I will be using both Miya and Mai for this thread and will indicate when the latter enters the thread.

A soft melody emits through the hallway as the day lets out. It was an odd piece. Listening put one's mind at ease and almost made their worries disappear as the melody took them away. The closer one got to the assembly hall the more one could take in the music. Peering inside one would find a girl with long, black hair dancing her hands across the keyboard of the piano set out.

News of a concert being held at the academy began to circulate as well as the news of a young, semi-famous musician being the star began to spread. It was rumored the musician was a beauty and held a strange atmosphere about her. Despite the rumors this was the first time music emitted from the assembly hall that wasn't from the academy's music club thus there were students gathering nearby to listen and catch a glimpse of the beauty.

If one came inside the hall and took notice of the girl they would notice that her hair seemed very off. Random bits missing, uneven in various places. Yet it still fell into a manner that was still attractive and gave off a more mysterious vibe. Combined with the melody she was playing it gave her an even larger atmosphere of mystery. Her long black coat accented her hair as well and it was also obvious she wasn't a student at either the High School or the University.

Miya needed a way to reconnect with her now third love in life. It was at the urging of Duke and Rin that she found a way to practice and improve her own self-esteem after all the horrors and panic inducing events over the past few months. Why she chose this particular song when it brought painful memories and a tiny amount of anger towards the forefront of her mind? Simple. The effect this singular melody had on not just her soul, but the souls of others who listened. It brought a sense of peace and that is what Miya truly wanted in her life. Peace.

She was glad the academy allowed her to hold a small concert and was even more so after gaining a few sponsorships from local businesses to help fund the event. Whatever their reral intentions were she did not care in the least bit. She got to play the piano while having a nice, relaxing vacation with Duke, Rin, and Saya. It brought a smile to her face as she continued a melody that was both painful to her, yet one she enjoyed.

After only barely escaping a history test with his sanity intact, Drake was quite ready to call this day Done early. If there was one subject that suffered more than any other, with as many schools as he'd been to, history was it. Each new country had its own history, and even its own flavor on world history. It was simply impossible for him to keep up with it all, no matter how much he studied. So after another test that he just KNEW he bombed, he was calling the day a wash and heading home.

But before he could leave campus, he heard music. Something about it seemed familiar. Like he'd heard it before.
Probably because he had. And after taking his earbuds back out and making sure that it wasn't his own music playing, he followed the tune down the hallways.

After meeting Miya in the city in the days to weeks prior, he'd honestly expected to never see her again, so he hadn't actually followed the rumors of a concert. Such was the outlook he had on life. The moment he met someone, no matter the circumstances, he knew not to get attached or give even the slightest of cares. It was better to assume the inevitable and be pleasantly surprised on the rare occasions when people stuck around, than to have any hope for such a thing. It was safer. It was practical.

The exception however... was music. Drake was a musical person, and while he couldn't play, he couldn't avoid a good song. And after Miya had linked him some of her music, he'd gone and bought all of it. It had been most of what he'd been listening to on his phone since the meeting, on his morning and night treks around town. There was such 'oomph' in her performances that he didn't mind that some of it was outside the genres he usually liked. And so as he walked through the hallway to see the small crowd forming around the door, he was confused for a moment at what he was hearing. Surely it couldn't actually be her... could it? He stood up and peered over the crowd outside the door, but what he saw made him give a big smile.

'Well. Guess the world's giving me a sign. Good day after all.' He thought, as he shoved aside some student gawking through a half-opened door, and headed right in. He kept quiet once inside, not wanting to interrupt the performance. Instead, he took a seat off to the side, but one close enough that Miya could see him when she was done playing. She'd definitely spot him then - because she was gonna get a hell of an applause when the song finished.

Class was over for the day, which made Ayano slightly sad. Although she was mostly relieved as the last class she had for today was maths and while she wasn't such a big fan of the subject, she felt like she did a good job on her work today unlike a few days ago where she got a slightly below average score on a test related to the subject. She felt like the tutoring session she had with Ai helped her improve her math's skills slightly and she hoped to get a better score on the next maths test.

