OOC

Mitsuki walked through the stacks of the Mishima Academy Library, balancing a stack of textbooks on various subjects as she made her way towards the reading tables. She gave the open room a quick scan, spying an open table and placing her books on the table. Settling herself down in the seat, Mitsuki surveyed her bounty of books before her. Alright, I’ve got a book on Advanced Mathematics, a Geography textbook, and an advanced English textbook. This should be a good enough start for today, I should be able to get through the advanced English book and at least get started on one of the other ones. With her plan in mind, Mitsuki settled herself into the seat, giving a quick sigh as she got comfortable.

Mitsuki nodded to herself before opening the English textbook, quickly scanning through the familiar, to her at least, forms and phrases of the English language. To any on the outside, it would appear as if Mitsuki was an advanced student, rather than a student of the 1-A class, with how quickly she was going through the advanced English textbook. Mitsuki’s left foot began absentmindedly tapping against the ground as she flipped her way through the textbook, beating out a consistent rhythm against the floor.

"Mom this is going to be a bad idea. It's only going to make dad's sentence even worse...Well, fine, if you're really sure you want to do that then sure, but you helping dad is not going to work. I'll be home later tonight...Goodbye." Ayano hung up after having a heated call with her mother, she looked stressed after having that phone call and seeing as how nothing was happening in any clubs she was in, she decided to spend the rest of her afternoon at the library, which Ayano was already near.

Ayano soon entered the library and began to look around for any horror stories that would interest her, she never really liked finding those kinds of books in school libraries since she would never find story's that caught her eye. She looked around near the open table that her classmate Mitsuki was sitting by, she didn't notice Mitsuki until she found a book that caught her eye, Spiral by Koji Suzuki. Ayano was confused as she thought spiral was a manga called Uzumaki, she turned to the back of the book to read the blurb only to find out it was part of the Ring series.

However, she dropped her attention in the book to notice Mitsuki, who was currently studying. She walked over to her classmate to check on her, looking happy in the process as she held the book she just got by her waist.

"Ahh, Mitsuki-san, I see your studying." Ayano called out from behind Mitsuki as she soon stood beside her.

"How are you doing by the way?"

Mitsuki, upon hearing Ayano’s approach and statement, laid the English textbook flat onto the table with the page she was reading still open, before she turned around to address Ayano. “Hello, Hakamoto-san. I’m doing fine, I just thought I would brush up on a few subjects as I had the time.” Mitsuki gestured at the books she had laid out on the table. “You are more than welcome to join me if you wish. I’ve just started doing a quick refresher on my English, I don’t want to make a stupid mistake on the exam we have coming up.” Mitsuki made to turn back to the textbooks, but then noticed the book Ayano was holding, a slight smile coming to her own face. It is always nice to see someone else who enjoys book. Who knows, she might even enjoy the same kind of books that I do.

“I see you already have a book of your own though.” Mitsuki glanced at the cover, but couldn’t quite make out the title from her current position. “If you don’t feel like joining me for some studying, feel free to sit if you just want to read your book. Although, do you mind me asking what it is about?”

Exam? Of course, there was an exam coming up, Ayano was a bit worried that she would fail or at least get a below average score, but she took a deep breath when Mitsuki mentioned the exam. The girl then offered Ayano a chance to study with her. "Thanks for the offer, but I think i'll study back home since I won't be busy tonight." Ayano declined before sitting beside Mitsuki on a nearby chair, placing her book on the table.

"But I will gladly read my book beside you since it seems all of the other tables are occupied." Ayano said as she looked over at the other tables in the Library that contained students she didn't know. Mitsuki asked Ayano about the plot of Spiral, causing Ayano to turn back towards her classmate to answer her question.

"Oh, Spiral? It appears to be a sequel to the novel Ring, which as you may of know, was made into a popular horror movie. However, I didn't know one of the books was called Spiral until now." Ayano answered Mitsuki's question before adding more to it. "The book's about a coroner finding the cursed tape and trying to survive it's curse." Ayano explained the plot of the book to Mitsuki.

"I'm still surprised that a book like this is in a school library." Ayano said to Mitsuki, laughing quietly.

Mitsuki smiled as Ayano sat down beside her, starting to turn her attention back to her English textbook, but still listening to Ayano. She nodded as Ayano elaborated on what book she had picked. “Hmm. That book does sound somewhat interesting, although I probably could not get into it myself, as I have not read the original. I only know the vague details of the plot.” Mitsuki focused her gaze on the English textbook as she turned the pages, scanning over the pages and refreshing her knowledge of the language. “But I do agree with you, it is a bit odd to find a book like that in a school library. I hope you enjoy reading the book, but if you change your mind on studying, feel free to ask.”

Mitsuki froze briefly as a thought occurred to her, but quickly returned to scanning through the textbook. She picked up the textbook, holding it in front of her face, turning the pages faster than when it was lying on the table. After a little bit of time, Mitsuki piped up again, “So, do you like those kinds of fantastical stories Hakamoto-san?” The textbook in front of her face was a shield in the guise of a study tool, hiding her expression, which was a mixture of inquisitiveness, eagerness, and a slight tinge of embarrassment. Mitsuki’s eyes however did not stop their scanning of the book, merely slowing as her attention was split between Ayano and the language she was reviewing.

