Some dwarven miners have discovered one of the most powerful relics of the Gods buried deep inside the mantle of the Earth - the Golden MacGuffin. The MacGuffin's power is simply that everyone wants to hold it. Only the most powerful of Gods are immune to this magic - everyone will want it, until it is destroyed, but of course nobody wants to destroy it. It was created by the evil sorceress Rose White over a millennium ago, but banished by her rival, a witch named Red Poppy, to the depths of the Earth. Now its magic has returned to the world, and all the world's armies are making for the mine as fast as possible. Knowing this, the dwarves have placed the MacGuffin on a big alter outside the mine, ready to be claimed by the first ones who come past. In this RP, you will control one of the nations of Fantasy Pluviostan. To participate, just start posting. Make sure to include a brief description of your nation and how it attempts to retrieve the MacGuffin in your post. Also, include notes on the terrain and local people just in case the MacGuffin winds up in your lands. Allowed: basic magic (creating fireballs and the like), general fantasy monsters (dragons, goblins), cool castles, impressive empires and masses of men. Disallowed: OP magic (spells that teleport the MacGuffin right to you, impenetrable barriers etc), OP monsters (literally summoning Gods to fight for you - although a God might grant a character some minor blessing), and generally playing unfair (give everyone a chance to get at the MacGuffin). For roleplay purposes, the winner of conflicts will be adjudicated by a simple die roll if there is any dispute (but players are encouraged to be humble concede defeat if they can see the other side would probably win). Edit: Feel free to join in and have fun!

Tanks bypassed the village unopposed. They were now approaching supposed position of the elven camp. "They'll try to escape on our notice." An officer said. "What are you going to do?" "Go with incendiary shots first, then explosive. Cut them all the escape routes." "Yes, my lord. Full stop! Arm incendiary!" Cannons went live, arming with orange-painted projectiles. Those two tanks who had a howitzer at their top armed it too, taking its large muzzle down to do so. Coldwind, meanwhile, wanted to make sure they got to the right place, so he released his controlled bird again to scout the surroundings and hoping they got to the right place. |

The drows rested 'till the morning. After the whole ordeal, everyone wanted a night of sleep and even those who were suppoused to take guard went to sleep, action for which they would be court-martialed and punished back home, once the journey was over and soldiers became disposable again. In the evening, they woke up, not as fresh as they would like to, but at least with some energy. "To the mountains it is, then!" Imhrys exclaimed to his soldiers. Unaware of the MacGuffin's theft, they still marched on to take it from the mine, once again soldiers marching under the sun, mages sharing aristocratic gossips, and scouts a step ahead over the trees. This time, however, an elf prisoner was forced to march with the soldiers. Meanwhile, Krust wondered the dwarves' motives. He had quite the scare back when they passed the village, as he thought that Coldwind was a law enforcer tricking him into answering for the raid. However, the tank's destination was now unknown to him. "Oi!" He shouted, apparently fine from running alongside the tanks, "What are we doin' here? Anything you need from my boys?" "Yeah!" The younger orc, still hanging from a side of the tank, exclaimed, "Iz there some skullz to CRUSH?!" This last word was followed by the cheers of his companions. |

By evening time, the band of elves did not quite reach the swamp, despite their speed. Instead, they found a small patch of trees and bushes nearby and rested there. |

Tanks stopped just after Krust asked the question and, while crew loaded cannons, Coldwind replied. "We're after some fools that have taken MacGuffin." He said straightforwardly. "If you find it, though, it's yours. We don't know where is it but we're working on it." His bird had found nothing, so he released it. Mage was still clueless where to find anyone who had stolen it, although he sensed them quite near. At the meantime, dirigible had departed, faithfully following the bird. Winds were fine enough that day for that thing to move. Then ─ the sense of some very strong magic, traced so easily by one like Coldwind. And precise battle orders. "Aim 20-right, angle 8... no 9.5! Fire at will!" And the first shells went away in a second to cut the way of retreat with fire. Edited by Oriflamme, Oct 30 2017, 09:21 PM.

"That's all I needed to hear!" Krust exclaimed, excited for the sight of battle. He turned around and exclaimed; "Boys! Anyone wanna kill zome bastards?!" Cheers filled the air. "Then there's your fight!" He said, taking his axe, raising it and poiting towards the place where the projectiles were being fired. The hoard understood; They ran in a blood-lusting frenzy, waving their swords, warhammers and axes and releasing their loudest warcries towards the battlefield. Meanwhile, the restful drows had already reached the foot of the mountain. "Just a few steps more!" A soldier exclaimed, "Then we'll be hailed as heroes!" Cheers were shared among the laughing soldiers. "Indeed," Jenel whispered, gently levitating next to Dantras and Imhrys, "This has been way too easy. We may want to prepare for battle" "Don't be silly!" Dantras said, "If there was any enemy ahead, our scouts would have warned us about it!" "Saying stuff like that is always a great way to bring forth unexpected consequences," Imhrys said, "Look ahead! The scouts are coming back!" The scouts, pale (Quite strange for a drow), and with fearful faces, approached their captain. "What's the report, scouts?" Dantras asked. "Well, sir..." One of the scouts began, looking down. "What?", Dantras wondered, "Are the elves here?" "N-No, the elves aren't here..." Another scout, blushing, muttered. "Well then, I guess the orcs are here?" He was visibly more annoyed, "Or the dwarves? Or a human expedition? Out with it!" "The MacGuffin isn't here, nor is anyone else" The first scout finally said. The three leaders remained silent, in shock. "Oh..." Imhrys whispered, raising his hand for the soldiers to stop. The army, unaware of the scout's report, began whispering. "In that case..." Dantras said, "We'll... Have to go back?" "By the gods!" Jenel exclaimed in anger. She turned back, pushed some soldiers away and roughly grabbed Gawain, "Let me ask you again; You bastards didn't take the MacGuffin, right?! Then WHO did?!" With this revelation, the soldiers around here fell in dismay. Some sat down in shock; Others lamented the march; A few remained standing, so as to keep appearances. Dantras was as the latter; Imhrys as the earlier. |

OOC: Larsland appears to have gone away from the battlefield, it appears. I took it as a confirmation that the elves indeed were wherever the dwarves were shooting at and that the elves, sleeping, weren't quite prepared, but that was wishful thinking. Also, it's sad not to have you around for this apocalypse. Now I can only spam Parlmone! |

Gawain winced at being roughly handled by the drow. "I thought I said that I didn't take it" he replied "And that I didn't know who has it now. But the only creatures I know who have recently taken the McGuffin somewhere are Elves and Dwarves, if that helps. Presuming my memories are still recent, of course. I do not know of any among my group who was both a bastard and touched the McGuffin." |

OOC: Didn't Ori attack you before you posted saying that elves arrived at the swamp, ignoring Ori's post? I think you would have to adress that, no? |
