UPDATE AS OF 10/24 All slots have been filled for Team Golden Dragon. Thank you all for signing up. POTENTIAL CANDIDATES: Spoiler: click to toggle Mr. Fortili stood at a large podium in front of a decent-sized crowd. He took it upon himself to make this special "Open Announcement", looking for the right people to be on his team. Students, alumni, and strangers alike all took their places in the auditorium as Emanuel began speaking. "Welcome, fellow Aurelius citizens. As you may already know at this point, My name is Headmaster Emanuel Fortili, successor to Donatella Valente. Today marks the day where I will pick the four people who will help represent us in this upcoming tournament, where all of the districts of Aurelius will clash in order to become the victor. I will allow questions at this time while people continue to fill in." Emanuel already had a good idea of two students who will be in this tournament, but who else? He had gone through most of the documents of people who were attending. He had more information on the students and alumni over the complete strangers who were coming in, having consulted with many City Hall members to find sufficient information. Emanuel could only watch the people come in as he went through his head the likely four he would pick. Edited by Clubba, Oct 24 2017, 06:03 PM.

Diana stood among the crowds, standing above some of the shorter and younger students, waiting for the announcement to begin. Like many around here, she wore the Golden Dragon uniform. Something she did not particularly like, but got used to during school. Green shirt, skirt, and socks, yellow jacket with the dragon emblem on it. Today was the day the school would choose its candidates for the tourney. It was the tourney she was supposed to win ... somehow, if she wanted to retain scholarship at the Academy. While many around her had a hopeful glimmer in their eyes, Diana's stare was largely disinterested. It was ... order resolving, she guessed. Not to say Diana did not do anything during the semester. She studied, and learned as much as she could understand. Her deck was refined and made smaller, with plenty of new cards added in. But it was still a skull servant deck made of cards that went out of fashion ages ago. She doubted that whatever modifications she made would be enough. Her fighting spirit was not at its height either. To represent this school and these people was ... not a great honor. The students were not just competitive. They were aggressive, presumptuous, spoiled, and ... rich. They were able to affords cards and packs that she could not. There were a few decent kids here and there, but the majority was spoiled. They did not bother Diana much. After an incident when she kicked a guy for taunting her after defeating her in a mock duel, she was left to silent ostracism. So now, she looked at the Headmaster - a man who confided his own powerlessness to her during her entry exams. Diana remembered he wanted her to represent the GD, for some reason. She was ready. If he would say her name, she'd go out there and do her best. If not... she'd register on her own. Or go home. Either way worked. |

Word of this tournament between schools is talk of the city, everyone knows of it and expectations seem to be high. Ken Loach walked back to the Academy he was trained in, the Golden Dragon. With his odd play style of not using an extra deck did make him stand out, Ken tried to figure if it made him a weaker duelist for it. But as he walked through the crowd back to where the location that help make him into the duelist he is now, Ken couldn't help but laugh off the self notation of needing to run an extra deck. Self limitation, Ken figured, was the best way to become stronger working with your weaknesses and find ways to make them into strengths. All focus was brought to the current head master, Emanuel was his name. He mentions that only four will be representing the school as part of the duels and this brings up a good question to Ken mutters to him self as he listens on "I wonder how they're going to select the duelist for this? Is there a sign up?" Trying to speak softly to not draw attention to him self, even though his outfit of cloak and casual wear does make him stand out already as is. Helena stood at the front of the crowd, dead center looking straight at the podium. A few people behind her were struggling to see around her, but they dared not ask her to move. She wore her golden dragon uniform with pride, and scoffed at those that had shown up without their uniform, or worse, were here as freelancers. In her mind, she had already won this tournament, and did not need help from those outside the dragon. Her gaze fell hard upon the podium, her eyes locked on the head of the dragon, the strongest duelist, who crushed any he dueled. She was pleased with this, a strong head meant a strong body, and she would settle for no less. She trusted that the dragon would pick the right people. She trusted that he would pick her. She stands there, silently, waiting for the moment when her name is called and she can represent her school, and show all of Aurelius, no, the world, the strength of the dragon. |

