Starfall High School |
![]() |
Main Buildings
Three main buildings stand around a central courtyard. They are quite large, going up three stories each, and have enough classrooms to teach all the teens of both Ashwood and Moonbud. The building is squarish and bland, built in Moonbud solely as a place of learning, not an architectural art piece. The administration touts the school as being far better than it likely is, trying to be on par with private schools while still being public. The teachers run a wide gambit of teaching styles, but in general they just get the job done. For them, doing the job comes first and caring for the students second.

Gymnasium
The gym is large and well-lit, locker rooms for boys and girls tucked off to the side of the main floor. Inside is a regulation-size basketball court and good amount of equipment for things ranging from kickball to wrestling to gymnastics. When the gym is not in use, some clubs meet here to conduct their business and some people around town teach various things here. Just outside is Starfall High School's very own practice field, where the Starfall Meteors hone their skills. The team is the pride of both towns, though they have never made it past the district level.

Administration Building
Opposite the cluster of main buildings is the place students fear to tread. Offices and the teacher break rooms are all housed here, along with all their record keeping file rooms and student computer labs. Hope that you are never sent to Principal Liam Knox's office. Rumor has it that he is a strict, almost violent man when his temper strikes.

Library
This is where the books live! This building is surprisingly large compared to the rest of the school. This is due to it being the only library in town, which means it is open to the residents as well, even during school hours. The librarians are very strict about record keeping and will hound those who keep books out for too long. Still, the many rows of books and quiet atmosphere lend itself well to those looking for a peaceful spot to study and read.

Ashwood |

Hummingbird Street
Just about every shop in Ashwood is on this street. From the antiques to coffee to medicine to toilet paper; if you're going to buy something in Ashwood, it's going to be here. Few shops made the switch to electric signs, giving the street a very old feeling.

Backwoods
The town is completely encircled by dense trees. This gives the town an isolated feeling, though no one seems to mind. These woods are filled with small woodland critters who can live peacefully with Ashwood's residents and are a refuge for lovers and loners alike. While the occasional deer might wander through, the woods are very safe, despite rumors of ghosts and midnight cults.

Kaiser Park
The park at the center of town is little more than an open field. At its center is a small gazebo which serves as the mayor's podium during most of the town's festivals and events. A number of trees grow around the park, the largest of which has a plaque beside it, claiming it was where Liam Kaiser, the town's founder, had originally had the idea to found Ashwood. To one side of the park is Town Hall and to the other is Sacred Woods Church.

Lake Cindermeadow
The lane going around the lake leads to a number of large homes, the living places of Ashwood's wealthy. The lake itself has been left alone, heavy fines levied on those who would pollute it. The far side of the lake was once where Liam Kaiser had built Ashwood's first hunting lodge, but it burned down many years ago in a massive fire that gave the lake it's name. It is now a memorial Kaiser's many achievements, a gilded plaque placed at the old, charred entrance to the lodge.

The Neighborhood
The American Dream is alive in Ashwood. Most homes have the white picket fence, a nice front yard and all the amenities a nuclear family needs. Everyone does their best to keep their lawns manicured and their bushes trimmed. It's uncommon for anyone to have a house that wouldn't be considered at least pretty. The roads are just wide enough to squeeze two cars through, and the forest encroaches very close to the residences, giving children a wonderful place to run and play.

Moonbud |
![]() |
Residential District
The homes of Moonbud are utilitarian. They have roofs, they have doors and windows, they have garages. There aren't any super flashy homes in this town like in Ashwood, but the townsfolk are generally okay with their simplicity. It's not uncommon to see children running around the streets, with no park for them to play in. Trees and shrubbery are dotted throughout sparsely to give the neighborhood some color.

Cloud Lane
One of the oldest roads in Moonbud. Here you will find the more "small town" feeling stores. At the end of the road is the Moonbud Museum showcasing all of the towns history, though the building is a little worse for wear. This is also where you will find the town's only movie theater, Cloud Cinema, which prides itself in all managing to make drive-in movies relevant and fun.

Trailer Park
Toward the edge of town is a trailer park. Its roads are unpaved messes of weeds and potholes. Low-income families struggle with the lack of consistent electricity and plumbing, but they're hardened by their circumstances. Though their homes may be undesirable and the park itself is in disrepair, the community here is surprisingly friendly. They often hold little barbecue cook-outs and let their children run freely around the park. Foliage is nearly non-existent in the park, but the back end is not far from the woods. The entire complex is fenced off with chain link, a reaction to a bear incursion a couple years back.

Industry District
A large, unsightly cluster of buildings huddles to one side of town. Smoke billows up from tall smokestacks and well-trodden earth marks the paths to the factories. All sorts of things are made in these factories, from car parts to toys to even balloons. This is also where you will find Moonbud's biggest shopping center, Space Mart.

Hiking Trail
Throughout the forest are a plethora of paths that wind around the hills. At their start they all have a rough estimate of how long it might take to finish the trail. Many additional plaques line the way, sharing information about the forest's foliage and fauna. It's easy to spend a whole day along these trails, losing yourself to the peaceful atmosphere of the forest. Just keep an eye out for bears and other woodland creatures. There are no fences to keep you safe from those rare encounters here.

Deep Woods
The police forces of both towns frequently advise people against leaving the hiking trails to explore. Of course, saying not to do something is the fastest way to guarantee it is done. Among the underbrush, explorers can find truly beautiful things. The trees are much larger out here, and streams flow serenely down the hills. Woodland creatures are found more often and a number of small caves and waterfalls can be found. There are rumors of a log cabin somewhere out here, but no one has found it yet. It's probably just a lie to entice the gullible into getting in trouble with the authorities.

Goldcloud Cave
At the base of the Moonwood Mountain, named after the two towns that rest in its shadow, is the entrance to a large cave system. Many of the hiking trails eventually swing by the cave and the more adventurous explore within. There are a number of warnings to amateur spelunkers, but it's pretty safe regardless. Rope ladders have been set up to allow easy exploration of the main chamber and the ground is fairly even. Toward the back end of the cave are tunnels to deeper sections where things are less explored and more dangerous. These places are fenced off to keep people from going in, but some times a spelunking tour will take tourists deeper in, or maybe a curious teen might find one of the few holes in the fences to slip through.

The Velvet Room
You awake to find yourself sitting in an antique chair of blue-stained wood. A steady ticking reaches your ears and you look around to see the walls covered in hundreds of clocks, all counting in unison. The blue upholstery matches with the blue wallpaper. Both match the blue outfit of a quiet duo, a man and a woman, who usher you to a long counter that stands at the other end of a labyrinth of antique furniture and grandfather clocks. A long-nosed old man grins wildly from behind the counter, which houses countless watches. He welcomes you to the Velvet Room.
