Should we be doing more for Syrians?

The recent drowning of 2 Syrian boys & their mothers is influencing the election here. They were rejected as refugees in Canada despite the fact they had family here already. Canada has taken in quite a measly number, & I think the story is much the same in the US. Trudeau is calling for us to accept 25,000, but that is drop in the bucket compared to Germany which is saying they will take 800,000. Is it time to put our humanity ahead of our prejudices? Maybe we could establish a large camp in a remote part of Canada financed by both the US & Canada, where they could live until the situation stabilizes enough to send them home, at least. Allow them to apply for permanent residency in the US or Canada from there, where we can screen out any potential radicals and pre-train them for work.

As far as Syria is concerned, talk about a rock & hard place, you cant fight IS without helping Bashir. It may come to a point where we are forced to battle IS head on, but it needs to be an Arab initiative not an American one or we will just create more trouble.

You heard Harper yesterday? He is convinced Canada is already doing its share.
He clearly said military action is the only way to address the refugee crisis.
Harper made a commitment to settle 13,000 Syrian refugees in Canada.... so far, only approx. 2,300 were accepted, most of those being under the sponsorship program (with very little government implication).

Remember, they multiply like rabbits.

It would help if they were Caucasian. It should have hit home with Canadians, At the start of WW2 we turned back a ship of Jewish refugees, most ended up in death camps. Link
