Weather
The first great snowfall of a few days prior has coated the lands in a shining white that many would say is beauty embodied. The trees glimmer and chime with ice on their branches, and the evergreens are more vibrant and lively looking than at any other time in the year. The skies are cloudless, and with nothing to insulate the earth, temperatures drop low enough to be dangerous for long amounts of exposure at night.

In light of several good points made that Banner Promos, and the like, are exclusive to those with skill in image manipulation, Enrua and I decided to throw a bone to those among us who like to write (and I'm guessing most/all of us do). In the future, each time we have an image-oriented competition, we'll also make a writing-oriented one. Both are open to everyone, and if you win one of them, you can still win the other.
If you're awesome at both, there's no reason to limit you.
For this one, you're going to be writing some of Innisfree's legends, the backstory. Unlike most RPs, you're going to have the chance to help construct and flesh out your very environment's story. These will be available for reference for new characters, in your story, whatever. The winners will become canon parts of PK's history.
Since we've had 2 Banner Competitions so far, 2 prizes are available for this one. We want to know the legends behind the selection of the very first ruler of each country. How the 3 Legendary Birds were involved with choosing Caledonia's first King, and how the 3 Legendary Beasts were involved in the selection of Lascia's first Queen. Keep in mind that this was approximately 500 years ago, in Innisfree, so there's no-one who was alive then alive now, or anything like that. Pokemon related technology and Magic are older, of course, and if you want to be a little creative with spells or how Pokemon were contained or whatever, feel free, but if it's too out of whack, it'll effect the judging. Try to find a nice medium, or stick to what we have, whichever suits you best.
There is neither a minimum nor a maximum, and you will have 1 month to complete them. You may only enter the contest for the Country in which you have a character. If you have a Lascian and Caledonian account both, both of them may enter for their country. If you only have 2 Lascian accounts, only one account can enter for 1 prize. Just as with the Banner Competition, each winner will receive one Common Summoning Scroll.
Good luck, everyone! This will be closed on October 11th, midnight Eastern time!

Are the Fossilized Pokemon still alive and roaming at this time? Did Caledonia pop up earlier than Lascia? Can/Is Lascia an offshoot of Caledonia? Did a large amount of humans exist then?
Darn, the whole paragraph's a bunch of questions.

They are not alive and roaming, but you can have mages still bringing the fossils to life if you like.
Yes a large amount of humans existed XD though they don't have to be an organized group. You can have Lascia be like, a bunch of tribal people who were brought together by the Dogs or something. Do what ya like ^_^
As for your other two questions I'll talk to Alexiel, but I think it would be okay to express your own creative liberties on those, if those details are crucial.
They'll be crucial... okay, they might be, I haven't made up my mind, but probably I should evade that angle, since the history of Caledonia and Lascia will probably be written by two different people... and it'll be tricky if they had connections with each other at the time, and the two histories, the two winners of this competition, didn't quite agree... X_X

ok, i'm not a fan of queens, so i'll do the king of caldoni aand the birds
It was a dark stormy night, and the three legendary birds were in discusion. "We have to find some one to lead the people of this westen half of the continenet of innisfree, much as the legendery beasts are doing in the east." Said Articuno, the great bird of ice. "But whoever we pick must be able to lead their people wisely, and bravely". remarked Moltress, the bird of . "Yes brother we must pick, i say a king for our western people." said zapdos, the bird of thunder. " Zapdos, i agree with you, but our final judgement will be made by the great ocean bird, lugia." Articuno remarked. Just at the mention of the name a storm brewed, the great bird lugia just arrived to aid in the judgement. In the presence of the beast the three birds bowed, to the best ability of a birds legs and talons legs and talons. "Great one, we wish to know who should lead the kingdom of the west?" Moltress asked. "The one to lead is your descion to make, i will not tell you what and who you must pick." At the remark of lugia the great bird returned to the sea . The three birds then moved to the silver whirl pool, it could reveal secrets of the continent. When they looked into the pool they saw a young man who seemed to be the true king. His name was caldonia. Then the three birds waped to the young mans location. " Do not be afraid, we do not wish to harm you". Zapdos said. "You are destined to be king of the western country." Moltress added. "Wait, i'm going to be king, of this country." The young man said "i'm not even of royal blood, i'm only peasent boy." Caldonia said. "Yes we know, but you are the one chosen to be king, king caldonia." Arcticuno said "and the nation is yours to rule." The boy said "very well, i will be your king". "fine, by the power invested in us by lugia i dub you king caldoia the first, king of the new country...Caldonia." said moltress, zapdos, and arcticuno at once. With that the first king of caldoina was crowned, and all kings to date are desendints of the king caldonis the first.
In this thread? Wa. So length is limited. Hm-hm. *nods sagely*

Ideally the legends should be independent of one another, as they were separated by mountains at the time and this far back trade between them obviously wouldn't the same, since they weren't them at the time. Mentioning how long it's been since the other was made an actual country shouldn't come into it. At least not to the point of needing to know the number of years.

