Another stupid trade war between Canada and the U.S.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has clobbered aerospace giant Bombardier with a hefty 219 per cent countervailing duty on the sale of its CS100 commercial jets to a U.S. airline following a trade complaint from an American rival

Once again, when a major U.S. corporation can't compete with a Canadian supplier they take the easy way out.... they come up with some absurd one sided ruling..... in this case, a 220% duty..obviously dictated by someone completely disconnected from reality.

This one is especially stupid as both Boeing and Airbus are subsidized to the hilt, and have offered ridiculous discounts on their planes for some time now.

Even more stupid than that is that neither Boeing nor Airbus make an airplane as small as Bombardier is selling - there's no competition in any case.

And even dumber yet is that about 50% of the parts come from the US anyway - Boeing is hurting American jobs.

I suspect that will mean canceling from boeing for military jets. Why should canada buy from a company that is trying to kill a Canadian compnay. All canadian airlines should cease any purchase of planes made by boeing and buy from airbus instead.

I don't know if you remember when the US slapped an import tax(or what ever it was)on soft wood from Canada , but the cost of building a house went up 15% in California almost immediately .

I remember very well. The u.s winning on this subject was found completely illegal by The World Trade Organization 9 times before the u.s. finely let go at the condition they keep the surcharge they illigally pocketted during the 4 years of court battle. They litterally stole 5.7billion$ from Canadien producers.
They even stopped 5 truck loads of plywood for 2 days at the border waiting for the illegal payment of they export tarifs. The trucks were en route to Louisiana after the Katrina huricane...all donated by local producers.

Thats our government. Congress has never met a tax they didn't like. It caused a major disruption in the home building industry.

Newturd would call BS on that statement but I had several friends in the industry that almost went out of business because of it.

Now they have slapped an additonal ludicrous 80% duty on Bombardier C series jets on top of the 212%. Canada should pull out of all military aircraft purchases from the US and buy them of Britain or somewhere else instead.

Those very wise Canadians (specifically from Quebec) along with some very wise European businessman have agreed to build and sell the Canadian CSerie aircraft from a Airbus factory located in Mobile Alabama. This factory will supply only American clients (like DELTA Air 75 unit order.)
The CSerie is that super aircraft Boeing feared so much that they try to convinced Washington to raise a import tarrif of 300%.(Stupid)
Will trump be stupid/fool enough to maintain such a tarrif on a U.S. made/built aircraft in Alabama????
Boeing has received thousands of
