Witch of Memory
|
you; name; Call me Nami. Or Naminé. I actually have some weird nicknames. Manaminaminamine, Nami bo Bami, Spaghetti...the list goes on. contact information; My Skype name is "shattered.mirrors". You can probably have my Facebook if you ask, too. Just PM me. other characters; None...YET! Dun dun duuuuun! *shot* basics; name; Naminé age; She has been technically in existence for about two or three years, but as she is Kairi's Nobody she is about fifteen or sixteen. occupation; Memory witch. race; Nobody of a Princess of Heart. (That Princess of Heart bit is important because all Princesses of Heart have no darkness inside them. Because of this, for some random reason, this gives Naminé a much wider grasp of emotions than most Nobodies. Such as her laughing when Donald and Goofy joke about Sora being shy around girls, or when she cried when Sora was put to sleep. ...Yeah, I don't get it, either.) in depth; appearance; Naminé was "born" as the Nobody of Kairi. As such, she possesses many of Kairi's looks. She is a petite girl who is fairly short for her age, causing most of the people she meets to tower over her. She has bright blue eyes and light blonde hair that falls a little past her shoulders, hanging out of the way on the left side and brushed over her shoulder on the right. After being locked in Castle Oblivion for so long, she is uncommonly pale, almost to the point where one would think that she was sick. As for attire, she dons a completely white strapped dress with a square cut reaching about halfway down her thighs. It ends in a strip of plain white lace--a touch of beauty to an otherwise plain thing. Her outfit is finished off with a pair of pale blue (or white, if you're going by Chain of Memories art) sandals dotted with yellow/white flowers. If you want to be REALLY specific, there are three flowers on the bottom strap stretching across the strap that goes across the middle of her foot, and one on the strap across her ankle. picture; personality; Naminé's personality is hard to define for the sole reason that she goes through so many personality changes throughout the span of her existence. When she was first brought to Castle Oblivion, she was a scared, silent girl. She never spoke out of turn and always did as she was told. She never really knew she could. As time progressed and Sora came to Castle Oblivion, she began to see the consequences of always following the Organization. She started to question things and grow more defiant. Naminé adapted a sense of justice; what she was doing was wrong, and she was determined to fix it. Eventually she got the opportunity to, and so she finally became determined and defiant enough to go against Organization XIII's wishes to help Sora. Naminé by default is kind to everyone she meets, albeit a little shy. In fact, she should be so sickly sweet and innocent it should make you physically ill sometimes. Her fear of the Organization and her memories of her time there follow her still today. As such, she will still for the most part always do as she is told, unless there is a very good reason for her not to. A very good reason. Although she may be a little embarrassed to show it to you at first, she loves her drawings and is actually quite good at them. Deep down, she is very lonely. Become her friend and she will go above and beyond in her loyalty. history; He plunged the keyblade into his heart. That was the start of it all. Kairi was lying at his feet, motionless. Donald and Goofy let out a cry a little way's away; the only thing they really could do. But Sora wouldn't stop. If the only was to get Kairi back was unlocking his heart, that he was going to do it, despite the cost. The keyblade founds its place deep within his chest. Click. Everything plunged out of him. His light, his darkness, the thing that kept him who he was. And, most importantly, that little piece of Kairi's heart that had been a part of him for so long. It made its way to her, restoring her completely. Meanwhile, two little balls of light floated out and vanished from view. One of them was Naminé. Naminé was a Nobody, born from Kairi's heart when it was separated from her body. However, being the Nobody of a Princess of heart, she had some...abnormalities for her kind. For example, she actually had the ability to feel emotions. Or, at least, she had a much stronger grasp of them than other Nobodies did. As for her power...well, that came in later. She was found by Organization XIII, a group of Nobodies, not long after her creation. They gave her a name, a home, and a promise. As long as she always did exactly as she was told without question, they would give her a heart. She would truly, finally exist. And so she did. They placed her in a room and gave her three guards: Marluxia, Larxene, and Axel. They were supposed to be the ones in charge of her, particularily Marluxia. So her days in Castle Oblivion began. She never once stepped foot out of her pure white room. (They had told her specifically not to, so, of course, she listened.) She was watched over at all times, her guard alternating between the three mentioned previously. She liked Axel enough. He would listen to her, and was far more relaxed than her two other guards were. He would tell her stories of foreign lands and the other members of the Organization that she never got the chance to meet. He was her favorite. Then there was Larxene. She was cruel with a passion for little games that usually involved pain on Naminé's