The mentality to coup is similar to the mentality behind raiding. Both practices involve players who want to break the status quo and are not afraid to do so. While many people like to bash coups and raiding (especially when you're directly affected), both can have a positive impact that wakes up the region. In several coups, the coupers would say how people take the game too seriously (when there is a strong reaction against the coup). This is also similar to raiding as well. There are many complex reasons for coups to occur, but I think coupers should be commended regardless of your feelings about them or the coup itself. These players are willing to shake the game up even that may affect their status in the game. Especially nowadays, NS players seem afraid of change, but without players who are willing to take risks and try something new, NS would not be worth playing. What are your thoughts about coups? Takeaways from the coups you have witnessed or read about? |

I remember the days of regular GCR coups. Been around for a few Osiris coups, remember the Milograd coup, remember the TBH tag of TWP. Always interesting to watch, always an interesting time to be in as NS history is being made yet again. Especially if you are involved in any way, even if as a piler as I was in support of Cormac against Gatesville, or being there near the beginning of the first OFO. |
