Personality: If strength was measured by the size of a man's ego, then Chronos would be considered divinity. Suffering from a god complex, Chronos believes that he is stronger then anyone or anything close to him, simply because he exists. While there is strength to back up these claims, they are still exaggerated by an over-inflated ego. Chronos generally acts like everything and everyone is beneath him, considering just about everything to be a waste of his time. Despite this, he still listens to what others have to say... if only because he feels they should be honored by his very presence. The only emotion that matches Chronos' pride and arrogance is his sadism. Despite all he has been through in his life, Chronos is ruthless in getting what he wants, and is willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve his goals. A single corpse and a mountain of bodies mean no difference if his goals are accomplished. It should be noted that Chronos is only human, and as such, is not without his faults. While Chronos is patient, he is prone to outbursts of rage due to a short temperament. Additionally, Chronos' large ego hides a shattered and broken individual that is, in truth, terrified of the world that has time and time again hurt him. As a result of this, Chronos has come to believe that the only way to bury this side of him is to become so strong that nobody can hurt him ever again. It is this attitude that has led Chronos into a mutual partnership with Elaine de Uriel. Elaine is the only person Chronos holds as an equal to himself, and while he tends to follow his own path, he cooperates with the girl when he needs to do so, especially when it benefits him in the end. History: Born to a loving set of parents within a small community in Hiraa's Desert, Chronos lived a fairly ordinary childhood. He was a fairly shy and quiet boy, and was slow to warm up to others, but was known for his loyalty to those he befriended. For the most part, the boy lived undisturbed for four years, his only real issue in life being the horrific wait to when the next merchant might arrive bearing news of the lands outside of the desert community... and as fate would have it, the next merchant did indeed bring news of the outside world. And with that news came fire, death, and an end to the peaceful life that Chronos had once known. In the span of a single night, Chronos' peaceful life came crashing down as he and several other children were forcibly ripped from their parent's arms by a band of raiders that had descended upon the village. Whether these arms were chopped off to make things easier, or their owners simply slain, was of no concern to the kidnappers. Before long, most if not all of the village was reduced to naught but cinder and ash, with the children taken captive alongside whatever women the raiders could get their hands on. None of them knew where they were being taken, but if any of them did something wrong according to the raiders, they would be beaten senseless. Of course, that didn't mean the raiders didn't just beat some of them for fun, as they did with Chronos, with the child blacking out shortly after. When Chronos next opened his eyes, it was to the sight of rough brown rock and scorching heat. Though he had been born and raised in the desert, he'd yet to feel heat anywhere near as bad as this. He would later learn that he, along with everyone else from the village, had been brought to work in some strange place near Mt. Taisenga. If they resisted, they'd be beaten to a stupor, but if they worked exceptionally hard and did as they were told, then they would be rewarded for their hard work. At first, Chronos was slow to learn and was beaten often, but eventually, he would learn to excel at any chore or task he'd been given, whether it was the simple cleaning of equipment or the mining of ore and stone. This struggle would continue for four years before Chronos would finally earn his reward. At the age of eight, Chronos was escorted away from the other slaves and further into the tunnels that had been his home and workplace for years, only to be brought to a room that was truly the stuff of nightmares. Gathered in cages and cells were other slaves that had been "rewarded" for their hard work, and as Chronos saw them, they were like gray, hollow versions of their former selves. Their skin clung to their bones, their eyes were a milky white, and a gaping hole was present in their chests, surrounded by what he could only imagine was burnt and infected tissue. The boy, terrified for the first time in four years, was brought into the room and strapped to a table with his tattered shirt removed. Despite his screams and his struggles, he was unable to break free, and immediately fell silent as strange men in white coats flooded into the room carrying a strange red stone, as well as tray upon trays of strange looking equipment... one of which caused Chronos to resume his struggle with renewed vigor: a scalpel. Before long, the men had fallen upon him, holding him down and barking orders his fear-addled mind couldn't, or simply refused to, comprehend as they set the scalpel to his chest. The world was a series of white flashes and things he couldn't understand, and for years to come, he would be unable to understand them as one of the men set the strange red stone in his chest. The world seemed to explode after that. Reacting to the Ethos sitting dormant