Winter
Weather
The first great snowfall of a few days prior has coated the lands in a shining white that many would say is beauty embodied. The trees glimmer and chime with ice on their branches, and the evergreens are more vibrant and lively looking than at any other time in the year. The skies are cloudless, and with nothing to insulate the earth, temperatures drop low enough to be dangerous for long amounts of exposure at night.

The ice that has taken over the water has finally begun to thin; once it has melted entirely, normal naval activity can resume, as most ships are incapable of traversing such dangerous obstacles as enormous hull-piercing shards of ice. Most ships...

Name: Haruka Mizuki
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Country: Lascia
Class: Vigilante
Liege: -
Starting Town: Gaili
Chosen Weapon: Bladed Wooden Staff
Appearance:
Personality: Being a master of water in the very essence of magic, Haruka comes across as a very calm and composed follower of sorts, perhaps even displaying signs of heartlessness as she removes threads of emotion from work. Her cool and rational thinking was always the determining factor that kept her safe and sound, and that wouldn't change for anyone she would meet in the near future. Perhaps being a prodigy helps in the field of being rational: her surprising sharpness and alertness had allowed her to expose schemes and assassination plots even before enemies had the chance to get close to her.
And yet, her introverted characteristics were developed from the cold and passive mask she had been wearing since she was exposed to the cruel world. She wasn't soft-hearted and overwhelmingly compassionate deep inside, but her morals were reasonable and upright even for a normal human, which was always a huge surprise to those that knew her as a cold, passive witch that embraced magic and logic more than human emotions itself. Experiences, both smooth and rough, had shaped her to be one of hardy nature and resilience, but some scars were too deep to be healed. The gloves she wear mask the ugly truth behind her history, and her decision to roam the worlds as a Vigilante, walking out on her family of Vassals.
Despite all her characteristics, Haruka actually loves to have fun as well. She might appear warmer to her closer friends in the future, but it is no surprise for Haruka to treat any strangers skeptically and cautiously. She didn't need to be backstabbed again, anyway.
Biography: Talent itself is not enough. A flower's beauty is determined by its bloom, ot by its potential.
Haruka Mizuki was no ordinary girl. She was born, as many would have envied, in a family of riches, status and power - the Mizuki family. A General for a father was impressive, but what was really most prominent of Haruka's birth was the amount of concern and status given to her upon her birth: a burden which she would never wish to carry, and the attachment to the kind of life which she had always hated; one of politics, grace and rules. She never wanted to be a noble, but who could ever choose where they were born into? The materialistic outlook which many would have taken was shunned by dear Mistress Haruka. She knew what was life: a world beyond the limits of mankind, and where she would explore to the edges for the thrill and spiritual fulfillment of it.
But there was a catch. Haruka Mizuki had a dormant gift of being a prodigy in fighting. Never had she entertained the opportunities opened for her future in the military, but her family thought otherwise, priding their family's future and glory towards the capabilities of their two children. In Haruka's beliefs, the power granted to her was meant to serve as the protection of the oppressed, not for the military to exploit. She would use her gift to perhaps resolve bullying and gang issues within her means, but never would she allow the use of her talent in the battlefields to claim innocent lives of soldiers as courageous as her to defend their loved ones, not even for the sake of the country, or any high-sounding reasons that justified the breaking out of war.
Much as Haruka loved to continue on fighting, It was in Haruka's moral obligations not to use her powers for mass destruction. On the other hand, Haruka's brother, Hibashi, had a totally different idea of Haruka's talent and ability. Believing that her sister would eventually give in to government pressure, he colluded with the government in an attempt to rope Haruka in the military forces.
In the eyes of Hibashi Mizuki, a war was inevitable.
When Haruka Mizuki rejected the government's lucrative offer to join the military, one of the commanders got furious with the adamant attitude of his client. Ordering a sizable troop to seize control of the Mizuki Mansion, the commander struck the place at midnight. With Hibashi's help, the commander managed to break through the Mansion's exterior protection, only to trigger a huge battle with Haruka's father and his elite troops. Sensing defeat, the commander issued a withdraw command only to be swiftly pursued by Haruka and her personal guards. The commander was eventually rescued by Hibashi, who killed all of Haruka's troops and pierced through Haruka's right palm, rendering her temporarily incapable of fighting. Bleeding profusely and semiconscious, Haruka managed to leap onto a moving cart of goods with no owner around just before a chasing Hibashi caught up with her. Keeping her cover, Haruka allowed the cart to take her away, slowly falling asleep with a bunch of goods that might prove useful in some way or another...
When she woke up, she was already in Gaili. After a futile attempt to find the owner of the horse-cart, Haruka accepted her luck and took some of the goods before setting off. She would have nothing to do with the Mizukis anymore: after all, what were the chances that she would be greeted with open arms from Hibashi after what happened? She had always wanted to explore the world, and now that she was free from the woes of politics, this was the perfect opportunity.
Mistress Haruka Mizuki died on the day she left her home. She was reborn the day she awoke in Gaili, not as Mistress Haruka Mizuki...
But merely as Haruka.
RP Sample: Drip. A drop of blood slid across Haruka's face, mingled with the sweat on her forehead as it built up into a ball of fury, before meeting with Haruka's tongue. The magician hadn't even realized that she was bleeding this badly, but from her sixth sense, she was at least aware that her physical condition wasn't going to last her for too long. Her right glove was already totally red, and her line of vision just got blurrier and blurrier for every step she took. The light-headed experience was already driving her crazy, and the more she tried to stay sane, the more confused and dizzy she got. Ah, such were the unpleasant side effects of sustained injuries after any battle, especially if she wasn't able to acquire treatment fast enough.
Still, weaving through the trees was no problem for Haruka, even in this state. Experience proved enough to overcome the impossibility to think. Haruka, being battle trained, was all too familiar with tactical movements within the forests to be able to weave through the woods silently without thinking, while keeping her cover perfectly from outsiders. Hibashi was quite a mean foe; Haruka would have expected her brother to show some mercy towards her own sister, but even her staff-wielding skills were no match for her brother's sheer strength and fist-fighting skills. And from the looks of it, Hibashi was quite serious about dragging her to the military, be it for his promotion to a higher rank, or a perfect way to get rid of his sister and claim all of Mizuki's wealth to himself. Okasan and Obasan were getting rather old in age after all, and to Hibashi, they were probably more useful dead than alive anyway.
A rustling of the woods. Right, Hibashi was just right behind her. With a casual leap, Haruka jumped over to the other row of trees effortlessly, leaving a small patch of blood stains on where she stood before. It can't be helped; Haruka had no time to consider the possibility of cleaning up the stains. It would be detrimental to her future if she had been caught up with Hibashi, and the exit didn't seem too far from where she was anyway. Melding into the shadows, Haruka sneaked her way towards a narrow path between the trees, which seemed to wield the road to the exit.
Her intuitions were right. The end of the narrow rows of trees led to a main route, with absolutely no hiding places for even the smallest of figures like her. This would have been a perfect chance for Haruka to trick Hibashi to moving down the path, if she wasn't bleeding at all, and the route was complex enough for a possibility for her to hide. With Hibashi just behind her, Haruka really had no choice but to jump onto the main route... wait, a cart?
Just seconds before the figure behind her leapt, Haruka managed to jump onto the cart, and lying under the cover of the straw on the cart, Haruka prayed for Hibashi not to notice the cart at all. The sounds of trotting was all too constant, but for what seemed like eternity, there was no follow-up of soft landings or sprinting at all. Right, Haruka was finally saved... and perhaps, she could take a nap before coming out of the cart. Like anyone would've cared about a girl sleeping in a cart...
It was dawn. Haruka stretched from beyond her cart and ,upon examining her wounds, realized that there were some gems to be taken from the cart of junk: A seemingly complex encyclopedia of animal like things which Haruka realized afterwards to be Pokemon, A bunch of Pokeorbs, some Potions, and most importantly of them all, a whole lot of bandages clean enough to be used. By utilizing a Potion or two, Haruka had managed to clean and bandage her wounds neatly. Haruka looked around the area once again, taking in what she could see about this town, this very familiar town... Gaili!? She was that far away from home?
Right. Like she could get back home anyway. Taking a deep sigh, Haruka took all that seemed useful to her and added on to her existing equipment (of flint and tinder and rope) inside the satchel. This was perhaps god's will for her to break apart from her family, and to explore the world like nobody's business but hers. She couldn't get back; Hibashi would never let her anyway. Now that she was free and easy, she would probably live her new life as a Vigilante, free of the original restrains placed on her.
Well, judging from her brother's concern about his pride, at least the entire government troops wouldn't go after her.

