The Wandering Paladin

Rune wielders can't stop everything. That's a fact. Not everybody has the skill needed to handle certain situations. I never implied they can stop something as distant as a sniper rifle. Factors have to be in play, they must be warned of the fact theres a sniper in the area. The sniper could miss, this doesn't make them bad as people make mistakes. If he misses then unless the weapon in question doesn't have a suppressor then theres a high chance you can guess the location of the sniper. What could you do as a rune wielder? One run the **** away, a moving target is much harder to hit then a still target. Two attempt to fire the biggest magical nuke you can muster to where you think the sniper is located. Three set up a barrier knowing that there is a sniper in the area so you will need to be careful. Of course not all barriers can withstand every time of modern day firepower. The method of expanding the copper jacket of a bullet within a standard gun was to avoid situations where one could sneak up behind and put a bullet in your head. Getting mid range or close will not be a smart move. This method wasn't to stop a sniper. Copper wiring? possibly. Not exactly sure. Unlike Kaethos this roleplaying setting isn't exactly as developed. I appreciate this discussion here and all the nitpicking. I will get them ironed out before the actual rp starts. If we all deal with bullets the way you suggested, the entire Tokyo Power Grid would fail in a matter of days. You seem to lump the abilities of the organization with the individual members. Just becuase the organization has survived well into the age of gunpowder doesn't mean that every mage has mastered a defense against guns. Especially since they're a minimal threat to both organizations as a whole. Like I said before, its hard to believe everyone on both sides would have developed the same spell considering no one seems to share any other spell in common. Also, I'm still sticking by my huge energy discharge arguments. |

Not to mention that, if really every single mage would have found a way to disable guns, the people would have already invented different/modified guns/ammunition. |

Yeah sorry Wolfie, but I have to agree with Drummy and Digdog on this one. We're expected to believe that every single mage has a way to render bullets almsot(if not completely) useless. This includes mages whose runes are both matured and unmatured. Seems like too much of a stretch for me to buy. The only way I can see abilities like that being plausible is if it required special training that took years to even use, much less perfect. |

I have the solution! Which someone else will provide, brilliant isn't it? Look, it's clear Wolfie doesn't wants us using guns against each other.. or at all.. not sure. Well, for a start, let's agree not to use guns. Or something.. that wasn't really the solution, the solution is this: Wolfie asks US if WE know of an effective way to counter those pesky lil' guns. Also, thank you all for those suggestions on my character, they helped a lot! Edited by BeastWarrior Nocturne, May 12 2011, 06:18 PM.

I was just going to say my character has a way to stop bullets without that weird aura thing. But it isn't permanent. |

As it was said, there's numerous facts of how to stop bullets, but to actually prevent the mess when you don't know when it's comming? I doubt anyone would be able to evade a bullet that was shot from behind at point-blank distance if you don't have protective measure already placed on you. Like me for example. If Kael knows there's a gunner somewhere in front of him, he'll create a thick wall of metal in front of him as a shield. But if the shooter is behind, unbeknowst to Kael, he won't be able to stop it. I say that we all make snipers and shoot each one o us' heads from afar. |

My character basically makes his skin into armor. Probably scales think enough to reflect bullets. But if he has no idea there's a guy with a gun, he's gonna get shot. Haha I said think when I meant thick. How does that work? Edited by MrEddIsDead, May 12 2011, 06:42 PM.

If I had kept Ghost's reflexes from his original character sheet he would have had some method of counteracting bullets that were farther than close range. |

One of them is going to hit the gunner eventually. Hilarity shall ensue. Oh, and I vote we rename Ghost's nickname to "Wannabe Pimp". Edited by MrEddIsDead, May 12 2011, 06:47 PM.