As Ayano left class with her kato behind her back and holding her school bag with her other hand, she made her way towards the hall where the music club was. As she walked down the hall past some students, she began to think about the concert that she heard about multiple times today, she heard someone famous is coming to school to preform one at the assembly hall which got Ayano slightly excited. This would be the first concert that she's ever been too, she did always wanted to go to another concert hosted by a band that she liked back in Ueda, but of course, her father's scandal happened and plans to go to that concert was quickly swept under a rug, a rug that she doesn't even own now.

However as Ayano neared the assembly hall, she heard a melody being played. The melody was peaceful and made Ayano...Relax, she stopped to listen to the melody some more and turned to where it was being heard, which sounded like it was coming from the assembly hall. "That melody, it's so gentle. I wonder if the person playing at the concert is here practising?" Ayano began to follow the beautiful melody, eventually coming across the door to the assembly hall and the group of students that were listening to the music.

"Oh, excuse me, pardon me." Ayano quietly called out as she slowly pushed her way to the front of the door to look inside the assembly room, where she saw someone playing a keyboard. It was a woman, who looked enticing to Ayano. She saw that the door to the assembly room was halfway open and, wanting to hear some more of the woman's wonderful melody, slid through the door and into the assembly hall.

Ayano walked closer to the stage, sure she needed to go to the music club, but she's sure that the members won't mind her being a little late, besides, what she's doing now is music related so she's sure they will understand. Ayano soon ended up standing near Drake and choose to sit behind him so she can listen to the woman's music some more.

She closed her eyes, imaging herself in a peaceful field of flowers. Most of the flowers in question were coral and lavender, the same kind that she wears on her chest or near her neck depending on the season.

The peaceful music slowly began to fade as Miya finished up the piece. It was designed as such to almost be endlessly played if one decided to play it for a long period of time. One of the few pieces she never released to the public, yet knew by heart because of...She wanted to say friends, but her emotions clouded her judgement of those dwelling in the Velvet Room.

She began to wonder if another piece was in tow or to take a break for a moment? Her hands ached and that was bothering her a great deal. After the torture and unable to play her piano for a while her hands were not yet used to the style, yet she still played flawlessly from memory which still brought joy to her. She didn't even need to glance at the open door to tell there was a group of students standing outside peeking in or listening to her play if not both. Not like she cared enough to acknowledge them.

It was then she turned her heard. She knew Duke had gone to find a vending machine and the bathroom after helping her push the piano onto the stage. She wasn't expecting people to actually come in....And she did leave a sign on the door asking people not to bother her... She thought. Two people had wandered in, one she had to think for a moment why she knew the face. Looking back at the piano Miya carefully closes the cover over the keys when the sign she had intended to put on the door slips off the sheet music stand which a small sigh leaves her. Of course she'd forget when she was so intent on getting immediate practice.

"Nice to see you again Drake. How are you enjoying the music I shared and you bought? Easy to tell considering the purchases were with a few days of our meeting to know it was you," A soft smile on her otherwise emotionless face. It was not that she had no emotion to display, it was just the mood she got into while playing to keep focus and ignore any distraction.

The girl looked like she was in a sort of bliss while she was listening to her music. Fulling turning on her seat to face the pair she pulled her hair back to see the two more clearly...And not have to worry about her uneven bangs bothering her. Seeing the girl the way she was gave Miya a bigger smile and it showed on her face that it felt great to see her music have that effect on someone.

"What kind of daydream you enjoying there? This song has a powerful effect on those who listen I'm told so it's heartwarming you are enjoying it."

---------------------------------------

She paid no mind to the voices nor sounds upon the stage. She paid no mind as a set of footsteps walked out of the hall. It was when the music began to play did she mind...Till Mai herself was taken away into her own mind from the music. It was strangely calming and even she wanted to do nothing, but relax and listen. It was enough to cause Mai to politely put her manga way and listen. She did not move from her prone position on the floor in the middle of the front row isle. This was one of her favorite reading spots as very few people came into the concert hall in the first place.

