You make it sound like Vietnam. The military is supposed to kill people! That's what the tamks, AK-47's, and grenade launchers are for! I personally would love not to have guns or weapons of any kind, but if someone threatens you, then you will fight back. Think what you want about 9-11, but the two airlines that crashed into the towers and the one that hit the pentagon were deliberate threats. They killed off the lives of parents, children, and left some children as orphans and scarred for life. So what are we going to do? We will beat the shit out of the country that did it. I don't agree with the way Bush has handled this situation, and has thrown way more money than he needed to. Now it's too late to turn back, and he knows it. Either we win, or we lose miserably, or run out of money. You live in Australia, what makes you think you have to worry about this situation. Not your fight. Not like we are going to take out Australia. |

I agree with some of what you said, but not all of it. And the main point of disagreement is that we still have a way to win that war. It's already lost. It was lost the first day we went into Iraq. |

I know, but we can keep telling ourselves that we are. Not because the most of us know think that we are winning, it's because we have no say anymore. I feel the one big glitch in todays government is how much the federal government can choose without our approval, and the fact that the military is controlled by the president. Back when MacArthur was fired, it was all good, but now, that is a whole different story. |

More marines died the first day on IwoJima. Than 4 yrs in Iraq. The men of that generation were fighting a war the whole country was behind. The nips were fanatical and the only way to beat them was by determination and firepower. Iraq was an avoidable war, Bush and co lied to get it started, then allowed neocon fuckwits to plan it and carry it out. You've got hundreds of generals who know how to do that, why didn't Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz listen to any of them. Why were none military given the job of running things. The occupation of Germany had been planned in detail, by 1943. Rumsfeld said there would only be 5000 troops left in Iraq, six months after the invasion. Thats why we didn't win, or they didn't want to win. I don't know which. |
