Yes thats why we pump our own oil out of the ground, refine it here and we are paying double the price per gallon of every other state
Well, hell, you could go back to the good old days of smog draped cities and polluted water if all you think about is the price of gasoline.
well hell, did u read corkys post?
Yes I did. It talks about 15 years from now. That should be enough time to convert to alternatives and if it isn't, the law can be amended.
Is there any other state that does what California is already doing? No. I think all they will do is destroy our economy even more. BTW we do not have polluted water like many other states.
Furthermore, I am not asking to "go back" to smog draped cities. I am asking for reasonable alternatives and deadlines.
Do not forget I have a 12kw solar photovoltaic system on my house.
The joke about CA is they punish the ones making an effort. For example, I cut my water usage back over a year ago. I took out my lawn and went with a desert landscape and hardly use any water. But they just implemented new rules and somehow I must cut MY water usage by 35% or be fined. I ask, how do I do that? Take 35% less showers? As it is I wet, soap up and turn water back on to rinse. WTF am I to do so I too do not get fined. The rules saud everyone, not the ones who have yet to cut back.....EVERYONE
Reasonable alternatives and deadlines are debatable. What you think is unreasonable, someone else might think isn't enough.
And what are you doing?

jcapps,
There are provisions in the rules to cover people like us who have already made the cuts, check the back of the notice you got, they should be listed there.

I never received the notice. I am going by the interview I saw with the DWP spokesman

jcapps,
I think I saw the interview you refer to, shock and awe, with a lot of poetic license! The fact is that you are already covered, if you can save more and do, great, but you are covered if you've already made the changes.

Unfortunately you'll still get hit with the water cost increases, but that's across the board and will escalate in log fashion as you use more, even if you've cut by 35%!

We should never use our own resources and provide our own gas and oil. It is better to get it from the middle east so we can send our soldiers over there to die for it. Much better that way. Shut down all oil production in the United States and surrounding waters, we need more soldiers killed.
LOL, now that is different take on it. in some ways I agree, middle east oil will eventually run out and if north America is the only place that has it, we control the planet..

I got a note with my utility bill a month or 2 ago that showed I had cut my water usage by 55% and my power by 30% . the shock was how much the bill was . It was 60 bucks more than the same billing period last year. I guess I should be thankful I spent all that money to be more efficient.

WJ's,
Time to call the power and water providers and ask for an audit and explanation of the lower use and higher costs, what changed and why?

Most companies will do this for you with a simple request. You might find that something changed that you didn't catch. I had one tenant who lost a senior discount and didn't realize it, that was worth about $30 a month.

I called them and found out that there was a water rate increase as well as a power increase. The bill would have been 45 dollars les under last years rates

Discount was lost when the daughter changed the account to her name to get the bills sent to her address. Account has to be in the correct name or discount is lost.

WJ's,
Man that was a hefty hit to take, even worse if you hadn't done the upgrades.
