Personality: Independent, imaginative, prideful, and determined, Caminito is not easily overwhelmed or made uneasy because he finds coping mechanisms in the arts, the natural world, and in eccentric hobbies such as talking to himself (most often in rhymes). Childlike in understanding how the world works, Caminito grew up extremely sheltered in an isolated pocket out of touch with the modern world aside from the Internet and passersby. Caminito is a very emotional person, sometimes letting his feelings get the better of him and acting on fiery impulses- a trait he despises in others and even more in himself. Because of this, he is naturally sympathetic towards others, even when it gets him into trouble. He is prone to mood swings and bouts of selfishness, especially when caught up in his own personal lofty daydreams and goals.

One to avoid conflict, Caminito will likely try to talk his way out of situations when possible instead of fighting and favors subtlety and tact over aggression. He is very proud of his abilities and will not hesitate to help anyone who is in need, given they did not give him a good reason to withhold his ethos. Or given they did not upset him, as sometimes his temperament will cloud his better judgment and he will refuse to offer a few drops of healing aura to someone who offended or insulted him. Regardless of his shortcomings, Caminito faces most days with hopefulness and enthusiasm, and works hard to try and accomplish whatever goals he sets for himself.

History: In the Southern Cerezt Plains, small settlements dot the bases of foothills, warmed by gentle breezes that carry scents of the forest. Stopover destinations for adventurers and tourists, many natives built businesses catering to travelers. For example, Caminito's family owns a boarding house/ tea shop/ healer's/ tailor's called The Thyme is Ripe, a decently large building surrounded by gardens and farmland on three sides, and woods to the last. Such multipurpose buildings wouldn't make sense in a large city, but in a small community of only a few families, the Ambervales became a household name due to the many services they provided. The reputation was more or less to be expected since their bloodline carried the coveted healing ethos, and they were known to offer their services to those in need at a price that ensured no practicing doctor could afford to practice nearby. In the old days, they would go into battle to heal and defend their compatriots, but after the wars subsided, the clan settled down in a tranquil wilderness where they wouldn't be bothered by lords and ladies looking to recruit healers.

There was peace for a time, as the clan lived contentedly on their homestead, ranching, foraging, and clearing any labyrinths that appeared in their proximity using their powerful ethos and cooperation. As labyrinths became more commonplace and more powerful, professional Liberators began traveling to the area to take care of them, and naturally, the Ambervales' support came in handy... as did providing meals, beds, and the like. They became friends to the Liberation Society and well-known among adventurers as a safe place to stay when there were no other large settlements for miles, and several other houses popped up before the area around their homestead became a miniature community, tightly-knit and cooperative with the outside world when it came to business, which led to even more people settling down nearby when they wanted a peaceful life.

After a few generations, the line had been diluted to the point where even among the family it was uncommon to have healing ethos. Once Caminito began manifesting his ethos and it became clear that the family's source of pride flowed through his veins, great lengths were taken to teach him about the family's history and allow him to dream of one day becoming a hero like his ancestors. As a child, it was not uncommon for Caminito to watch some of his relatives accompany Liberators into labyrinths in order to mitigate damage or speak to the adventurers staying at his inn to learn more about the outside world. His childhood was full of practicing to use his ethos, from closing the wounds of wild animals encountered from hikes to helping relatives reform the muscles and bones of patrons and guests at the inn.

Because among the younger generations his ethos showed the most promise, it appeared that everyone was in agreement that once he came of age, Caminito would take control of the family's establishments -as much as one person could take ownership in a family business, anyways, with all the cousins and aunts and uncles that needed to be appeased- of the family establishment, so everyone was surprised when he revealed he wanted nothing more than to travel, seeing the world for himself instead of simply hearing about it from tales and rumors and other sources. Aside from his parents, they also weren't the most supportive. This was not alleviated when Caminito further revealed he planned to become a performer/historian/adventurer and had dreams of being able to record firsthand accounts of being inside labyrinths and saving innocent people, then perform those accounts in song, TV, or poem form.

He also needed to be away from his family for awhile. There was a fine line between caring and overbearing and he felt like that line had been broken far too many times. The family didn't cooperate for a long time, but one day, some travelers came bringing victims of a mysterious condition that none of them could heal- they were unable to awaken from slumber, and their entire bodies appeared to slow down as if they were hibernating. Caminito recalled that there were legends of a being known as the Night Hag who locked her victims in nightmares from which they would never awaken but lived in a palace made of shadows that held the key to awakening the afflicted. The Shadow Palace sat on the back of a writing beast that moved every night but hid in the dream realm during the day, making near-impossible to track down. This description made it clear that whatever the Shadow Palace was, it was not a labyrinth. It could have been just a silly story, but one of the loved ones of a victim affirmed that his daughter described one such palace in her nightmares before she was doomed to slumber.

Naturally, Caminito's next course of action was to volunteer himself to go out and search for the Shadow Palace in order to heal the afflicted- it was the family's sworn honor to help all who truly needed their help, after all. Begrudgingly, the elders agreed and allowed Caminito to venture out into the world while sending nightingales to other relatives already living abroad to be on the lookout for any so-called "Shadow Palace". While intending to keep his promise to locate the Night Hag as his top priority, Caminito was also excited he was allowed to leave the world he had always known and have adventures of his own- not simply ones he was born into.

Notable Relations:

  • Clan Ambervale: A well-known family by those who frequent the Southern Cerezt Plains. While well-off, they don't have the money other prestigious families do, but because of their history as healers and loyal soldiers, many people owe them favors or hold them in high esteem. Currently, Caminito has a very good relationship with his family, although there is some tension since he refused to stay at the homestead and help run it. Most family members are gifted with healing ethos, though they are not limited to it, and as a result, the family as a whole has a wide variety of ethos in their arsenal, making them a force to be reckoned with and growing stronger with every wedding that occurs. Though they have access to the technology available to most people, because of their isolated location, they don't have a lot of reception, so they still employ the archaic practice of delivering letters and small packages via birds- in this case, nightingales.

Normal Appearance: Caminito has tanned skin with nearly a glazed complexion and striking amber eyes. He prefers ornate, loose clothing but is almost always seen with his brown leather boots. His milky white hair has the consistency of an alpaca's fleece, though longer and more free-flowing. He has the sort of toned build that is common in those that spend a lot of time hiking and foraging, though very little intentional physical training means he is not extremely muscled. He stands at an average height, but with straight posture that matches his pride. He is also particularly fond of his headpieces, both the horn-like growths that are aftereffects of his ethos and the golden wing-like clips on either side of his head. The undersides of his palms also pulse with a soft erethreal glow that is often hidden under a pair of gloves.
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 75 kg