Two new pairs of footsteps had entered the hall, both which may have also been entranced by the song as she had. It was strange that any song had this kind of power over one's mind, but this was a theory even Mai did not want to get into out of respect for someone who was as talented as the woman on stage. As the music stopped and the woman began talking to the two who had entered in the middle of the piece Mai decided to keep silent for the time being. There was no need for anyone to know she was in here.

Mai wondered if the woman would play another piece if anything.

Drake was kicked back in his seat by the time Miya was finished. He was enjoying the music, but he wasn't the type to completely zone out. Not with this type, at least. He was much more the type to toss a pair of earbuds in and be dancing down the sidewalk to some techno-electronica beats. Which was probably for the best, since he didn't mind the conversation.

"Aaaah, ya got me bancho-sama." He was sticking with that nickname, her coat was just too cool. "Think I bought yer whole discography that night. Been liking a lot of it, though... like I figured, more a fan of your upbeat stuff. The classical is good, though." He gave the universal 'sup?' head nod towards Miya's piano, indicating it. "Not normally a fan, but... this was hella shibui. Very nice."

He gestured towards the door. "So, you considered actually doing that concert you were talkin' 'bout the other day? Cause you got an audience forming outside the door there." Given neither Drake nor Ayano had closed the door, there was still a small crowd hanging out just beyond the cracked-open door. All just peeking in and seeing what was up. Though the moment Drake quite audibly pointed them out, the door seemed to shut. Mostly. "Seriously, you hold it here, I bet you'd sell out in minutes. School would probably be cool with it, they seem to be hella chill around here about artsy stuff."

Ayano's happy trance in the flowery fields ended when Miya asked her about her daydream. She opened her eyes to see the woman who was performing on stage a few minutes ago now looking at her with a smile on her face. The beautiful melody that she was playing had ended and it was best for Ayano to answer her question instead of leaving it unanswered and being rude. "I was in a flowery field, I think I saw the field when I was younger. I always wanted to go there with my parents." Ayano thought back to the wonderful times with her parents, before, the incident that changed her for the better and the other incident in which she lost her father...To the justice system for what he did.

"Unfortunately, I don't think having picnics in a flowery field will be possible in the future for me."
Ayano lamented, she decided to change the subject before Drake and Miya try to pry more into her personal life. "But that melody, how did you come up with something so beautiful?" She asked Miya, her curiosity regarding the wonderful melody intensified from within her. Judging from what Drake said she appeared to have a lot of albums, which she might buy a few the next time her and her mom get money.

"He's right." Ayano brightened, turning towards the door to the assembly hall before looking back at Miya. "You already have a following just outside the door, imagine what would it be like on the day of the concert. This hall will be full of students wanting to hear you play, like me." Ayano pointed to herself.

"Hey to each their own. Everyone has their own tastes and music is no exception to that as you heard through the various pieces. Should have linked you to the private forums where some of my unreleased tracks are up for download. Those should be more your speed since they're a lot of covers of some upbeat stuff. Still which album did you enjoy the most?"

So he still insisted on calling her that nickname? It was new and she honestly didn't mind it. Different from the normal nicknames she had such as Empress, Flames, and other nicknames related to Persona business. With the girl speaking of her daydream Miya began thinking it was...Nice. Miya herself never ran through a field of flowers or anything similar, but a picnic was always fun with the rest of the children. Something she would have to get Duke and Rin to do while they were on vacation as the park here was supposedly beautiful.

"That's a nice daydream Miss. Well it may not happen soon, but someday you may still have a picnic in a flowery field. Perhaps that special romantic someone finds out and surprises you or a close friend trying to cheer you up."

When asked about the song Miya nearly froze up. How could she even mention the truth behind the song? How could she even lie about the song? It....Was difficult and she would hate to take all the credit for it. While having no name that she knew of, it was a song that those who forged contracts with the Velvet Room all heard at least once. It was the one piece she played only in select concerts where recording devices and such were off limits. Even if one tried to record the song the data of the recording seemingly became corrupted and only the recording was effected oddly enough as if the Velvet Room was helping keep it hidden from the world somehow, yet didn't mind that she played it for other's.

