Nocturu's Wind of Change
|
"Welcome, my children, to your new home. Here, you will find a family to give you support when you ned it, have fun and learn from each other. Make yourself at home, for this will be the the place you will spend most of your time when not working. Soon enough, you will learn about your siblings, work with them and hang out together. We have work for you in case you seek something to do, and a refuge in case you don't have a roof over your head. May you have a good time amongst us. Welcome to the family, welcome in The Brotherhood." -Silderion Laranor's, The Guildmaster, speech for the newcomers. As I've said in the Discussing area, this RP is mostly free-plotted, with some probabilities of a plot depending on what are you doing in your jobs. The Brotherhood is a RP where your characters are members of a guild named "The Brotherhood", in the Northern continent's headquarters. As expected from this group, members of the Brotherhood are all considered siblings, although it happens some people aren't that much friendly to the others. The Brotherhood has no real goal in its existence. Members could wish to have fun between jobs, or gain fame, or either working to earn a fortune. Either ways, being member of The Brotherhood is pretty much like living a normal life among a big family that offers you a job when you need it and friends in case you need support or simply to have fun. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The rules are fairly simple inside the Brotherhood: 1- The most important of all rules. Do NOT bring harm, being it indirectly or directly, to your fellow siblings. You don't have to get along with every members, but no fighting is allowed inside the Brotherhood. 2- Do not steal from your siblings. 3- Do not destroy any of The Brotherhood's property. 4- Do not bring shame on The Brotherhood. Right your wrongs if it happens. 5- Don't die. Breaking any of these rules will result in punishment, depending on how severe the laws have been broken. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Layout: The Brotherhood has four headquarters, each situated in the middle of one of the four continents. The headquarters are huge mansion-like buildings able to house about one hundred individuals. Each headquarter is located in the capital cities of the continents, and nearby are houses/appartments for those that want to live near the headquarters. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The ranks: In the Brotherhood, there's a ranking system to distinguish those that proved to be more reliable on work than others. Missions has ranks depending on the difficulty judged by the Guildmaster, an those missions are offered to those that meet the ranking requirements. The ranks follow as these: -Apprentice: Apprentices are new additions to the Brotherhood, whatever the amount of power one holds. After performing a job, one is decided is his level of power is sufficient to go higher in rank. -Initiate: Initiates makes one of the most part of the members in the Brotherhood. They are the equivalent of the average member. -Guardian: Those who have proved to be reliable on jobs and duties. One does not need to hold great power to attain this rank, but those cases usually are joining the Healers of the Intelligence division. Those who aren't Healers of members of the Intelligence division holds more power than Initiates, or their talents helps greatly amongst the Shadows *-Counselor: Only those who have proved most reliable and powerful become Counselors. There's not much people who attained this rank in the history of the brotherhood, but those who did where all helpful to the guild and its members. *-Master: When a Counselor succeeds in the annual Master Test, he is allowed to become a Master. Master Tests are extremely difficult to pass, which test both power, sharpness of mind, and a secret requirement. *By reaching Counselor and above, a member has the freedom to attend to the guild's reunions that are usually held once per month. Furthermore, there is divisions amongst the guild that categorize a member by its abilities. Certain jobs require a party of mixed people from different division to increase the chance of success. The divisions are described below: -Enforcers: Members of this division are usually focused on defensive maneuvers, be it magically or physically. Enforcers also includes those who can use magic to support others. -Ravagers: These members have powers and techniques that helps dispatching ennemy quickly. Spellcasters using destructive powers and fierce warriors are common in this division -Shadows: The members of this division rely on stealth to do jobs. Be it for gathering intelligence or defeating foes, their stealthy talent are required for certain jobs. -Intelligence: This division has for the sole purpose to analyse texts, decrypting coded messages and evaluate situations on a batte situation. A sharp mind is required to enter this division. -Healers: As its name suggests, the Healers is a division composed of healers. Unlike Enforcers, few are able to defend themselves, and so very few accompagny a group outside the headquarters. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't mind what kind of bio you post here. Only things I require is the appearance, your race, age, and a detailed list of some of your abilities/magic/whatever. If you want to be a new addition to the Brotherhood, mention it somewhere on your bio. If want to be already a member of the Brotherhood, put your rank somewhere (you're limited to Guardian and below). I'll take care of which division you are in after analysing your abilities. If you have questions, don't hesitate to post them here, or take a look at the Archives if there's something you wish to learn about the world One more thing, thanks to Ragnorra for pointing this out: You can pick any of the races described in the archives, except Dragons and Demons. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Players: -Leb: Kell (K) Huntsman -Ragnorra: Melani -Drummy: Marissa -Wolfie: Brian Wolfbringer -BeastWarrior Nocturne: Shazir Khazanthyr Edited by Riffus Maximus, Jan 20 2012, 01:03 AM.

Free-form RP? Color me interested. Let's see, some funky idea for a character. Would it be okay to have a magic-user who's skills required physical contact with targets? Left hand removes the effects of friction from a target, right hand causes target to start spinning with the motion accelerating the more time passes. Probably would need to throw in some timelimits for the functionality of the skills though, because otherwise it would be way too ridiculous. |

This was meant to be some kind of joke. It's to mention that The Brotherhood takes great care of its members and that it's better to come back another day to finish the job than to die, unless what is at stake is great. @Leb: Sure can do. I'll need more details as to what the spell is and its use, but seems to be alright. Edited by Riffus Maximus, Jan 17 2012, 02:25 AM.

Okay QUESTIONS questions questions... Are all the races allowed or are like demons and dragons off limits? Um... That's the only one I can think of currently. |

They are indeed off-limits. That's something I missed to mention above. The reason is, any Dragon holds tremendous amount of power, and their stay with other beings is short as to avoid suspitions, so they don't allow themselves to join any group or stay one place for too long. Demons are fueled with hate and chaos towards the other races, it's impossible for them to think of joining a bunch of the beings they despise so much, just as it is possible for Terrarians to accept a Demons amongst them, because they know Demons are up to no good. Oh I figured that was the reason. It's why I asked. I'll just skip on Fiera in the meantime then. Hm... this might take a bit. |

Okay, here's a short bio. I figured three abilities would be okay, without going too over-powered and so on.
That's it for now. Edited by Leb, Jan 17 2012, 11:59 PM.

I suck at physics, so I don't know what friction is. What would removing friction from an object would do? |

Well to explain this fast, think of friction of like a gritty surface that lets you walk on it and advance. Take friction out, and A) you would not be able to advance because you didn't have any grip to do so and B) any force inflicted on you while you were suffering from the loss of friction would sent you sliding to the direction the force sends you at, unable to stop. Sort of like having a slippery soapy floor, except there's no way to stop yourself. You'll keep bouncing and sliding off of things that you come across. Edited by Leb, Jan 18 2012, 12:06 AM.

Damnit. Hm. Well I could use Paulge here and Fiera there I think... That may work... That or Melani. But I'm not sure Leb would appreciate his frictionless power being used exclusively so Melani can play base ball with opponents. "Okay, slideball, come on! Let's see if I can get a homerun~" |

I see, so you intend to make people like giant bouncing whirligigs (or something like that)? Sounds interestingly funny. As for the familiar, how much time it stays around while summoned? |

Question what is the limits of magic? Could it enhance the abilities of a mortal body? For example its strength, speed and a way to use magic to jump from a tall building and land like it was no problem? Could I use magic to sustain flight? |
