ok... that's the one of ways that You can minimalise lags (when the fault of causing lags is on Your side). It works for me with games like Guild Wars, Neverwinter Nights 2, Hellgate, Maple Story and Mythos (beta)... so probably will work for Talisman(I have no lags from my side- only income lags)- just I need to find wich files have the 'mobility' content in Talisman. If I need to guess it will be -data.evp -dbhelp.dll (cause usually it's *.dll files) Don't take it for only true solution, feel free to experiment, and for Talisman sake! check everything with antyvirus and antyspayware Wish You luck (it works for me, or I have luck) 1. first one- probably not wortking with Talisman, 'cose it's too small here is link for instructions http://forum.sof-guild.com/showthread.php?t=5100 I wanned tp translate it by my own... but I found the original idea. All rights for authors here is polish version for this instruction for those of You who are from poland http://www.guildwars.pl/forum/index.php?showtopic=14736&st=0 2. second one- the idiotic one Turn on Windows Media Player. I know, I know- take Your time to laugh... What it do? it should relese reserves of You'r CPU by 'recycling' it from all the background process (in other words- it delete the 'state of idle' reserves). If You have good PC the results will be unoticable... and it doesn't work for me :P. BUT! it works- I've tested it in view online games at my friend PC :). Just don't know will it work with Talisman T_T 3. This one works with WoW... ain't working with Guild Wars (tested some hmm... 6 months ago) !!!! if You don't know what You are doing- just DON'T!!!! I'm not too good with stuff like that- so every messing in registry is made for me by my firends. I'm just writing here what they said... and again- don't do anything if You don't know what You are doing (or how to fix it) TcpAckFrequency Start->Open-> type "regedit" find key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ You will find many things with long names like {7DBA6DCA-FFE8-4002-A28F-4D2B57AE8383}. Check them- the right will have many options inside and YOUR IP. Klick right mouse button on right side of screen and add new thing DWORD. Call it TcpAckFrequency, then clik it right mouse button and modify it to value 1. You can change it to 2 (default) if it screw other TCP thingies. What it do? It tells Your windows how many packet (don't know the right word in english, so this could be idiotic) it should wait before sending ACK. If the number is low (like 1), ACK will be send with every TCP packet. ONCE AGAIN- if You don't know what's happening- start kernel panic XD 4. Again- same WoW friends, and it's working for them, and I have no idea if it will work for us. But this one is easier... still... IF YOU ARE NOT SURE... just learn how to live with lags ;P TCPNoDelay Start->Open-> type "regedit" find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters Click right mouse button on right side of screen and add DWORD. Call it TCPNoDelay, then right clik it and modify and give it value 1. Press OK, close the registry editor and reset Your PC. What it do? it desactivates algorythm of Neagle- should improve thing with ping. When I'll meet my friends again, probably they will give me more tips. For know- try if You dare... but personaly- I have no idea how it works , and I'll let them do it May the force be with You |

Tried using the Contig under the CMD window with contig -a "C:\Program Files\Talisman\data.evp" and it said only 27 frags/file. The thread I was reading about this said they had like...over 100 so I can already say this won't be much help for this game considering the program is a small file itself. GuildWars and other games are much larger and require more files. Most of TO's files are server side so not much to defrag. |
