Two possibilities. First, when my character deems that it's been around long enough/they can't bother adding more injury to the owner so they let the thing go. Second, once it has grown enough it can be ordered around and even attack. It has no special powers, it's slightly below average human strength but as long as huge eye on it's forehead isn't pierced, it'll keep soaking damage and growing. Damage it takes by itself is not transmitted to the owner though upon familiar death. EDIT: Oh right, is it all right for my character to be able to specify specific parts of targets with both touch-spells? Like the hand or leg of a person? Edited by Leb, Jan 18 2012, 12:19 AM.

@Leb: Alright. Only thing that you'll have to remember is that it'll cost you spiritual power over the time the familiar is summoned. As for the touch spells, the whole body would be affected by the touching abilities, since they are part of a whole being. @Wolfie: Such spells exist, and most of them are from a form of magic that alter objects or persons. Leb's friction ability also fall into this form of magic. Flying would require an enormous amount of magic and a good understanding of Transmutation. Edited by Riffus Maximus, Jan 18 2012, 12:27 AM.

Transmuation altering the body? Not what I was looking for but may have to do if its the limits. Magic is a force am I correct then why can't one project that force to allow them to levitate? Edited by Masterwolfie, Jan 18 2012, 12:29 AM.

I assume it's the same reason jetpacks don't exist. It's possible to make one and hover by yourself, but it's horribly inefficient. |

Mages find it more easier to just alter the flow of magic around them to allow them to levitate than blasting a huge amount of magic downwards to fly. Not only it saves a lot of siritual energy of being wasted but it saves the havoc blasting magical force would bring. But some apprentice doesn't grasp the "altering the flow of magic to allow flight" and just blast magic to get burst of speeds or temporary flight. |

I was basing a character around altering the flow of magic to allow such feats. So I can jump off a tall building and land on the ground unharmed. Just wondering if its possible to pull of such things in your world. Obviously its your world and you have your own limits of magic. |

It'd probably fall under dark magic, but if I stole a vampires fangs and embedded them into a whip, could I make a blood sucking whip? Just testing if Melani would fully work. |

For the heck of it, I asked Fishtank about some specifics relating to my on-touch abilities and the effect they'd have when both activated.
Either Max just made the world my playground, or I will tweak the numbers a bit. |

Hey, if you get too big for your britches, Melani can always skin your arms and use them to make her inertia defeating gloves. |

Ah yes, still need to read EVERYTHING. Nonetheless, I was thinking about an ability that could alter the weight of metal. For example; make a sword 5 times as heavy or make someone's chestplate 5 times as heavy. Would that be too overkill? |

But if you removed friction it shouldn't affect anything, no? No doubt there's more to it than just that, being physics and all that. @Wolfie: Your character would work just fine. The way I see it, your character would've studied Transmutation to enhance his physical abilities. Altering the flow of magic is the exact words for that form of magic. I'll work just fine, just be sure to not exagerate on the limits. @Ragnorra: Vampires don't suck blood here. Their fangs are basically just an effect of their warped physiology. But it's possible to enhance a stinged whip using Dark Magic to suck on life force. @BWN: Haven't seen your post, sorry. Yes, that could work. This spell also fall in Transmutation. Oh yeah, I could let everyone drop their swords to the ground! Or make an ally's armor weigh less to move around faster. Hmmhmm.. now just have to find a way to base a character around this principle. Might create a whole different character though. |

Friction opposes motion, so basically it would slow down whoever Ieb sends spinning eventually. Without friction they're stuck spinning indefinitely. |

If I remove friction from someone, it'd make them completely helpless. Every reaction has a counter-reaction, except in their case, they'd only get a counter-reaction that sends them at the opposite direction of what they attempt. Like they punch me in the face, it connects but the force of their hit has them now travelling backwards. I push them with my pinky, they're now travelling at the direction of my push and unable to stop. The more force there is behind whatever sends them moving, the faster they'll go too, at the speed they were sent hurling backwards that is. It won't get faster, or slow down, until the effect ends. |

The idea is that Melani uses dark magic to skin an creature and make it's powers imbued into the equipment she made out of them. So like... A dragon skull helmet that breathes fire. Or a succubus tail belt to be prettier. Or an angel wing cloak to fly. Etc etc etc. |