"Well I didn't come up with it myself. I heard it and recreated the music from memory. There is no sheet music for it. Just my memory. I believe I've known how to place it for....Oh I believe six or seven years now. A soothing piece if not the most soothing that I have in my collection. If you want to hear more I can link you to my website where there are plenty of free pieces you can enjoy along with a few previews of those within albums."

When both mentioned the crowd that had been gathering outside and about how quickly the rumors of a concert had spread it made Miya's heart soar. So people were already beginning to enjoy the sneak peak into her concert. This was a feeling that Miya had long forgotten since her last concert was years ago before her mental state began to degrade. Now that she had a more positive outlook on life, for now, it was time to get that feeling within her heart once more.

"Well the academy already approved of me holding a concert here. I miss my baby grand back home, but this will do for now. Just have to fine tune it to my personal tastes. I'm honestly more surprised to hear that there are a lot of people who would be interested in my music in the first place. Well it's not a for profit concert so that should draw a larger crowd."

It was Miya's turn to feel like she was being rude. Here she was calling Drake by name and Drake calling her Bancho-sama as a nickname, yet neither knew the girl's name. She didn't want to make too many new friends since it would be very, very rare for her to revisit this small town. If there was one thing she taught the children back at the orphanage it was to always be polite even if it's just to be nice.

"My name's Miya Narikama, Miss. Nice to meet you. I can play another piece if you two would like, though one I won't play at the main concert. I have a few personal pieces and a few covers I want to get assistance from the academy's orchestra and band to play. Made sheets for each instrument and plenty of copies for use for the concert as well."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

As the three were talking Mai was silently continuing to read. Narikama? Why did she know that name? Well it would not matter for the time being till it became relevant. And why did the other girl's voice sound familiar? Another thought that did not matter. When the mention of a gathering crowd at the door came up Mai groaned. Now she was stuck in the hall or to make her way out through the crowd which sounded like it would be quite a hassle given the size. Despite giving herself away Mai kept her place on the ground.

"Almost put me to sleep. In a good manner mind you it was....Relaxing to say the least. Curiosity takes me when I ask are you self taught or did you have a teacher at some point Narikama-san? Such talent is rare in the world that much is certain."

"Eternal Flame, for sure. All that upbeat guitar work... that's exactly the kinda stuff I listen to when I'm on the go." Drake said, flipping through his phone to scroll through her discography, trying to narrow down a favorite song. Nearly all of it was downloaded onto there, by now - binge-listening was definitely the appropriate term. Drake was, after all, a firm believer that life needed background music, and Miya's range of songs had become his of late.

He looked to the other girl as she spoke, and nodded as well. "Should check out some of the riversides. Nice scenery." He brought up the website and handed Ayano his phone. "There's the site, if you wanna copy it down. She's got a ton of great music." He added, letting her hang onto it to copy it down if she wanted to.

The topic of concert planning, however, got Drake up to his feet. He looked around for a bit, then snapped his fingers. "Probably not as good as the stuff a pro songstress like you is used to, but there's a lot of hardware around here. Few other good musicians too, I haunt this hallway for lunch sometimes." He grinned. "I bet... the school would be up to donate some, if they got a word in as well. Maybe some of the school's music classes open for you? Cut of the proceeds going to sprucing this place up a bit? Could be pretty shibui." He shrugged, leaning against the wall. "That's just my idea, though. I'm more of a music 'consumer' than 'creator', ain't got a clue how to actually set up something like that. I can dance, but, you know, that's more a natural response to music than actually makin' it."

Ayano blushed. "Really, someone special? I don't know. I want someone special in my life, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find one. I want someone that loves me and doesn't do anything bad, unlike my dad." Ayano hinted about her family life yet again to two new people she had met before getting her answer on the origins of Miya's mysterious but beautiful melody. "Memory huh? You have a strong memory if you managed to keep it for so long. I can't even remember that much about what happened up to when I was three." Ayano's mind then became distracted when it was obvious that someone else other then her, Miya and Drake weren't the only ones here.

