Character Classes and YOU!

On Orion, there’s more than one way to experience a pokemon-filled adventure. And that’s why we have a non-interchangeable class system of the pokemon enthusiasts of Orion! Which means once you pick a class, you cannot change your mind later and switch to another. You can have your character be a coordinator and yet still challenge gyms and battle, but your pokemon will get reduced EXP for doing so. And vice versa, if you were a trainer and you competed in contest halls, you would get reduced EXP as well. Here’s a list and an explanation of the six classes in Orion.

*Side note: Recreational battling simply means that you are battling just to battle. This even extends to battling pokemon, an arch nemesis, and criminals (unless you are a ranger).

Trainer

This is your standard class of pokemon enthusiasts. This class focuses on exploring, training, battling and defeating opponents to better themselves as a trainer. They are also the most diverse in plain title, because one could be a specific aesthetic type of trainer, such as a Beauty or a Cyclist, where one type of trainer would want cute pokemon and the other would love cycling and traveling everywhere on their bike. Trainers get extra bonuses from gym leaders for defeating a gym, such as the gym’s signature TM and slightly more EXP than any other class that would participate in the gym challenge. Trainers also get slightly more exp than any other class for recreational battling.

Specialty

These type of folk do about all the same things as a regular trainer, but they have a loyalty to only one type of pokemon, and as such, dedicate their trainer career around catching and raising that type of pokemon. Examples of these are: Bird Keeper, Dragon Tamer and Bug Catcher. You can even make up a name for your specialty type, if there already isn’t an existing one (or if you don’t like the name.) For choosing and sticking with one type, you will get a 15% increase in chances of finding that type of pokemon (10% for dragons). If your trainer ever catches and intends to keep anything OUTSIDE of his/her class, you will lose the benefits, become a normal trainer and the character will never be able to revert back to the specialty. Only loyalty is rewarded!

Coordinator

The contest boom has struck everywhere around the world, and the people of Orion were hit just as hard. Many trainers gave up battling and fanatics calmed down to instead focus on making their pokemon prettier, cooler, and tougher than the next guy’s. These type of people understand that contesting is an art, and spend their time putting together acts, collecting clothing and pieces for the set and teaching their pokemon moves that would contribute to the show. With cooking poffins, grooming, and competing in the contest halls, this lifestyle isn’t for those with stage fright or anxiety. Some would even say people take contesting more competitively than battling, and that’s saying something. Coordinators gain EXP through contesting and practicing performances with their pokemon. Coordinators have a higher chance of finding accessories and TM’s than any other class. For more information about this and contests, click [here] and use ctrl + f ‘ contest ‘. Any other class that participates in contests gets reduced EXP and lower chances of winning. Exceptions are the MISC class.

Breeder

Instead of battling and spending a lot of time trying to catch wild pokemon, people in this class dedicate their journey towards raising, loving and breeding pokemon for other people. At first, you will be a novice, with only one pokemon ( a starter pokemon) to assist you and you’ll only be able to handle 1 client/ 1 pokemon at a time. If you raise the pokemon well and treat it right all the way up to the time that the client comes back (which is the time of 1 whole topic), you will have been successful, and your happy client will spread the word about your business. This is a professional job and as such, breeders cannot have client’s together or help each other with clients. Except giving helpful advice.

As your reputation grows, so will your perks. Here's what you need to know about being a breeder and some of their perks;

  • After awhile you'll be able to get to higher ranks! The more successful clients you get, the faster in the ranks you rise. Rising in ranks is incredibly important to a good breeder, because of all the perks you get!

  • Earn your breeder’s Trade Badge, which will allow you to access a select viewing of pokemon available to you from the government. This selection is only available to other breeders, require a considerable fee to acquire the pokemon, and changes selection after a certain amount of time. [One topic]. This is how breeders will be able to get more pokemon.

  • Your holding limits will increase. At first you will only be able to look after 1 pokemon. But when you are able to get more pokemon from the GTN and have a higher rank, the government will increase the amount of pokemon you can look after. The maximum amount is 12.

  • Get rarer pokemon from the GTN with higher ranks.

  • Your pokemon will help raise and care for your client’s pokemon. Because of this, when you reach a high enough rank, you are able to increase the amount of pokemon you can have on you to 8. Two more than any other class.

