Felt depressed so I wrote a poem. It's short. Enjoy ![]() Security Blanket Some days unease lathers my heart in a heavy frost. I’m left to hug my knees and shiver. Stuck in a blizzard of uncertainty, doubt, fear. I shake. Snow swallows the world. It buries me in ice. But your voice was a pot of boiling water. Just the steam was enough to melt the snow. As I slowly scooped handfuls of snow, Dropping it into the water, allowing it to melt away, I relaxed. Then I tipped the pot, allowing the contents to spill out. Instead of water, a downy blue blanket appeared. I wrapped it around me. A soft smile gracing my face. You were there, protecting me from the snowfall. Safe, sound, soothed, my security blanket, You melted my worries by lending your comforting ear. But as all blankets do, your colors began to fade. Stained by the cold snow, ragged from overuse, You fell apart. You left me. Now, I’m alone, Blanketed only by snow. |
