it's a shitty title, I know. I can't figure out a better one. basically, I had this really wild idea while watching a classic movie. my HOPE is that by the end of the story, the reader realizes what movie and it has a good payoff. the only issue is that, in order to prolong that, I have to keep the language really vague in order to avoid giving it away too quickly. so basically, what I want to know is: do I make it too obvious? alternatively, is it not obvious enough? is the vague language too constricting, thus making the story suffer? is the idea intriguing or thought provoking? this is more of a little draft or fun exercise than a proper short story, by the way.
