Some dwarven miners have discovered one of the most powerful relics of the Gods buried deep inside the mantle of the Earth - the Golden MacGuffin. The MacGuffin's power is simply that everyone wants to hold it. Only the most powerful of Gods are immune to this magic - everyone will want it, until it is destroyed, but of course nobody wants to destroy it. It was created by the evil sorceress Rose White over a millennium ago, but banished by her rival, a witch named Red Poppy, to the depths of the Earth. Now its magic has returned to the world, and all the world's armies are making for the mine as fast as possible. Knowing this, the dwarves have placed the MacGuffin on a big alter outside the mine, ready to be claimed by the first ones who come past.

In this RP, you will control one of the nations of Fantasy Pluviostan. To participate, just start posting. Make sure to include a brief description of your nation and how it attempts to retrieve the MacGuffin in your post. Also, include notes on the terrain and local people just in case the MacGuffin winds up in your lands.

Allowed: basic magic (creating fireballs and the like), general fantasy monsters (dragons, goblins), cool castles, impressive empires and masses of men. Disallowed: OP magic (spells that teleport the MacGuffin right to you, impenetrable barriers etc), OP monsters (literally summoning Gods to fight for you - although a God might grant a character some minor blessing), and generally playing unfair (give everyone a chance to get at the MacGuffin). For roleplay purposes, the winner of conflicts will be adjudicated by a simple die roll if there is any dispute (but players are encouraged to be humble concede defeat if they can see the other side would probably win).

Edit: Feel free to join in and have fun! :)

"Surely the orcs are too stupid to even notice that the MacGuffin appeared" She said, shrugging, "Or too greedy to notice that anything is different, if they do know about it. But I digress. Who is behind this operation? Who is your leader?"

"As I stated earlier" replied Gawain "I am in the forest in the service of my Lord Prince Lachie, son of King Eric the Wise, who rules over the Thickleaf Forest."

"See?" Jenel asked with sarcasm, "It isn't all that hard to answer a few simple questions! Now, tell me; Is the MacGuffin still in the mountains, or have you taken it?"

As she said this, Gawain's eye stopped bleeding, as Jenel's healing magic took a bit of effect. His sight, however, didn't come back.

"I have not taken the McGuffin" said Gawain "Presently I am neither sure of its whereabouts, or my lord's, or my own."

"Hmm..." Jenel doubted whether to let go of Gawain or not. For the moment, she kept her part of the deal. "Stay still, I'll heal you"
With some weak telekinesis, the arrows were pulled from the legs of the elf, which were almost instantly healed. Two arrows, Jenel had to remove; The other three were aimed at Jasmine.

"You won't get your eyesight back, elf" She said, "And I suggest you don't move from that chair, if you don't want to be hunted down again"

After saying this, she directed her attention at Imhrys. Speaking strictly in the drow dialect (So as to make sure that the scout wouldn't understand), she asked;
"What shall we do with the prisoner?" A silence, some uncaring gazes spreading in the room, "He claims to be a noble of sorts of the Thickleaf barbarians. Should we risk a war with them?"
"A war?!" Dantras laughed, "I'll be damned if those elves can even pull a skirmish on our territory!"
"Indeed," Imhrys assured, "They're no threat to the Dominion. If they dare attack, we shall strike with the virtious force that was always foretold" Saying this, he frowned as he noticed his much unnecesary poetry and religious fundamentations, "Regardless, just keep him for now, we'll sell him later in the Heart's market or we'll hold him for ransom"

Jenel nodded, and looked back at the prisoner.
"Enjoy your stay!" She said, and left him there, as two guards approached so as to make sure that nothing went wrong.

"Until later... I'll go back to sleep, if you don't mind" Dantras said.
"It's a great idea, as a matter of fact. Let's hope nothing interrupts us now" Imhrys answered, and headed to his 'house'.

Oh, if only that wish of Imhrys could've come true! It couldn't.

Tanks slowed a bit to allow orcs to move at least by a fast pace instead of running. Plus, the third one reported boiler trouble and had to slow even further. Hence, the formation now resembled a column more than a wedge.

"How much more, Lord Coldwind?" An officer asked.
"About half a mile, I think..."
"We're approaching an abandoned village. It will be to our right-hand side within a minute."
"Leave it be. For now."

Meanwhile, a bird with the message reached a Silverstream Dirigible base. Its commander, Torkelstone, grabbed the message and read:
"send dirigible after this bird and follow it to the destination; consider you have permission from Hugo; Coldwind"

Dwarfs' dirigibles were with a rigid frame but without a motor, relying on sails and occasional manual screw instead. Diesel engine would not be known to them for another 200 years. Also, their number was low ─ only four of them ─ because aluminum was rare in dwarfs' lands and only one facility in Shadygrove could process its ore into a metal. Filled with hydrogen, those were rarely deployed either because it tended to explode from any lightning.

Torkelstone ordered the dirigible "Coldwind" to be prepared. But only after an hour could he actually depart. And anything could've happened on that time.

In any event, tanks and orcs bypassed drow camp in abandoned village, crushing everything on their path. They were getting closer and closer to their destination. Hopefully, with MacGuffin awaiting them.

Gawain didn't move, not caring much either. This was not unusual for assassins - act normal unless rescued. Under no circumstances were assassins to do anything cool which could give away that they were from the assassin unit. Even to the other wood elves, the assassins were an organisation of utmost secrecy.

"Seriously?!" Dantras muttered from his bed. He needed not to see what was happening; The roars of engines made it pretty clear, besides the fact that he was in dwarven lands anyways.

"By the gods..." Imhrys whispered, trying to sleep.

Predicting that engaging with the machines wasn't a good idea, Jenel casted a small spell to deepen the soldier's sleep, to make sure that they didn't do anything rash.

Evening soon approached in the elven camp, and the elves were a little tired from their disrupted sleep during the day.

"We will cross the plains today" said Lachie, carrying the McGuffin under one arm "If we try to hurry, we can reach the swamp before dawn's first light."

The other elves seemed a little unenthusiastic, but went along with it anyway.