But before that, Drake had given her his phone to look at a website, Ayano looked intrigued by the website and took out her phone, copying down the web link on a notebook app on her phone to use later. Once she finished she gave Drake's phone back to him and turned off her phone. "Thank you, I'll look at both websites when I get home and look at them through my phone. Me or my mom don't have any computers yet, but with how pricey they are these days, it's going to take a good while to even buy one even when we do get money again." Ayano then turned back towards the voice that she swore that she heard before.

"Hello?" Ayano called out from the back row of the assembly, wondering who the voice was. She turned back to Miya and Drake, the former of him introduced herself. "Hakamoto Ayano, it's nice to meet someone who's very talented in music Narikama-san. If you want, I can help you with the concert. I'm actually in the music club as a new member since I moved here recently, in fact I was going to go there when I heard your beautiful melody." Ayano wanted to close her eyes and daydream of the flowers again, but she knows now wasn't the time.

But she nodded in Miya's request to play another song. "Sure, if everyone else in the room wants to as well." She smiled at Miya.

(Italic paragraph beginnings is to help show the beginning on Mai's paragraphs. Red text is Miya and blue is Mai.)

When the voice of a third person popped up Miya raised an eyebrow. She was certain there was no one else who had been in here while she was looking over the hall. Perhaps this voice was here beforehand since Miya's attention had been more on the stage. When her memory was complimented along with the question of her talent it was a strange thought. She could play numerous pieces from memory alone or from ear without sheet music unless she needed to keep on the same page as the group she was playing with. She really didn't pay much attention to it as it was already habit.

"Trust me when I say when you find love you'll know. It took....Quite a while for myself and...Well that's a little too personal than I would like to get into. Trust you understand considering I want to listen to your story there, but feel like I shouldn't pry, " turning her attention back to Drake she had to wonder what kind of hardware the academy had. It was a private academy with high expectations from their students so it may have some things Miya was unaware of, "Well if there's anything I can use for the concert I'd love to find out. Was hoping to meet with the music club myself at some point to introduce myself and begin practicing. Nothing brings musicians together like a few good pieces. Also great choice as a favorite album. That tends to be the more liked of what I've produced. "

"Self taunt Miss Mysterious Voice," Miya called out to which an annoyed groan was the response. A shuffling sound followed by a body getting up and into a seat was the answer. Miya swore she had seen this girl before but could not recall where. Her memory was good with music, but not so great with people.

Mai on the other hand felt a little...Uneasy. When Ayano spoke up it was then she felt like she had to reveal who she was. The day at the arcade was still fresh in Mai's mind she had to be polite enough to Ayano if anyone otherwise she would have stayed on the floor unknown to everyone.

"My name is Mai Rivori. Charmed I'm sure. Hello again Ayano-san. Yes I was skipping class again before you ask. Don't mind me I'm just going to continue reading while you practice. Talk. Whatever you decide to do I could not care less.

Someone else used that as a way they greeted someone? That alarmed Miya a bit, but perhaps it was just a way some people spoke or grew up? Regardless she decided to leave Mai alone as that seemed to be why the girl was in the concert hall to begin with. The thoughts of using the proceeds from the sponsors to spruce up the place was an enticing thought....But she would have to work things out with the school considering they were already getting all the money to help set up the concert anyway.

"I can see what I can do with the money from sponsors. Can't make any promises as ultimately it is up to the academy heads what happens with the money. But now I want to get you as a dancing attraction for the music Drake. Sounds like it would be quite amusing to have you just dancing whatever on the side during the concert. Now....Let's see...Ahh I know. Since you like Enternal Flame so much let me play one of those pieces. Though limited as I didn't bring my accompanying tracks with me today to go with the piano."

Turning back to the piano Miya began to tap her chin trying to think of piece to play. Sometimes she forget what music was on her own albums at times which embarrassed her a bit. A quick snap of the fingers as an idea came to mind. It was one of her favorite pieces she composed to her style and playing it was always fun. It was a fun one to write her own piano version for and was quite....Memey when she first added it to the album. Her hands rested on the keyboard as they began to once more dance across the keys once the song began to take off.

Deja Vu Piano!