I know it's not actually good. imo it's at least decent though right :D
Over 500 years past, when Caledonia was united under one king, Lascia was split into three: the Kingdom of Raikou, the Kingdom of Entei, and the Kingdom of Suicune. Each was ruled by a powerful king, and allied with a beast whose power was legendary. Wishing to expand their kingdoms, they warred amongst each other. As they fought, the beasts fought with them, and their pokémon servants fought with their vast armies, wreaking havoc upon the land. The mages, too, were gifted with their power.
The Kingdom of Raikou had the greatest power. The pokémon wielded the element of electricity, blasting their opponents with lightning. The mages cast destructive spells, devastating enemy contingents with little regard to the loss of life. It was against the Kingdom of Suicune they were most effective, and when the beasts clashed, it was Raikou whose victorious roar rumbled throughout the land.
The Kingdom of Suicune had the least power, although their numbers were vast. They were victorious over every battle at sea or by rivers and lakes, and nearly controlled all the waterways in the land. However, their power was limited on land, where Raikou and Entei fought, and when they left their safe havens, they could be destroyed. Their mages had the power of healing, restoring the lives of those on the brink of death. Though the armies were weak, the armies of Entei fell under their might.
It was the Kingdom of Entei that would fall first. Its wrath was not so great as the Kingdom of Raikou, and its fury was dampened when faced with the torrential rage of the Kingdom of Suicune. Though the beasts of flame scorched the opposing armies, they were as easily destroyed by the power of lightning and drowned by the massive waves of Suicune. The mages were gifted with the power to enchant their weapons and armour, and they were less easily destroyed, but destroyed they were.
…but worst of all, it was they whom Caledonia struck first.
In their war amongst each other, the three kings had forgotten the powerful, united kingdom separated by a range of mountains.
It is said that the Kingdom of Entei was destroyed in a night and a day, and the Caledonians marched ever-onward, to the Kingdom of Raikou. If the Kingdom of Raikou became Caledonia’s, Suicune knew, the Kingdom of Suicune would be surrounded by enemies. As they watched in worry, the injured Entei and its king stumbled into Suicune’s territory, crying for mercy and peace. Suicune wished to destroy this enemy for the final time, and Suicune’s chosen king raised his blade over his rival’s neck.
But it was his daughter, his only child and heir, whose voice cried out to stop them.
Under her insistence, Suicune instead healed Entei and listened to its pleas. Entei’s king begged to join the remains of his army to Suicune’s, so that they would destroy the invasion. To save his people from the Caledonians, he said, he would surrender his kingdom to Suicune. And so it was done.
The Kingdom of Raikou was collapsing under their very eyes, and though Entei desired to join Raikou, Suicune’s hatred was too great. Suicune wished to see its greatest enemy fall under an infinitely more powerful enemy. Suicune refused to help Raikou or its people, and declared its refusal for all to hear.
But it was then that Lascia, heir to the Kingdom of Suicune, vanished.
Alone but for her trusted squirtle, totodile, mudkip, and piplup, she braved the wilderness and fled the armies, appearing once again in Raikou’s court. Though it nearly struck her down, her pleas and reasoning reached its heart and mind. With a great roar like rumbling thunder, it declared it would join its forces with Suicune and Entei, and so it was done.
Suicune had no choice, and could not turn Raikou down.
United, the three beasts raged through the land, striking down the three birds. Entei defeated Articuno, Suicune was victorious over Moltres, but it was the most powerful, Raikou, at a stalemate against Zapdos. However, Entei came to Raikou’s aid, and together they defeated Zapdos.
With one final shriek, Zapdos brought all of its power in a bolt of lightning, throwing it at Suicune before it fled. Suicune could not avoid the fury of the lightning, and knew its weakness meant this would kill it. Yet Raikou leapt to take the attack, screaming as the electricity meant to take a life instead coursed through its body, destroying it.
Raikou had protected Suicune. Yet its wounds were great, and its blood stained the land red.
Suicune, though it had not desired to aid Raikou against Zapdos, was moved by its protection. Suicune healed Raikou, and then Entei, and together they celebrated their victory. But it had come at a cost: all three kings were dead.
The beasts agreed to unite peacefully, looking over their devastated land. It was decided that Suicune, whose power was to heal, would choose a king, as healing was what the now-single kingdom needed the most. But all three already knew who deserved to be king the most – the girl, now a woman, who had brought them together.