end. She didn't resist. She couldn't--not if she wanted her heart, at least. So she just took every insult and beating as it came to her, just waiting on that false future hope of a heart. Marluxia was good to her, for a while. He would listen as well, though it never seemed as if he truly cared about what she said. Everything he said seemed almost twisted and manipulative, though, like she was nothing more than a puppet to him. Which she was. One might be wondering at this point why Organization XIII bothered to take in a girl like Naminé, even if she was a Nobody. Rest assured that they had their motives. As it turns out, being connected to Sora, she had a very peculiar power. She had the ability to access the memories of those connected to him. She could alter them, "erase" them, even create new ones. "Erase" was put in quotation marks because they were never really gone. She just locked them away in the back of your head where they couldn't be found. Those memories were woven into a chain; she was just rearranging the links. When the Organization found this out, they planned to put her to good use. They gave her a sketchpad and art supplies, for as they found out, drawing was actually a way to channel her abilities and make it easier to perform. Like how one didn't need a staff to use magic, but it helped control it. She was told to draw the memories of a boy named Sora, far away--call him to the Castle, and then begin her work. And so she did. She always did as she was told. As time passed in Oblivion, things only got worse. Larxene became more cruel to her, if that was possible. Marluxia also became more and more impatient with her. More often than not she was threatened over the most miniscule things--messing something up in a drawing, daydreaming, saying idiotic things like how she was sure she felt something strange called loneliness. So she worked harder than ever. If she did well, she would get her heart; if not, she would be turned into a dusk. Every day new memories would be taken from him, slowly rewritten so that the girl with the smiling face and the red hair was taken out and replaced with herself. She made him believe bit by bit that she was his light. And it felt almost...good to be wanted. But she couldn't help questioning: wasn't this wrong? She didn't belong in his heart. He shouldn't even know that she existed. But...she was so lonely...and the consequences were too much to bear. So she kept hacking away at his memories, constantly motivated by her own fear. Around the same time, another member of the Organization named Vexen was working on a very interesting experiment. He had actually managed to clone the boy Sora's best friend, Riku. They brought the Replica up to her one day, demanding that they fill him with the same memories as Sora. Well, the same altered memories, that was. When he was brought to life, all the Replica knew was that he wanted to protect her at any cost. And that included protecting her from Sora. Meanwhile, Naminé's guilt grew and grew with every memory she replaced. She was ready to do anything, anything, to set it right. So when Axel gave her the opportunity to run away one day ("I don't see anyone here to stop you."), she took it without a second thought. She managed to finally make contact with him in the memory version of Destiny Islands. Admitting her sin was much harder than she had imagined. To see the confusion, the sadness, the pain on his face...She told him as much as she could. Or, at least, all that was important. That she had never been in his heart at all, and to look for the one who really was. Then...she vanished. They met again in the halls of the Castle not too long after. By that point, Sora had discovered that she really wasn't the person close to him after all. All of a sudden, Vexen's Replica came along, determined to protect her. He had ran into Sora some points before, but never did he look upon him with such...hatred. He was literally designed to protect her at all costs. Knowing that Sora, an outside danger, was there to "help her"...well, he wasn't happen. They quickly got into a fight, culminating in the Replica flooring Sora. Just as he raised his blade to deliver the killing blow, Naminé found her strength. "I said stop!!" In one quick blow, she completely shattered his memories. Every single one of them. He lay there on the floor, motionless--a poor little broken puppet in this giant stage of a castle. Staring into his eyes, seeing them so blank, Naminé felt a surge of guilt like she had never felt before. He was broken. He was a lifeless corpse, and it was all her fault. Larxene arrived then after having found her missing from her room. She taunted them for a little while. It was nothing out of the ordinary, but for some reason, Naminé felt angry about it. She deserved to be treated better, didn't she? Unfortunately, the conversation seemed to end the same way that so many others did: a smack to the face hard enough to send her tumbling across the room to where the Replica lay. And Sora, being the kind and loyal person he was, wasn't happy about it. A long fight ensued with eventually Sora coming out as the winner. Larxene faded away into nothingness. The Savage Nymph could no longer torment her as she had for so long. It was then that Sora and her really got to talk, without fear of interruption. She had only intended to say the necessary things, but...everything came out. Everything. How she was a witch, how she was never meant to