in his body, and violently at that, the red stone set about healing the incisions made into the boy's body, slowly embedding itself deeper into his chest as it did so. Chronos screamed the entire time in horrendous pain as lightning tore itself from his body in bloody gashes, with these wounds quickly healed by the stone in his chest. This lightning indiscriminately attacked everyone and anyone in the room. The men in white were violently sent into spasms as their bodies were overloaded, the equipment they'd been using suffering a similar fate before they exploded. When the display finally ended, Chronos was on the verge of blacking out on the table in an empty room surrounded by corpses. The last thing Chronos would see before he finally blacked out was more white men approaching, followed closely by a strange old man carrying a small girl with blonde hair. When Chronos next awoke, it was on a luxuriously large bed of silk and fur. Confused and with no memory of how he'd gotten there, Chronos tried to remember how he might have wound up where he was... only to find that he was unable to remember anything substantial beyond his own name. Now more confused, Chronos tried to leave the bed, but found that his body would not respond properly, and as such, he fell from the bed and onto the cold floor when his legs gave out. In his attempt to pick himself up off the floor, Chronos was able to deduce several things, even with an eight year old mind: he felt weak and light, he was unable to see out of his left eye, and his left arm refused to move when he tried to do so, instead hanging limply at his side. Whatever commotion he had caused during his fall from the bed had been met with people entering the room... specifically two people in white coats. For reasons unknown to him, the sight of these men terrified Chronos, and before he could properly react, a bolt of lightning exploded from the nearby window and pierced one of the men through the chest. The second man froze, staring at the child in fear before taking a cautious step forward, trying his best to reassure the scared boy... though his efforts were for naught as flashes of men in similar white coats passed by Chronos' eyes, and by instinct alone did the lightning still coursing through the corpse of the first man gather and leap to the second, killing him in a similar fashion. For a while, Chronos merely remained on the floor crying before someone approached him, holding him gingerly. Opening his working eye revealed it to be... an older man that held Chronos to his chest, something that Chronos' mind registered as protection. Over time, the man explained to Chronos that he had been undergoing surgery to correct a birth defect. Having been born with too much ethos in his system, Chronos had been fitted with a stone meant to help the flow, but as a side-effect, his body had gone into shock. This had caused most of Chronos' own ethos to quickly vacate his body and, as a result of the shock, most of his memories were lost as his mind attempted to protect itself from trauma. When Chronos asked who the old man was, he introduced himself as Thaddeus de Uriel, CEO of the Linuel Mining Company and his father. Chronos would, for the most part, remain bed-ridden for the next two years as he regained his strength, and when he turned ten, he was finally able to walk and move around of his own volition again... though he still could not move his left arm, and his left eye remained blind, something that Thaddeus called an unfortunate side effect of the surgery he'd undergone. Finally able to move around the home he'd inhabited, Chronos eagerly explored places he had been unable to go before, eventually stumbling upon a large garden near the center of the estate... A garden where a beautiful girl with lengthy blonde hair resided under heavy guard. Curious, Chronos tried to approach the girl, though was, at first, stopped by the guards before the girl told them to let him pass. Though the two were awkward at first, they managed to quickly warm up to one another due to their situations: Chronos, blind in one eye and without the use of his left arm, and the girl, introducing herself as Elaine de Uriel, unable to use her legs on her own. For the next several years, the two would be inseparable, with Chronos rarely leaving Elaine's side of his own volition. By the time Chronos turned seventeen, Thaddeus approached the boy with an offer: Thaddeus had both the wealth and the ability to restore use to Chronos' arm and eye, but only under the condition that he remain loyal to Elaine for the rest of his life. Eagerly accepting the man's offer, Chronos was brought to a portion of the estate contained deep underground, far away from prying eyes. Here, Chronos was witness to a side of Thaddeus that he had never even believed existed. Here, the man went on about how a combination of Ethos and technology could bring humanity into a golden age, and that he wanted Chronos to be the first stepping stone. While hesitant, the man assured Chronos that the procedure would go perfectly fine, and when it was done, not only would Chronos have his sight back, he would also be able to move his arm again, and most of all, he would grow stronger from the experience. While he held a seed of doubt, Chronos ultimately agreed, and after being strapped to a table, something that felt familiar to him for reasons unknown, Chronos was put to sleep. When