"But yeah," Bailey Kaitlin Huff pauses to bounce the basketball against the hardwood, spinning it backwards in her hands as she catches it off the dribble, "So he was all like 'Ooh, I'm not doubting your abilities. I'm just worried because someone I care a lot about is going to be having her debut against a huge guy who's allowed to punch you in the face with brass knuckles if he wants, I think that's a reasonable reaction.' Which just had me like, 'Whatever Tyrell, you can spin not supporting me however you want if it helps you sleep, but you're sounding like Drake right now -- you're lucky I don't pimp slap you.' I totally would have too, if he'd said that to my face and not over Skype." Shrugging her shoulders, she calls out, "Fadeaway, top of the key."

Bailey drained the shot, pumping her fist in excitement as Jamie, the young brunette who was being treated to this story went to retrieve the ball. She wasn't friends with Bailey per se, in fact, they weren't close enough for the RISE wrestling trainee to even know Jamie's last name. However, they were both regulars at this gym and everyone sort of knew Bailey by virtue of her being the tall girl who never shut up. "How big is the guy anyways?" Queried Jamie, while raising a brow. She knew well enough to shift the subject away from the Skype call. Tensions had been high between Huff and her boyfriend-cum-Jiu Jitsu instructor Tyrell from back home, and everyone who shared a court with her had heard all about it. It was one of those weird situations where personal and professional got mixed together.

"I dunno, he looks sorta like Clay Matthews went on a bender and grew a homeless beard. Size doesn't worry me either way, it's like those big guys in the weight room, they've got show muscles but can't perform. He'll have so much lactic acid built up in his arms after a bit of grappling with me, it won't matter what he wants to hit me with."

Jamie blinked,"That's uh ... quite the visual there." She shook her head, trying to regain focus, "Three ball, left corner." After she dribbled over and took the shot -- which rimmed out -- she added, "I'm sure he's just anxious because he hasn't seen you in a while."

"That was H-O-R-S, right?"

"No, I just have H-O-R."

Bailey momentarily frowns as she retrieves the ball, then dribbles over towards the foul line. Finally, she lets out a chuckle, "Okay, okay, I'll pretend you just have 'R', make this a slow death for ya -- don't say I never do any favors. Buuuttt, that other thing you were saying? I mean I'm sure he is, but that's no excuse. I said Detroit was close enough for us to still see each other when I thought RISE would actually put me in the ring reasonably quick and not keep me locked away in training. Don't got time to head home, I gotta get this whole deal on track."

"Maybe they think you have potential and don't want to rush you out there too quickly." Jamie suggests.

"Nah," Huff sighs, "They're probably just trying to teach me a lesson about discipline or something because someone like that dork Tristina ratted me out for not wiping the weight bench down like one time," Actually this occurs about a couple times a week, "Either way, that's the whole reason I had to enter this tournament to begin with, so I can actually get some action."

"That's the one your trainers are in that you talked about, right?" She receives a nod in return, "So what, you're entering this to get their attention and prove you're good enough, or something?"

Bailey scoffs at that suggestion, "No, don't be ridiculous; that'd be a stupid idea, I'm not delusional or anything. I'm just a competitor and I need some outlet to go and test my skills, otherwise I'm not going to enj --" She stops abruptly, deciding to change the subject, " -- Nevermind, I shouldn't have brought this up. I'm gonna enjoy this, it's gonna be a good experience, I'm making things sound stressful when they're really not." After a deep breath and sharp exhale, she states, "Between the legs, reverse layup." As she gets a head of steam and elevates, she brings the ball between her legs with ease, but accidentally hits her foot with it. The ball falls to the ground, and after landing, she punts the ball across the court while letting out a few choice expletives.

Jamie winces, allowing a few moments to pass before suggesting, "Wanna take five?"

"Nah, I'm good," the Canadian assures her, "That didn't count though, since I didn't actually shoot it. New shot: halfcourt, bank it in."

At first the camera shot is shaky and an extreme close up of a hand engulfs the screen. After shaking around for a bit, the video steadies, albeit while shooting just a tiny bit crooked. The tall, lanky frame of Bailey Kaitlin Huff then comes into view, taking a seat a few feet away on a large beanbag chair. Once she's given a short wave of the left hand, she begins tying her hair back into a side ponytail.

"Waddup everyone, my name is Bailey Kaitlin Huff. I'm twenty years old, my base is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I'm coming to the Iron KIng Tournament fighting out of the RISE gym in Detroit Michigan."

She finishes doing her hair up, folding her arms across her lap.

"Now, you might be noticing something pretty distinctive about me right off the bat, so I'll just get it out there. Yes, I am in fact, Canadian, hailing from beautiful Windsor, Ontario."

The 6'3 competitor flashes a quick grin.