exist, how she wasn't the person dear to him. No where close. She had twisted and wove his memories, binding him until he was no more than a marionette in her grip. She told him that, too. It hurt to do it, honestly. Although he was only her friend in those false memories, he was still the closest she ever had to a real friend. He would never forgive her. What she did was too horrible for words. No one would even want a heartless witch for a friend, anyway. No, not in a million lifetimes would he even speak to her after this incident. It was just too horrible. No, he would never, ever, ever... ...forgive her? She blinked. Sora had done just that. He had forgiven her. He admitted that he wasn't happy, but he forgave her. And never in her lifetime had there seemed a happier moment. But, well, there were other matters to attend to. As much as she would have liked to bask in the forgiveness and budding friendship, there were things that had to be done. Such as restoring the memories that she had taken from him. Naminé informed him that if he was able to get to the thirteenth floor and defeat Marluxia, she would finally be able to restore his memories. She hoped he could. But Marluxia was a powerful opponent...she knew better than to doubt Sora, but the odds still seemed against their favor in this situation. Very against their favor. After saying their farewells, Sora set off to the thirteenth floor, leaving her behind to care for the broken replica. At least, that was what they intended. It wasn't long before a certain pink-haired figure sauntered in and stole her away as if she were nothing more than a lost doll. They waited. Eventually, Axel came around, infuriated at Marluxia about him trying to take over the Organization. He threatens to kill him, to which Marluxia only responded to with a small smile. He then presented her in front of them, a hand on her head and the scythe by his side. If Axel wanted to get to Marluxia, he would have to go murder Naminé first. Naminé kept her eyes trained to the ground, though deep down she had at least a good feling about it. Axel was probably the person she liked most in the Castle. There was no way he would do anything like that. She would be safe...she had to be...right? Axel suddenly roared out his reply. He would be more than willing to go through her if that was what it took. She began to panic. Axel looked far too ready to follow through on that. Fortunately, Sora managed to pop in just in time to stop her from getting killed--but not in time to stop her from being dragged away to the next room by Marluxia. There they waited until Sora had defeated Axel, then barged into their room recklessly. All this time, Marluxia had that smirk on that he always wore before delivering her any sort of punishment. When Sora did enter, Marluxia gave out the immediate command to shatter his memories. Doing so would completely destroy his heart, effectively killing him. But remembering the kindness that he had show her, Naminé refused. Despite Marluxia's death threats and Sora's urging to do it so she could stay safe, she remained adamant. Just as it seemed like Marluxia was going to follow through on his threats, the Replica came in and managed to save her from Marluxia's wrath. Sora (joined by Donald and Goofy) initiated one final battle against Marluxia, utterly resulting in his erasure. When it was finally over, they just had one last topic to cover: the returning of Sora's memories. Memories were tricky, especially when one had tampered with them as much as she had. They were broken beyond possible repair. But thanks to her powers, she could at least do something. The effects of the Castle made it so that Sora's memories could never truly be kept. He either had to choose between keeping his memories of Castle Oblivion and accepting the loss of his previous ones, or having his old memories come back to him and completely forgetting about Castle Oblivion--and her. Naminé understood when he chose the latter, but that didn't mean it hurt any less. He was the only friend she had ever known after all. She led the trio of Sora, Donald and Goofy over to a room with several crystal pods, where they could sleep in peace while she reconstructed their memories. It would take a long time. But if that was what they wanted... Before departing, Jiminy made a note about her in his journal: Thank Naminé. That way, even if they didn't remember her, they would at least have that bit of information. She believed that she really had no reason to be thanked, having caused all of this in the first place, but she didn't protest. Just before going to sleep, Sora made a promise to her. He said that no matter what, he wouldn't ever really forget her for good, because they were friends now. He kept her in his heart, and some day they'd meet again and be real friends like they never really got the chance to. Friends. A tear rolled down her cheek, despite the smile that remained on her face. Enter DiZ, who she had fallen into communication with a little earlier in the castle. He introduced her to a boy named Riku who had fallen into the darkness. All he wanted was to bring his friend back--at whatever cost. At one point she offered to clear him of his memories as she had with Sora so that his darkness would go away. As tempting as an offer it was, he refused, stating that he would rather face his darkness alone. For the next year, she worked tirelessly with the two on restoring Sora's memories. It would have taken