Kaula rolled her shoulders around lightly as she stood near the front of the crowd. She had to stand there, the five foot tall pipsqueak pretty much had to if she wanted to see over everyone else. Unfortunately for her, she wasn't quite in front. She was stuck behind someone. A roughly six foot mass of some woman. She was new here! Pretty new. Clad in a black shirt, black pants, and a black coat; the first and last of which were trimmed with gold. The coat even had the Golden Dragon emblem on it! There was a sigh out. "Down in front" came a grumble as the girl crossed her arms, glancing off to the side. At least she could hear what was going on at least! A tournament! Exciting. A hand shot up from behind Helena as Kaula went to hop up. If there were questions being allowed, she might as well ask the thing that everyone probably has on their mind. "I have a question! How are all the participates gonna be chosen?" |

"A good question. I have barely revealed the methods of which I select the people whom I will have represent my school. Only a few know of their definite selection, as I handpicked them myself. Everyone else will be based on one of two things: One, their potential and performance level displayed in this school has caught my eye to be selected. The second reason is... a bit of an outlier. Upon special request of a former student whom wished to originally participate in this tournament, he's picked a proxy in his stead. Now, if there is no other questions, I'll commence the selection process." The room dims while a projector displays the Golden Dragon symbol. Five silhouettes of people's busts appear, and one by one, they zoom into each individual, revealing who they are. Emanuel starts with the first candidate. "Helena Startzman. You were my first choice, not certainly my last. Unfortunately, my reasons are lackluster at best. Out of you, Clyde Ashton, and Berthold 'Bert' Hasdrupel Theutrich, I would have picked all three of you. Unfortunately, both were unable to participate, so you were the only one left who was available. However, I can say that your skills with Buster Blader has been noted. A powerful deck for a powerful woman. Do not fail me." Next, Diana Trench's photo comes on the screen. "Diana Trench. I've thrown many a criticism at you, but of all the candidates, you are the one who has potential. Trust in your team. They will be the ones to help support you in coming to understand your deck, and in turn, yourself." Kaula's icon appears next. "Kaula Esther. Your skills have been noted, and your service has been requested. Give it your all." Emanuel goes to the final two people, a little nervous to announce his last candidate. "Ken Loach. Let this be a learning opportunity for you, and let this be an experience for me to monitor what you can do as a duelist. Golden Dragon's eyes are upon you." The last person. Emanuel takes a moment to speak the name as the screen transitions to the last person. "Venten Brooke. You are the proxy of the legendary Daemon King Ignazio Leone. Normally, I would have accepted a man such as Ignazio to duel for the pride of Golden Dragon, especially since his reputation exceeds that of his daughter Giovana. But, you will have to do. Do not make Ignazio regret his choice, and do not make me regret allowing you in the first place." The room floods with light again, the projector turns off as Emanuel steps away from his podium. "Everyone who is still here, I appreciate you all coming here. Despite not having your names called, you still all have an important job: Support these fine individuals. These will be the ones that will bring honor and glory to Golden Dragon Academy. With your voices, you can give them the moral support they need to give this school the win. Cards are more than power. Together, as Golden Dragons, We Are Power." Emanuel allows himself to say this as the crowd cheers for him. After the cheering dies down, Emanuel holds his right hand for silence, then continues. "Everyone whom I've named, please take your places upon the stage. We have much to discuss. I will also allow this to be the time to talk." Emanuel goes to the back of the stage as he waits for everyone to come up. He keeps a watchful eye on everyone, especially Venten, whom he barely knows."Now that you're all here, I'd like to preface that you are all a team, so you all must stay as a team. Unfortunately, I have no real way to select a team leader. I expect that you all will reasonably select one among yourselves. If it were my way, I would pick Ignazio Leone for being the most senior member, but in his place is Venten Brooke, whom, while I do not trust him, do not know him. I'll allow you all to speak among each other. Do not do anything to elicit betrayal or poor sportsmanship. As a team, you all benefit from the grand prize. Never forget."
