Unregistered	Oddly enough, I'm at odds with the right as often as I am with the left. Socially, I'm all for liberalism--I think people should be allowed to choose how to live their own lives, what to listen to, what to watch, what to believe, etc. without the government stepping in. However, I think with that freedom should come a lot of responsibility. Currently the left wants the freedoms I want but seem to have this notion that things are going to work out fairly for all in the end. Some guy screws up his life and winds up a poor bastard homeless prick and they're fighting to ensure he gets more than he deserves. Bullshit! Let him suffer the consequences of the freedoms you wanted him to have. They want to spend all kinds of OUR money to fix problems that were created by the people who couldn't handle the freedom they were given. Spending money on social programs is something I HATE!!! Typically, the poor are poor for a reason. Don't spend my tax dollars that I could have spent on myself to help them out. Then you have the right. They tend to like the idea of personal responsibility more than the left--letting people screw themselves--but then they want to curtail the freedoms the left wants us to have, usually due to trying to impose their misguided religious principles/beliefs on society as a whole. I've noticed that the most preachy ones tend to be the most corrupt--look at DeLay. Go with one party across the board, and you lose. Period. I fall squarely into the Libertarian realm.

We need govts to protect people from themselves, but of late they are nothing more than shills for big industry. The single thing that would reform governments and put an end to the vast majority of corruption would be to simply to ban all industry and corporate donations big or small. Can you imagine Bush being elected without the help from the Oil and Defence industries? Get rid of those millions and millions worth of thinly veiled bribes and the system starts to become independant again (as it should have always been). Other stuff like the total disclosure of all financial info for anyone that gets elected to a public position would also be a great asset too. Remove the money from politics I guess is what I'm saying. And eliminate lobby groups, or at least limit the money they are alowed to splash around.

Any lefty is going to come in there ane LEFT up the place, overcompensating for the right lean of the last official. Hopefully, a new generation of politicians (like Obama and handful of others) will come into power in the next 20 years and even the field a bit. I guess that's my dreamer liberal coming out.