The first Queen of Lascia This is a tale of war and magic. In an era long lost but far from forgotten. Even before this part of the land was called Lascia, even before we knew of what was behind the Borderline... The exact date was lost but all sages agrees that it happened few centuries ago, even before the inventions of the first Pokeorb. Pokemons were wild and free. They weren't ruthless beasts neither, most of them were intelligent enough, or stupid enough, to ally themselves with humans. These were the first bonds between us and these magnificent creatures.
They said that this part of the Ilse was already occupied by both Humans and Pokemons. But they weren't living together. In fact, Humans were from the south, a small portion of the land already filled with wars, while the Pokemons, from the North, a larger haven of tress and peace. One was scared of the other, the other was scared from the first one. It was fear that caused this chasm between the two nations. Rarely would one go to the other side, never would one come back to his own side. They would stay like that, in fear and without seeing each others for centuries...
As the years passed, one human went to the other side with hope of discovering a new world. he would stay hiding in the forests, lurking like a shadow, carefully watching the Pokemons. "Look at them beast! How comes such animals has the bigger part of the Ilse?" Such trivial questions will be the start of a new war... As he returned home, he wasn't alone. In his arms, a dead Pokemon was his trophy. "Look how weak they are! We should be kings! Not them!" And thus, the great war began.
Preparations were quickly made, more and more humans went to the other side claiming heads and tails. While the Pokemons were more than us, they were least organized. Humans would quickly cut the forest and make new homes and roads. As chaos reigned in the North, leaders came forth. We still do not know who they are but we do know that, from this day, it was now a real war. As both nations wages battles over battles... Nothing was being accomplished, only the seas, trees and lands were painted in red. Even the rain became blood...
They would fight meaninglessly for over a long time, with no sign of peace in either side. Until one day, one man stood up in the south. His name isn't written anywhere nor remembered. But this one man was going to change everything. With his sword and magic, he went to the north seeking not war but peace. "I will bring this war to an end if and only if you join me." An bold move. Why would the Pokemons trust one who betray his own kind? As every Pokemons ignored his words, three very wise Pokemons joined him.
These three are those that we now call the Legendary Dogs of Lascia. Entei the Strong, old and wise. Raikou the Swift, young and free. Suicune the Pure, sole sister and leader of the three. Under the guidance of this one man, the clouds finally stop raining blood. All four of them went to the center of the war, right were the castle of Partholon is standing today. They would be a wall, keeping Humans on one side and Pokemons on the other. Only those that wanted a peaceful coexistent could stay safe with them. None challengers would live to tell the tale. "Come and join me if you want to live." It was an warning for both nations.
And thus, an new era begun. As more and more followers joined the original four, both side started losing faith in their previous goal. But some of them were also questioning the man's goal. Was ending war with more war a good solution? To answer that question, it was one woman that stood up. She went alone to face the four warlords armed only with words and hope. No one really knows what she said to them... But we know that all four of them bowed in front of this single woman... In front of the first Queen of Lascia.
The four warlords each went to different locations. Entei went North, creating Lughbaidh. Suicune went west to Safeguard the Forest of Ae. Raikou went East to free Dogheda. The Human went south to secure Gaili. As for the Queen, she stay in the center to watch the other four, Partholon was formed. All five of them were retelling the words of the Queen, words so powerful that everyone would listen and dream of a new future. This was approximately 500 years ago. It was when Lascia was formed. None of them rested until peace was fully restored.
Then one day, the four warlords simply disappeared without a trace. Only the Queen remained on her throne. "They went away as they thought that Lascia no longer needed their help. They are symbols of war and of an darker time. Let them rest and let us continue in their memories. But do not fear, they have not abandoned us. As they will return only in darker times..." The Queen was very wise and still today, we still believe her words. "Let them rest." As she repeated.
Are they really still alive? No one really knows. Some says that they are still out there, carefully guarding us like watchful dogs. As for the man, some says that the Legendary Trio gave him a new life as Ho-oh. Some even says that they seldom sees him above Lascia, eternally watching. But as there's no certain proof of people seeing them. Perhaps it is a sign that bright days are still ahead of us. So let's celebrate and hope that they won't need to come back anymore.
