Probably off topic. Does not the vast distances, as now understood, pretty much negate the theories that earth has been visited by visitors from elsewhere? |

The lack of REAL evidence negates the claims (it is not theory in the scientific sense) we have "been visited by visitors from elsewhere." As Enrico Fermi asked, "Where are they?" |

Or our solar system is quarantined because we are too dangerous to let loose beyond it. Think of it this way. Look at the tech advances on this planet in just 200 years. If you were aliens who visited in the mid 1800's and then left for a short while, wouldn't you find the changes alarming? Looking at it from another angle you can also argue than any space faring society likely evolved from the dominant predator on any planet they originated on. Using that argument you can deduce that any visitors are likely to be hostile or have no qualms about supplanting us. Although to get into space they woudl have had to develop some sort of co-operative society. More likely, any species intelligent enough to get into space has likely self destructed long before they have sufficient technology to reach us. That seems to be our likely path. |
