Name: Lexaeus Age: Unknown; assumed to be in his mid-thirties Image: Stock artwork is for losers! …Oh, fine. Hometown: The World that Never Was Current Location: Twilight Town Fandom: Kingdom Hearts Additional Information: -- Though Lexaeus is capable of wielding any heavy sword-based weapon (such as the Colossus, the Octirion, and the 1,001 Nights) he is closest to the axe-sword Skysplitter. -- Crack bait: Lexaeus likes strawberry yogurt. Why are they here?: Darkness is a very fickle substance. All users of darkness appear to have their own specific ‘type’ of darkness which derives itself from everything about them, not unlike DNA. And even so, since a dark-tainted body produces more ‘unique’ darkness than it can handle, sometimes their darkness can actually stick to another person through an attack, physical contact, or just being close to one another. This darkness can then hitch on to the victim of the attack until it happens to fall off, and returns to its original owner. Now recall, if you will, exactly what happened near the end of Chain of Memories. Riku battles Lexaeus, Riku defeats Lexaeus. The Silent Hero has understood by now that there’s no saving him now, and so he gathers every scrap of darkness in his body into a final attack upon Riku. Hilariously, it fails. Due to the fact that there is nowhere near enough Light in Lexaeus’ body to keep it running, the empty body is sucked up into the darkness… …the very same darkness that just went directly into Riku. In addition to being one half of the two major elements, Darkness also works as a Hammerspace dimension of sorts, capable of holding objects placed inside it until it is accumulated enough to release the object inside. Little wisps of Lexaeus’ darkness invisibly floated away from Riku (told to move by the same power of will that saved Lexaeus from becoming a Heartless in the first place) and steadily collected in one area – the world that tap-dances between the Realms of Light and Darkness, good old Twilight Town. Since Lexaeus’ body is considerably larger than most members of the Organization, he admittedly arrived a little late compared to the others. But after a lengthy period of time, during which an unsettling (but unapproachable) purple smoke-cloud began accumulating in the Twilight Tunnels, Lexaeus has returned from the darkest pits of his own world, with everything completely intact. Other Characters: Ienzo, Squall, Mr. Hanekoma, Riku. History: Somewhere in the lovely world referred to mostly as the Radiant Garden, there lived a generally optimistic old scientist and mayor figure named Ansem and his group of apprentices. While some of them were very clearly devoted to the art of studying as he was, and some appeared to be not much more than brawny people guarding things, they were all quite intelligent and had a hand in the many experiments Ansem liked to run. Among the latter category mentioned before was a man named Aeleus, a guard who wielded a rather oversized tomahawk. For a good few years Aeleus – along with Dilan and occasionally Braig – kept the peace inside the castle so Ansem and the others could focus on keeping the peace outside of the castle. Around this time, a papa-wolf complex was developed between he and the youngest member of the group (only around nine) that would go on to define quite a lot of the important things that happened to him in future, but as for right now, everyone was content and completely whole (well, except for Braig, but nobody liked to talk about that). And then, and then, a very peculiar man named Xehanort came to the House of Ansem, spouting some nonsense about the study of darkness in the heart… Cut to around seven, maybe eight years in the future. Ansem had been, er, dealt with, and that funny amnesiac had basically lead all five of the other apprentices to their dooms. But instead of turning into good little Heartless like they were supposed to, the six of them all had a strong enough power of will that they were able to retain their human bodies and minds in the horrific process of heart implosion. With that idea down the john, Xehanort gathered all the Nobodies (then without a species name, of course) around, and decided that they would all rename themselves, wear sexy black cloaks, and continue their, er, research on hearts – specifically how to get them back – completely unrestricted by anyone (except Xehanort himself, of course, but he wasn’t going to point that out any time soon). The other five agreed, and the seeds of what would soon become Organization XIII were planted. As mentioned earlier, everyone got a new name, basically an extremely witty anagram of their own name with an X included in it for reasons none of them were ever really told. Braig to Xigbar, Dilan to Xaldin, Aeleus to Lexaeus, Even to Vexen, Ienzo to Zexion. Xehanort received a suggestion from Xigbar: since he was basically their new Ansem, and he had already taken his name anyhow, why not take the anagram of Ansem instead of Xehanort? (Besides, as he correctly pointed out, ‘Xehanort’ already had an X in it, and that would just look silly.) Xehanort did just that, completely unaware of the behind-the-back jokes everyone would be making at his expense for years to come. Eventually, the group rounded up still more Nobodies who were corrupted in some way or another, and the ranks swelled to thirteen – hence the name of the group, which stayed that way even when the fourteenth, Xion, entered… but she is a tale for another time. For now, let’s concentrate on the parts that Lexaeus was actually alive for. Organization XIII marched on, with Xemnas slowly growing into an even bigger jerk than before and promising them all the return of their hearts as long as they all followed him blindly and asked no questions. Unbelievably, most of them actually did do this, because clearly a man who had stolen his master’s name to write scientific reports and mutated them all into dark, soulless shells could be completely trusted. Eventually the group got a hold on a castle in between the Realms of Light and Darkness, proclaimed to be called Castle Oblivion, and shipped some members off there to mess with Sora’s head. Lexaeus was one of these members. Over the course of his time in Castle Oblivion, he became one third of the group referred to by some of the more uncouth members as the Basement Club, meaning that they sat around in the basement and reflected on things for most of the time. Eventually, when Marluxia (another member sent to Castle Oblivion) got a little too far with his progress on messing with Sora’s head (they were all supposed to mess with his head equally, you see), the Basement Club agreed to make their own attempts on his friend Riku instead. After all, he was so littered with darkness and still so trusted by Sora, anything could be done, right? The Riku Replica was born then, but hilariously, Vexen was killed before anything could truly be done with it. The Riku Replica ran off to become an independent person, searching for a meaning. When that happened, Lexaeus took matters into his own hands, confronting the true Riku right before he was going to meet Sora at the top of Castle Oblivion. After verbal attempts to get him to give up proved futile (and really, Lexaeus was a man of action anyway), the two fought, which ended in a supposed suicide mission on the Silent Hero’s part. Riku proclaimed him dead and walked broodily off to continue his expedition to the top. Quite a few things occurred concerning the Organization after that, but Lexaeus was dead for nearly all of them. The funny thing about it is, though, that after all that ended, a minor Xanatos Gambit came to light which involved quite a bit of waiting around for time to pass and dark to amass. Right Now: Right now, Lexaeus wanders in the general outskirts of various worlds, but every so often he seems to gravitate towards Agrabah and the Cave of Wonders. He is currently staying in Twilight Town. Edited by Ienzo, April 6, 2011, 11:49 am.