Oh, please don't be. It's MY fault for not reading the rules thoroughly enough before beginning...
Anyway, it's all edited out. Sorry for the inconvenience caused!

Wow, an awesome rewrite! I think you probably forgot a line in personality, but that's fine, haha. We can just get that out of there later. One other li~ttle problem though, and I'm sorry for the hold-up about it. >.< The whole tree-leaping thing is a bit much for this; no matter your training, I don't think anyone here will ever be leaping over trees, haha.
I think if you can edit that little bit out though, we'll be good to go.... Sorry! >.<

Oh. I'm sorry about my inability to express myself clearly. However, I believe I meant it to be weaving between forests, not jumping over or on top of trees. I believe this is the line that caused some confusion:
- Quote:
-
Haruka jumped over to the other row of trees effortlessly, leaving a small patch of blood stains on where she stood before.
I meant Haruka was jumping across the narrow path, to get to the other side. If that is still not clear, picture a road with rows of trees on either side. Haruka was basically jumping from the left side, across the path, to the right side. Or viceversa.
- Quote:
-
Still, weaving through the trees was no problem for Haruka, even in this state.
Haruka was basically moving within the forests, seeking cover from tree to tree while still on the ground. Think of it as military camouflage or something.
Very sorry for the not-so-refined sign-up; I didn't really have time to vet through it thoroughly. Please feel free to criticize about anything unacceptable in this sign-up, and I'll get to it.
Sorry.

I'm flattered. ^^ And thanks for the awesome choices too.
I'm generally torn between Absol and Staryu (its evolution is superb) but for the sake of moving on I think I'd take a Female Absol, named Drow, with Zen Headbutt and Substitute as her egg moves.
And thanks for the prompt reply.