much less longer, were it not for the interference of two individuals: Roxas and Xion. Xion was a being created of Sora's lost memories from Xemnas' experiments. Her very existence denied Sora's awakening. Riku managed to defeat her one day, bringing her to the memory witch. There, they had a long talk, discussing the nature of her being a replica and ultimately ending with her resolve to give up and become a part of Sora again. The bigger problem was that of Roxas, the ex-member of Organization XIII. When Riku finally got a hold of him after he left the Organization, he quickly used his trump card and ultimately kicked the crap out of him. The three of them then placed him in a digital Twilight Town, allowing his final days to be ones of peace without any memory of him being a Nobody. But as time went on, Naminé developed a desire to see Roxas. His situation reminded her very much of her own during her Castle Oblivion days. Not to mention, he was really the only other Nobody she could think of like her. No memories of his past, and maybe even the tiniest capability of emotions. So she eventually programmed herself into the digital town. Despite Riku entering the program multiple times himself and attempting to stop her, Naminé eventually revealed exactly who Roxas was to him. Everything. Organization XIII, him being a Nobody, even how he and Axel were best friends. Roxas, however, didn't take these well. All she could do was apologize, and learn yet another lesson from her mistakes. "I'm sorry. Maybe some things really are...better left unsaid." On his very final day, Naminé made a promise to Roxas, just as Sora had to her. She informed him that becoming a part of Sora didn't mean that he would disappear. Instead, it would make him whole; the one thing all Nobodies wanted. She promised that one day, even though they may not recognize each other, they would meet again. And then they could be friends. Unbeknowst to her, even more treachery was going on behind the scenes. DiZ had always hated Nobodies, most likely stemming from his own fury at his past apprentices. One day he instructed Riku that as she was done repairing Sora's memories, Naminé was to be eliminated. She was of no more use to him. However, being sort of almost friends with her after all the time he had spent with her and already being angry at DiZ, Riku hid her in the care of She was okay with that; Axel had been her favorite guardian, and was still nice to her even now. She told him one day about how Nobodies could have people who were special to them, even without hearts. Like her and Sora. Or him and Roxas. At the climax of it all, things were just getting bad. Kairi was kidnapped, Sora was overwhelmed with heartless, and Riku was nowhere to be found. This was where she could finally redeem herself. Naminé managed to use a dark corridor to break into Kairi's cell in The World That Never Was, freeing her (and Pluto, too!). She then led her to find Sora, even though she gradually began flickering in and out of existence due to her being so close to her Somebody. Before they could reach him, though, Saix appeared. Just as a battle was about the engage, Riku jumped in and saved them. She took that as her cue to leave, smiling and telling Riku that he could take over from there. Naminé appeared one very last time to them at the end of their journey, almost transparent. She was slowly fading away into Kairi. But really, being whole...that was what all Nobodies wanted, right? She opened a dark corridor leading directly to Destiny Islands, finally allowing the trio to go home. Before departing, she smiled at Sora and said that they really did meet again. Although Sora didn't remember his promise anymore, it still managed to resonate within him--and another part of him. Roxas then stepped forward from Sora, agreeing that her promise came true after all. They realized that they weren't really fading away; they were becoming whole. Heading for a better life. And as long as Sora and Kairi were together, they would be, too. They were a part of them, after all. And that was all they ever would be. With a smile on her face, Naminé's journey ended, and she became a part of Kairi again once more. -- But it didn't end there. Not really. After all of that, being whole wasn't exactly the most wonderful thing in the world. She had the ability to see and feel, but it still felt a little bit like she was trapped in Kairi's body. Watching the world go by without being able to do a single thing. So one day, Naminé just...left. She willed herself to divide from Kairi, just as she had when she joined with her. And it worked. She began staying on Destiny Islands, separating her from Kairi while she was sleeping and walking the moonlit shore. She was always back by morning, though, lest she be gone too long. But she just kept separating herself for longer and longer periods of time with no one really noticing her absence. Why would they? It was Kairi they wanted, after all. No one thought to look for her after all that. So eventually she just left for what seemed like ever. She planned on going back, of course. Just...some time off for once. She headed back to the abandoned mansion in Twilight Town where she had stayed while working on Sora's memories. It was in pretty bad condition, what with the entire place close to caving in on itself and everything, but she made do. It was...peaceful there. A place where she could just sit, draw, and watch the days go by. She sometimes