  • Being able to raise your prices. What you charge for your services is fixed. The higher rank you are, the more you are legally able to charge. (You will still get stars from evaluations though)

  • Breeders are not allowed to battle other trainers with their client’s pokemon, but they can recreationally battle with their own pokemon. They will not get reduced EXP.

  • Breeders are not allowed to participate in gym battles or contests with their client’s pokemon, but they can with their own pokemon. They will get severely reduced EXP and lower chances of winning the contests.

  • Get housing. After a certain rank, the government will supply you with free housing in any city location that you choose. You will be given a list of options and advice on the best place to set up shop. Getting a house is incredibly important for your business, because then you can breed pokemon!

  • After you get a house, government officials will come to install what you’ll need; a large playground in the backyard, a tall fence, a breeding room and several pokemon beds. Any client’s compatible pokemon of opposite gender can freely enter and exit the breeding room, and they may or may not create an egg. When the pokemon you watch create an egg, you get a fixed star bonus and the clients may or may not want to give you the egg.

  • With better clients, you will also get better rewards for doing a good job. Some clients may give you dolls or accessories to help decorate your house, or potions/tms as a tip. Who knows?

As you can see, this profession is for the big-hearted and patient in order to be successful. Breeders gain EXP from raising other people’s pokemon and 1.5x the amount from regular topics if they have completed their breeding assignment. Breeders can choose to be on an assignment at the beginning of their topic. Inform a mod of this and they will assign you a client(s) and pokemon to watch over, the pokemon’s personality(ies) and level(s), and you will be judged on your performance as a breeder by the moderator in your topic evaluation. The mod will also decide if the client(s) gave you a tip/items/eggs and if your rank has risen and what perks are available to you. (As well as your regular writing evaluation.) You will also need a moderator whenever you access the GTN, so they can roll the pokemon that will be available to you.

Ranger

This class is set on the motto of ‘protect and serve’. They don’t recreationally battle other trainers and they don’t catch pokemon too often since they are mostly sent on missions. They can be helping a city evacuate for a tornado warning, calming down a raging pokemon or assisting a trainer caught in a rockslide. They are brave and strong and can only have pokemon as committed to the cause as they are. The more missions a ranger completes, the more fame they get and the bigger a celebrity they become. Even novice trainers who rise through the ranks fast enough get recognition and favor on the streets of Orion. A life of service ain’t all that bad.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • You can choose to be on a mission at the beginning of your topic. Simply inform a moderator and they will give you an assignment.

  • Assignments get harder the higher you raise in rank. But your pay will rise!

  • Based on their rank, rangers get a discount on everything that can be bought in Orion. From 5-15%.

  • Rangers, by default, find stronger and tougher pokemon than any other class.

  • Rangers get 3x the normal EXP from completing missions with their pokemon.

  • Rangers are not legally allowed to battle trainers recreationally. They will be penalized if caught doing so and get severely reduced EXP from recreational battles.

  • Rangers cannot compete in gyms or contest halls.

A moderator will let you know how well you have been rewarded for completing your mission (if you did) when you submit your topic for evaluation. Missions should be completed within 1 topic’s time, but you can always ask for an extension. Rangers of similar rank can work together in tag topics.

Misc

These people are not categorized as trainers mostly because they don’t have a desire to really train or battle. They might be too caught up in their profession or hobby to bother with it, so into the miscellaneous category they go! Examples of this class are:

Burglar: Focused on the getting loot! Well, other people’s loot. They may even go on treasure hunts. Any pokemon they get will definitely be in cahoots and have something to contribute to picking pockets.

Pokemaniac: Trade, trade, trade, trade! These people are fascinated with pokemon just because. They get discounts on pokeballs because they buy so darn much. They don’t battle often because they don’t want their pokemon to get hurt but probably aren’t too shy about pokemon contests.

When you choose to go MISC, you can be given random perks and rewards for whatever path you choose in this class. A burglar can opt to get more stars whenever they are rewarded money or ask a mod to give them something specific to their class, like a house to break into or a pokemon convention that’s in town if they are a pokemon fanatic. Or, they can simply think of these things to do on their own.

Characters in the miscellaneous class can still participate in gym battles and contest halls.

If you have an idea of what perks your MISC class should get, simply suggest it and a mod will approve/disapprove with edits or suggestions!

Ask a mod for help with classes if you need more clarification!