"Another thing to just get out of the way, quickly. For those that keep up with the European wrestling scene, yes, I'm from the same Huff family that's basically the most powerful family in European wrestling with their ownership of companies like the SSSWA and NKP. They're pretty cool and all, but besides having some pretty swank tape libraries of old matches to go through, really have nothing to do with my getting into the business. Really, my first love was competitive Jiu Jitsu, but after basically steamrolling the intergender competition in any Under Twenty tournaments in the province of Ontario, I kinda wanted a challenge. I mean, I could've continued on that path going to different grappling tournaments, but with the level I was already at it kind of would have been like watching a movie where you already had the ending spoiled, y'know?"

A shrug of her her shoulders.

"So my journey took me to training at the RISE gym and then to the Iron King Tournament, where really I couldn't be more thrilled to be having my first matches against the elite of the elite -- and Tony Savage too!"

Emitting a hearty laugh, she slaps her knee.

"Sorry T-Bone, just joshing ya. I mean it is kinda true, but --"

Her voice starts trailing off before she clears her throat.

"Nevermind, I'll get that to that later. More pressing, I'm sure some of ya watching this are having predictable reactions. That it's foolish to start your career in this environment, that I'll be out of my depth, unprepared and all that jazz. Some might even find it disrespectful. Which, I can get and all, but those opinions are also horribly wrong."

Another smile, then she fishes around in her hoodie pocket for a stick of gum which she sticks in her mouth and starts chewing as she continues.

"First off, I'm pretty sure I'll be more prepared for this than a lot of the veterans who are either new to Phoenix or have come from elsewhere. I'm a detail oriented person, I kinda look at combat like human chess, so I need to be that way. Had some people tell me in the past that's oversimplistic and downplays the violent aspect of it; I assume those people don't actually get that the game of chess is about armies with swords and lances and shit trying to capture each other's kings. But my point is, I mentioned going through old tape libraries of places. Phoenix is pretty crazy even by pro wrestling standards; always seems like it's been a place where the only rules are that there are no rules. They had a fight on a boat just recently; before they went away a couple years ago, I saw a clip of some crazy white people going all World Star that ended with a chick getting stabbed in the neck with a pen. Soooo, if you ask me, acting like having had lots of wrestling matches prepares you any more for a place like this is kinda asinine."

She blows a large bubble, then pops it.

"Second, I absolutely get that I'm not a great polished pro wrestler at this point, but let's look at what the Iron King actually is. It's a combat sports tournament -- yes a pro wrestling based one with a title shot at the end -- but a combat sports tournament where different skillsets and styles are being pitted against each other. It's the closest thing to the old school UFC tournament around now and it just so happens that I want to enter it representing my particular skillset, one I absolutely believe I am elite at and testing myself in this environment. Really, I think I'll do quite well also, especially in this round. You want to talk about disrespect ..."

A loud sigh and shake of her head follows.

"How about the people in this business who clearly aren't even that proficient at the pro wrestling basics from a technical perspective -- not knocking their heart or athleticism, but they clearly aren't -- yet hey start trying to add submissions into their repetoire. Or they'll train Jiu Jitsu or standup for a few months and then brag about addtng those skills to their set, as if they don't take years to master. Maybe being in a business where bikini models with a few months of training walk into some companies out there and win belts has created a weird disconnect, where the masses don't get what mastery of your skills actually means. Just look at my opponent, ol' T-Bone --"

She gestures with her left arm, waving it forward to emphasize her point.

" -- He's big and strong, hits hard, but not the most technically proficient guy. Yet, he tries to do something resembling a Peruvian Necktie to put people away. That's a tough submission to pull off in a fight even if you're good at Jiu Jitsu and judging by that, he is not. Like, far be it from me to criticize a veteran of this sport, but if you know what you're doing? You're not gonna flail your limbs about like an octopus having a seizure, watch the tape back of yourself and think 'nailed it' you just aren't. And I don't think I'm being unreasonable here; I know he had some success elsewhere, but here in Phoenix he's looked pretty out of his depth like a discount bin Dexter Jacobs. "

Another bubble blows; this one a bit smaller.

"If you put aside that he's got abs and muscles and looks good hitting a punching bag, I think his preparation and approach to things leaves a lot to be desired. If he was really taking this opportunity in Iron King seriously, he -- mad or not -- wouldn't have demanded a No DQ match against a dude that was struggling to cling onto his past relevance back when Obama was running for his second term if I recall correctly. That was going to leave him compromised physically, with little actual payoff, even if the big fella Swat hadn't wrecked both of them. To me, that just shows a blatant disregard for the opportunity here and I think everyone in this tournament who actually cares about this opportunity should feel a bit insulted."

Pausing briefly, Bailey stretches her arms over her head, before regathering herself.

"People might think a street fight stipulation favors him, but I truly believe it doesn't. It won't be up my alley, no, but I plan on finding a way to implement my skillset. I'm not gonna get blinded by ego like I see so many people do and try to be the jack of all trades, acting like a master of a skill that I'm not. Now I know it won't be that easy, I'm sure stuff will go wrong and I'm sure I'll have to adjust to that. But if it comes to that? I'm 100% confident based on how he approaches things that I have him beat in the most important aspect of a drag down fight -- being mentally strong. So with that said, I'll see you all in the next round."

Another smile and the recording cuts to static.