wondered about the people she once knew, back before their journey had ended. Sora, Riku, Kairi...she secretly wondered if they even remembered her anymore. But they were connected; even if she wasn't really in their memories much, she was still in their hearts. She would never really be gone for good. Right? finishing up; roleplay sample; "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" This was just one of the many oddities that framed Namine's day, just another riddle amongst thousands that had been given to her within the past few hours. At the time she had responded by saying that there were absolutely no similarities between a bird and a desk, but the purveyer of said question (some stark raving lunatic in a large tophat) had insisted that it wasn't the correct answer and that she simply had no imagination. He then refused to speak to her, and instead began throwing teacups at her head with his two companions. And that was only the start. Another obscurity she had run into was the fact that everyone she met had called her by the name of Alice. No matter how many times she insisted her name was Namine, it never fazed them. Quite the opposite, actually; many of them began to rant on about how it was impolite to say you are one thing and then say you are another, which still made no sense to the Nobody. She vaguely wondered if this was some bizarre and unwanted dream of hers, or if the moogles had been right in telling her that this world was known as Wonderland. It certainly didn't seem too wonderful. The first mistake she made today, she decided, was when she took a drink of that potion left out on the table along with the small sign proclaiming, "Drink me". Maybe that was what caused this world, some sort of drug or alcoholic content in it. She doubted that was the case. Anyhow, Namine very quickly shrunk in size, leaving her the size of a quite dazed ant. How she was ever going to return to normal size was beyond her altogether. The second mistake was going through that door. Actually, it probably wasn't that much of a mistake, or else she would have spent all her time wandering around that small square room with no purpose whatsoever. When she had managed to persuade the snoring doorhandle to let her inside (she still didn't know how she managed to accomplish that), she was thrown into what must have been chaos incarnated. Now, although Namine may occasionally have complained about the monotony of life, that certainly didn't mean she didn't like it. After all, having to deal with the same boring stuff was a lot easier than...well, things like this. At first she thought it might be interesting, being thrown into this brightly colored world that was pretty much just one big giant playground. But eventually, all the riddles and talking animals were giving her a headache, and even though the singing of the flowers really was pretty she was just looking for some silence. And if one more person called her Alice, they had better be expecting a fireball to the head. "Ah, lost? You know, Alice, I wouldn't worry too much. Being lost just means that you'll be found again soon enough." Hold it in, Namine...don't hurt the cat... "I'm sorry, but I told you before, my name is Namine," She informed the vibrantly pink cat hovering above her in a polite tone. Before he could interject again telling her about lying, she added, "I have never in my entire life been an Alice. I haven't ever met someone named Alice, either. But...I am lost. Would you mind showing me which way to go?" At some point in her attempt to find the synthesis outlit here (which was where she was planning on being teleported home), she had somehow wound up in an elaborate hedge maze with so many twists and turns she could only be certain that the pathways were changing. "Hm. Well, that depends," The cat mused, rolling its body completely around while its head stayed right where it was. "Some people go This Way, others go That Way, and still others yet go the Completely Different Way. I, however, prefer to go the Right Way." "Please, could you tell me which way is the Right Way to go? I really need to be getting back home, and I--" "Now, now. If I showed you how to go the Right Way, then it wouldn't be the Right Way anymore, now would it? It would simply be The Way That Alice Decided To Go." "I--I suppose that makes sense, b-but--" "Whatever Way you decided to go, I would suggest making your decision quickly. Shadows roam here, and not all of them are cloaked in white as you are." His grin grew even wider at that, if it was even possible. "Please, I need to get out of here. Can't you just point me in the direction of the synthesis shop?" She begged, but to no avail. Instead, the striped pink cat was slowly vanishing, just as he had when he appeared. "Beware the cloaks! Beware the shadows! Beware that to which you are akin!" He said, leaving only his pearly smile behind before vanishing altogether and leaving Namine amongst the hedges. She sighed, shaking her head. He was the same as every other denizen of this town; giving her plenty of questions to which she had to answer, but responding with no answer of their own. Thus, Namine trudged forward, forcing herself to make yet another decision at her four-way intersect, this time choosing to take a right. If she didn't find a way out of here soon, she didn't know what she would do. Stupid masochistic cat. member title; Memory Witch Extraordinaire anything else; Sorry about the length of this application.
