Progression here at SHINOBI ROAD TO DESTINY works a little different than you're used to. We don't have traditional log checking methods where you wait a rough, rather arbitrary amount of time for a perk, asking every few days so you can start asking for your next one. Players here at ROAD TO DESTINY will receive something called XP during their reward sessions. Reward sessions will occur roughly every three days. Players use this XP to progress their character. What exactly can you buy with XP?

PLAYERS MAY BUY
  • CORES
  • JUTSU
  • SUMMONS
  • SKILLCARDS
  • ELEMENTAL TRAINING LEVELS
  • PROFICIENCIES
  • FIGHTING STYLES

Each and every perk has or will have an assigned cost. This assigned cost varies with the tier of the perk, as well as by specialization. For more information on specializations and their variance, please check the Specialization Guide. Each and every jutsu or skillcard has an assigned experience cost related to the level that it is as well as the importance to your specialization. Elementalist shinobi will find themselves at a significant discount when purchasing elemental jutsu, and pure taijutsu specs will find themselves at a significant disadvantage. Additionally, some specializations will be locked out entirely of higher ranked jutsu.

How much does each thing cost for each specialization? You'll have to check the Specialization guide!

Your XP is used to acquire perks and skillcards. But your total experience, a value independent of the xp spent on acquiring perks and skill cards, decides your grade. This will hopefully help to define gaps between skillgrades and the expected differences in power one could encounter. The grades, and the total experience associated with each of them, are pictured below.

BUT HOW DO TEACHERS WORK?
Teachers have had their system completely overhauled from the last attempt. Teachers may provide up to 100 points a week to each person that they teach. A teacher may only ever provide half the cost of a technique to a person. This experience earned from teachers does not apply to the total experience gained by a person; in effect, it is ghost experience that will lower the cost to acquire a certain jutsu, technique, or style for a person but will not speed up their ability to increase in grade. This is the best solution in our opinion. While people with teachers may find it easier to access more advanced techniques earlier, they will not receive insurmountable experience benefits.

Let's say Jiraiya wants to teach Naruto Rasengan, his signature technique. It costs 1000 Experience points. Over the course of five weeks, Jiraiya can contribute 500 experience to the cost of Rasengan through intense, weekly training sessions with Naruto. Naruto will still have to contribute 500 of his own, earned experience in addition in order to pay the cost for the technique if he uses all five weeks available to him. Additionally, if Naruto had 1000 spent experience when he began training, received 500 towards the technique from Jiraiya, and earned 500 experience over the course of five weeks, his total experience, which decides his grade, would still only be 1500, during and after training.

In extremely rare and special scenarios, the administrative team may allow teacher-student duos to train at accelerated rates. Admin permission is required to teach B-ranks and above.

This should make growth both more dynamic and consistent. No more waiting around for three weeks for a perk that you should have had in one. Players are graded at least twice a week; those that show consistent activity and enrichment of the game will be able to see their efforts pay off! This more fluid method of growth should keep the game organic. Your overall total will also play a role in your timeskip, too. You'll never see something ridiculous, like a surfer coming out with far more than someone who has been consistently putting work in.

It may seem confusing, new, and different -- but we believe this is the best way to improve progression.
