The battle spot is the area where trainers will come to partake in battles. When two trainers agree to battle in one of our In-Character forums, they will then come here in order to do the battle so as to not flood the thread with battle dialogue. At this point, the trainers will create a battle spot post, follow the necessary guidelines and begin the battle. Once the battle is complete, they will then return to the thread they were previously in to role-play the conclusion of the battle and then resume role-playing as usual. Anyone is allowed to spectate the scene in the battle spot and is free to comment so long as they are not disruptive. We want to be cooperative and immersive! The following guidelines should help make it much easier to Rp.

Upon initiating a battle, one of the participants will create a thread in the Battle Spot, coordinate with one another through the official Discord as to who will be creating this. The title of the thread should include "Trainer 1 vs. Trainer 2." You may post the winner in the description once the battle has resolved.

Once a battle has been started it must be completed within 24 hours after it has been started, unless the two participants agreed on it lasting longer. This should be enough time for members in drastically different time zones to conclude a battle. This is to ensure that people are not trapped within a battle for days. If you don't think that you will be able to continue the battle you may forfeit the match or discuss with your opponent a course of action. Please be smart about battling, if you don't have enough time to finish within a day, do not start a battle unless you agree with your opponent on a certain timeframe.

If a winner is not declared within 24 hours (unless agreed upon by both parties to keep going), the party awaiting the conclusion of the scene will receive a win and the wagered Battle Points. Notify staff immediately if a similar situation arises.

While you are waiting for a battle to conclude, you are free to scene in other threads, but you are not allowed to start a new battle until the current one is finished. Tracking your battles is advised and can be done by scrolling to the bottom of a thread and clicking the "Track Topic" option. It is at the bottom far right of the website next to the clock.

The first part of the thread should have a link to the post in the In-Character section where the battle was initiated.

There should also be a link in the In-Character forum, linking to the Battle Spot thread. These should be concealed utilizing the I accept your challenge!. You may type whatever fits best for the "I accept your challenge" line, be creative!

Once a url has been established in both the In-Scene forum, and the Battle Spot and a wager has been made then the battle may begin.

Trainers may decide to either fight with the Ranks that their Pokémon currently possess, or implement Flat Battle rules, in which both competitor's Pokémon will be temporarily raised to Rank 5. Only their rank and corresponding Hit Points will change, their moves will remain the same.

The Torment Clause is in effect. This means that trainers are not allowed to use the same move twice in a row, and must alternate between moves in dice battles. If an attack is dodged, it is the same as missing; this means the same move cannot be used again even if it misses or is dodged.

All battles formats may decide on an ante of at least 1 BP to wager. The wager may increase depending on what the participants agree on. Winning will grant you 2 BP as a bonus, even if one was ante'd. You do NOT have to wager any BP if both participants agree to those terms.

All attacks must be bolded and color coded for clarity. Example: "Blastoise, use Hydro Pump!"

All Trainers are allowed 2 dodges per battle and are required to keep track of them in their battle threads. For more information please check out the Battle Mechanics thread linked below. These dodges must be bolded for easy identification. Example: "Venusaur, use Poisonpowder to stop him in his tracks! / Pikachu leap out of the way of the attack! [dodge 1/2]"

Trainers must decide if switching Pokémon during the battle is allowed. This may either take place before an attack occurs or after. Participants must also state how many Pokémon they will be using in the battle. Discuss with your opponent what the rules of the battle will be beforehand.

Both participants will then follow the Battle Mechanics thread, located here in order to determine how the battle will play out.

It is advised to check out your opponent's biography before battle, to keep track of the moves that are being used in battle to ensure that they are not going over the 4-move limit.

Upon completion of the battle, the description must be updated with the winner. Any change in BP must be properly recorded and Role-played in the battle thread. A link to the battle must be included in the update section of your biography. Any change in BP must be properly recorded and Role-played in the battle thread. This is to ensure that a moderator verifies the encounter and approves it as "valid."

An example format of this would be:

1.) Thread Title: Red vs. Blue
     2.) Title Description: Red wins!
     3.) Thread: Red challenges Blue!
     4.) Wager: _BP (if applicable)
     5.) Switches: Allowed/Not Allowed/Specific Number
6.) # of Pokémon being used: Specify Number
7.) Scene begins here, after deciding who will go first
     8.) Scene proceeds
9.) Scene ends, proceed back to In-Character Thread and update biography accordingly. Post update link in the Updates thread in the Aether Paradise forum.