"Heh, thank you." Ayano quipped in response to Mitsuki's offer to study with her if she changed her mind.

Ayano began to open her new book so she can begin reading it. As she did Mitsuki soon covered her face with the English book for some reason and asked if Ayano liked fantasy stories such as the one she was currently reading right now. Ayano turned back towards her classmate as she pondered the question for a few seconds before finally answering.

"Well yeah, if it's horr---However, Ayano was soon interrupted when her phone began to vibrate. "Shit." she said under her breath, looking a bit worried as she took out her smartphone to look at something on her screen. It was her mother Shizune, who was planning to see a lawyer concerning Akihisa, despite Ayano's insistence that it will just make things worse, she just texted Ayano to confirm that she arranged an appointment with one tomorrow afternoon, Ayano's response was to just delete the message, wanting nothing to do with things going on between her parents.

At least...For now.

After what just happened, Ayano put the phone back into her pocket and smiled again at Mitsuki as she properly answered her question.

"Basically yes, as long as it contains elements of horror then i'm all for it, like my favorite offer of all." Ayano blushed upon thinking about...Him, H.P Lovecraft.

"Also you really seem to want to improve your English. Are you planning to move to somewhere foreign when you're older?"

Mitsuki watched with a quizzical expression as Ayano responded to her question, but was interrupted by her phone. The text, if that’s what it was, seemed to have worried Ayano, and Mitsuki felt the urge to ask what was wrong. However, Ayano was in the middle of saying something, and it would be rude to interrupt. Mitsuki smiled as she heard Ayano’s answer, glad to have found another girl who liked fantasy, even if it was only if it was mixed with horror. Though I do wonder who her favorite author is to make her blush like that.

Mitsuki then blinked as she heard Ayano’s question about wanting to improve her English, and set the textbook down on the table, startled. Then she remembered that she hadn’t told Ayano in detail about her mother’s books, so she probably needed some clarification. “No, I am not looking to improve my English, it is already quite good. I just wanted to do a refresher so I do not mess up on something simple. My mother was foreign,” Mitsuki subconsciously brushed her blonde hair behind one of her ears, “and most of her books were written in English. Reading them gave me an opportunity to connect with her, and I’ve read a lot of other things in English as well.”

Mitsuki's mother, Ayano remembered how upset Mitsuki was when she talked about her mother earlier today at the rooftops, however, she seemed to be ok with talking to her now. It was best for Ayano not to mention her death, besides she wanted to know something related to Mitsuki's mother. "She wrote a few books? Do you know the names of some of them? I could have probably read some. There was this time when I was thirteen when I got interested in reading stories by authors from Germany, America, France, and who knows. I could have stumbled upon a few of her books while in the city library back in Ueda." Ayano asked, slowly closing her book once she got to the fifth page of it.

"Also that's sweet. I would try to do the same thing with my dad, only it was watching the show he used to host, I never really liked it since that kind of stuff was boring to me." Ayano revealed another part of her past to Mitsuki as she twiddled her fingers, closing Spiral properly now.

“Yes, I do know the names of some of the books she wrote.” Mitsuki lay the English textbook flat on the table as she elaborated. “The most famous book she wrote was probably Angels of Avalon, a tale about the forging of Excalibur by an elven blacksmith. There is also the book that my dad said was the reason he and mom met, Fatebound. It’s about a samurai who is cursed by a powerful yokai to never see his love again. The samurai refuses to accept this, and tracks the yokai to its lair, enduring numerous torments to try and lift the curse so he can see his love again.” Mitsuki is clearly excited talking about her mother’s work, not paying any attention to the textbook anymore in favor of elucidating on the novels that she wrote.

“Angels of Avalon was regarded as a good fantasy adventure story, while Fatebound was regarded as both a good horror and romance story.” Mitsuki sighs wistfully. At this point she realized what Ayano said about it being sweet that she connected with her mother via her writings, and the fact that she had been rambling about her mother’s work in public. Mitsuki’s face gained a slight blush, and she made to hide herself behind the English textbook, only to find that she had finished reviewing it. With the flush in her face growing deeper, Mitsuki closed the English textbook, and picked up the Geography textbook, propping it up in front of her to hide her face.

Ayano listened to Mitsuki as she told her about the plots of two of her mother's most well known books, Fatebound and Angels of Avalon. While Ayano thought that the stories sounded great, she only heard a few mentions of their names when she was younger and didn't seem interested in either book, but she was amazed that Mitsuki's mother wrote two well thought out books by the sounds of it, still she needed to say something about them instead of just being quiet shortly after Mitsuki explained the plots of the two books.

"Wow, they seem interesting. But unfortunately I might not read them anytime soon, i'm not a big fan of romantic horror type stuff." Ayano confessed, crossing her legs under the table. "Still, it's great your mom wrote two great and exciting books, and she sounded smart too." Ayano beamed and laughed slightly as she twiddled her fingers and sighed.

"If only my mom was like that too."
