When the IMF decides whether to declare the chinese yuan as a world reserve currency.

This could have a major negative effect on the US dollar which has been overvalued for years if you look at debt vs GDP ratios.

The alarmist take on it

More conservative take:

The change in Reserve Currency will finish the job of moving the world center to China and allow the MegaCorps to drain the last large chunks of capital from North America.

I see you are in the alarmist camp, Corky. The scary thing is you could well be correct.

Paul,
I don't see the change as either alarming nor bad. Presiding over the collapse of the economic system as the climate changes increase puts limits on the power in charge, that we in North America are better off without.

As long as it is not rapid.

Paul,
Time to quit worrying about the world economics and start to plan for the coming impacts of a much more unstable world in all respects. Masses of people will be moving across the connected land areas to find water, food and living space, think about where the edges are.

Short term the change to Yuan would make the break line between the oligarchs and the rest of us VERY clear, lots of paper rich won't be any more.

Well I still think water is going to be the big issue. The population bomb along with Climate change is shaping up as the Perfect Storm.

Paul,
Check a world population density map and then find the same map with coloration by age.

Lots of variables, but people on the move don't make things or grow food. Water and clean water are also not the same thing and people moving have neither sewer systems nor water filtration plants.

Nice to have a large mote on both sides of us and a choke point to a relatively low population area to the south of us.
