How To...Access Foreign Marketplace Content

The Xbox Live Market Place has different content depending on which country you live in. For example, as of 10/3/06 the USA currently has a playable demo of Ridge Racer avaliable that we in Europe cannot currently get. Luckily for us, there is a sneaky way to gain access to this additional content.

As you probably know every Xbox Live account is linked to a Microsoft Net Passport, you'll already have one if you've got a Gold Account on your 360. The personal details you enter when creating your Net Passport are retrieved when setting up your Gamertag, which determines your country of origin and the Marketplace you have access too. Basically, by creating additional Net Passport accounts that make out your from another country (e.g. America), and by linking it to a Silver Subscription Gamertag (which is free) you can trick your 360 into letting you browse that country's Marketplace.

1) Log in to Microsoft's Passport Network and create a new Net Passport, please note DO NOT edit the Net Passport account you use for your current Gamertag as you could screw your existing Live Account up.

2) Fill out the details as usual but when choosing where your from:

* For American Market Place content set your 'Country/Region' to United States. Set your 'State' to New York and enter the 'Zip Code' 10001 (one of the many Zip Codes of New York).
* For Japanese Market Place content set your 'Country/Region' to Japan. Set your 'Postal Code' to 150-2345 and enter the 'Prefecture' Tokyo-to (one of the many Postal Codes of Tokyo).

3) When done, create a new Xbox Live Silver Subscription on your Xbox using the Net Passport you just created. Pick any Gamertag you want. You will need to enter an address, it will either already be filled in for you (from the Net Passport details you gave earlier) or you can enter any old gibberish. You will also need to enter a phone number - this is a little harder as if it's not a possible number the 360 will tell you so and will ask you to enter it again:

* For the USA 1-866-530-1234 should work, but change a couple of digits otherwise MS may find it weird that all these Live users are sharing the same phone number!
* For Japan enter 3201-3331, but again please change a couple of digits.

4) Once your Gamertag is created and ready for use, head into your new Xbox Live Market Place and there should be some videos/demos that weren't previously avaliable to you - download whatever you want, and good luck reading in Japanese!

Demos & Trailers are shared between all Accounts on your Xbox 360, so once you've downloaded supposedly foreign content you can even use it on your existing Gamertag!

Just found this, it's probably worded better than my guide: http://www.gamersreports.com/article/19/
