Hello all, To cut to the chase, our current new member integration program is abysmal. I'm not sure it could get much worse. Our success rate on picking up new active members is abysmal. Despite the region growing in size, we have recruited a whopping 0 new active members on the forum since the region's inception. I consider this a massive personal failure on my part, and I regret not taking more concrete action sooner. Because of how completely ineffective our new member integration program is, I am going to be creating a very structured approach to the program. Right now the only consistency we have is sending a welcome telegram to new nations. In order to improve our success rate, I propose the following program, which I hope to implement as soon as possible, and to continuously improve upon as we find out what works and doesn't work: Step One: Revise the Welcome Telegram Our welcome telegram certainly isn't bad, but it could use improvement. I want to put more emphasis on the importance of joining the forum and create a simple list of things new members can do. Welcome Telegram Step Two: Engage Potential Active Members If a new member posts either on the forum or on the RMB, it is imperative that we engage them and make them feel welcome. Asking questions, giving positive and constructive feedback, and generally feeling warm and inviting are musts. We should try to figure out what they're interested in and try to point them in the right direction, or if they're interested in something we don't currently have, consider incorporating it and involving the new member in the program's inception. This step, I believe, is the most important step, and I hope that everyone will participate. Step Three: Forum Integration One new members have joined the forums, it is imperative that they are directly contacted on the forums as soon as possible and actively invited to engage in discussion or roleplay, and to apply for citizenship if they haven't already. There have been many nations who joined our forums and only made one or two posts. Step Four: Civil Service Program This idea is inspired by the region of Europeia. Different government officers, whether they be Senators or ministers of different departments or of other offices, should create positions new members can occupy to assist in that particular department. These positions should be accessible and help new members learn while also giving them a sense of personal achievement. For example, in the Foreign Office, civil servants might be tasked with creating puppets to lodge in other regions where they could interact with natives and build stronger inter-regional bonds. Likewise, civil servants might be given tasks related to the integration of new members. Our defense force is also a great civil service option, and I want to see it expanded and more active. I will leave the specifics to Nord's discretion. Same with any civil service initiatives in the Department of State Affairs and Roleplay Ministry. On their citizenship application, new members should be able to specify whether they want to be involved in the civil service. If they say yes, then the head of whichever department(s) they express interest in should contact them as soon as possible with details. Once again, I leave the specific process of choosing civil servants to the heads of each department or ministry. Step Five: Games and Competition I love playing games with other people, and I think that it inspires a great sense of camaraderie. Friendly competition is also a good way to inspire activity on the forum and give players tangible achievements they can be proud of. We should hold tournaments of some sort at least monthly of easily accessible "games" that people can play on an average computer for free and with minimal hassle. These "games" could be anything from chess to forum games to poetry contests. The sky's the limit so long as there can be a winner. Even better, cooperative games where participants win or lose as a group could be fun team building exercises. Step Six: Regionalism As it stands, we lack a cohesive regional identity. I think it's important to inspire pride and a sense of community in this region. We can do that first and foremost by actually building something to be proud of and a good community, but "artificially," I believe we should establish regional holidays every ~2 months or so. Not only could they inspire activity, but they will also help build up the community. Please, comment with any suggestions and whether you're interested in helping out! Like I said, I'm going to try to make this system relatively well structured and consistent, so I will be delegating specific tasks to volunteers. I would greatly appreciate the help! This seems like a good plan overall. Not sure what the military can offer besides boot camp and helping train even newer folks, but we're obviously willing to do whatever we can. I also advocate for reviving our chess and Risk tournaments from ages past, maybe with some live chat parties where applicable for that extra sense of "holy shit I'm going to lose" as Pho's dead, unfeeling tones remain unchanged as he finally closes his frigid hands around your throat as your forces are forced to retreat further and further into Australia. |

Boot camp would be good, participating in training exercises such as taking warzones could also be fun. You could also perhaps involve them in some low-level intelligence stuff. Not sure what that would entail, but that's your job after all ![]() And that sounds fantastic. You know how much I love slowly taking over the world in Risk. Perhaps we could establish a Ministry of Culture to deal with the more fun things like tournaments? |

A Ministry of Culture could be fun, but we'd need the manpower for that. |