he awoke, it was to the feeling of new strength welling up inside of his body... and to the sudden flashes of memory moving through his mind. Everything he had ever wanted to know about himself passed before his eyes... including the memories of his forgotten childhood. When Thaddeus approached the table to ask how Chronos felt, the boy broke free of his restraints and turned on his "father", accusing him of ripping his life away in order to replace it with some hollow imitation. Attempts from the others to stop Chronos were met with scathing bolts of lightning as he strangled Thaddeus in a fit of rage. When life finally left his body, he was rewarded with the sound of clapping, looking up to find Elaine and her wheelchair entering the room, a smile gracing her features in the face of what he'd just done. With the revelation that everything up to this point had been a lie, Elaine gave Chronos any answers her desired. His village had been destroyed to gather workers for a top secret project, as well as test subjects for it. The project had been conceived to give birth to a shard of Ethos strong enough to control the fabric of reality itself... or for Thaddeus, to return function to his daughter's legs. While Elaine was grateful to the man for trying, she found his plan to be shortsighted and ultimately anti-climactic. Why make something so strong for such a small purpose? When the girl learned the truth herself, she made steps to earn Chronos' trust, as he had been fitted with the only successful prototype of her father's "Phantom Ruby", even if it had been severely weakened during implantation. Initially distrustful of Elaine due to this statement, Chronos made to attack her before she admitted that, Phantom Ruby or no, she trusted him with her life, and considered him to be her closest ally and friend. While distrustful of Elaine for the time being, Chronos kept to himself, staying within the estate to test the limits of his power when the girl once again approached him with an offer. Due to her father's death, Elaine was next in line to assume control of the Linuel Mining Company, as well as any wealth and property the man held... which also included the Phantom Ruby plan. Elaine was willing to buy Chronos an apartment for him in Lillium in exchange for his silence, but at the same time, proposed another offer. In order to stave off would-be suitors, Elaine offered Chronos the position of being her fiance and confidant, wanting to continue the creation of a fully realized Phantom Ruby with him at her side, believing that they both stood to benefit from this deal. While hesitant at first, Chronos eventually took up her offer, assuming the guise of Rathallion de Uriel when he needed to join Elaine to social functions. Several years later, Elaine and Chronos continue their work on the Phantom Ruby, searching for ways to improve their prototypes and methods of creation. While Elaine remains behind to do most of the lab work, Chronos takes to the field to add to his strength almost constantly. With the strength he has gained, Chronos has taken to sometimes calling himself "Infinite", a moniker he believes to be befitting of his supposedly unending strength. Notable Relations:
Normal Appearance: Chronos possesses tan skin, long white hair generally pulled into a single long tail, and is rather tall. His body is muscular and covered in an assortment of scars, though the most prominent are the jagged ones that run along his left arm and one that crosses through his left eye. Normal, Chronos can be found in a dark gray muscle shirt, dark pants, an a pair of black greaves. All of this is covered by a tattered black coat. It should be noted that there are two strange markings near Chronos' left eye, and what looks to be some exposed machinery on his left arm, both of which were left over from Chronos' operation. While it restored his left arm, Chronos cannot see out of his left eye without a special mask designed by Elaine. It should be noted that Chronos' left eye is a hazy ice blue, while his right eye is a brilliant gold. Chronos' canines are more pronounced than most. While assuming the guise of Rathallion de Uriel, or if he is simply wandering around the Uriel estate, Chronos dons a rather fancy attire consisting of a white sleeved shirt, though the sleeves are normally rolled up, a black vest, black dress pants and shoes, and a tie. While this tie is normally a base black, he has been known to use a black and white striped tie on occasion. If he needs to dress more formally, Chronos compliments his attire with a black coat. When operating as Infinite, Chronos retains most of his normal attire, with the addition of a special mask to aid his sight. This mask clips onto the markings near his left eye, and allow him to see using both eyes. This mask is steel in color, and is highly ornate. Beyond letting Chronos see normally, this mask does nothing. Chronos' weapon, Heirsbane, holds it's place in a sheathe on his right hip. Height: 1.9m (6'3") Weight: 71.6kg (158lbs) Ethos Slots: | Slot 1: Illusory Reality | Slot 2: Lightning Ethos | Weapon Slots: | Slot 1: Heirsbane Accessory Slots:| Slot 1: Mask Highlights: - Character Theme: [ X ] Special Notes: Chronos' voice changes when Illusory Reality is being used, but the modified voice can only be heard by the target. To anyone else, Chronos will still sound the same. Edited by InfiniteChaos, Dec 19 2017, 01:29 AM.
