Age: 35

Hometown: Gaia. Specifically: Born in Banora, moved to Midgar.

Current Location: Radiant Garden

Fandom: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Additional Information: Angeal is the original owner of Cloud’s Buster Sword and a former friend of Sephiroth’s. He is also Zack’s former mentor from SOLDIER.

Other Characters: Nepeta, The Condesce, the Signless

History: After everything he had been through- SOLDIER, Degradation, Death- Angeal thought that he had finally earned his peace. The Lifestream was a nice enough place. But then things had to go wrong. The Lifestream was intelligent. When the Darkness came, it had tried to have as many heroes as it could fight it. Including Angeal.

Being spit out by the Lifestream wasn’t nearly as traumatic as it should have been, and all of a sudden Angeal found himself back in his own body, looking as it had before the Degradation set in. However, it was too late to help, and Angeal didn’t even have a decent weapon, having given away his Buster Sword to Zack at the time of his death.

It was sheer chance that Angeal had found himself in Traverse Town and had managed to get his hands on a gummi ship. A few times he had seen some familiar faces- during a visit to the Coliseum, he had spotted Sephiroth fighting a brown-haired boy. Angeal had stayed in the stands and watched the fight, secretly impressed by the displayed fighting ability. He knew through experience that it took a lot of talent- and guts- to face Sephiroth. Another time, during a quick stop back in Traverse Town, Angeal had spotted a familiar head of spiky blond hair. It had taken Angeal a moment to place it, but eventually he realized that it must have been Zack’s favorite cadet.

Well, it seemed that the boy could hardly be called a cadet now. Especially with Mako eyes.

Seeing Zack's student had caused Angeal to drift into a lull in his travels for a year, thinking back on his old life. It seemed impossible that he and Genesis had not realized that they were experiments until they were faced with degradation. Everything had gone down hill after Genesis defected and Angeal and Zack were sent to track down the missing Commander. They had abandoned Sephiroth, he now realized. How would his other friend have fared when he discovered Jenova if Angeal and Genesis had been there to support him? Angeal had abandoned his dreams and honor by leaving SOLDIER, believing himself to be a monster.

But his worst mistake, even more horrible than his betrayal of Sephiroth, was what he had made Zack do.

No matter what he thought of himself, Angeal should never had made Zack kill him. How had he lost sight of his honor like that? At the time, it had seemed to be the honorable thing to do. To force his student to fight and kill him, thus ridding the world of a monster, had been the most honorable thing to him. But now Angeal knew he was wrong, and the lack of his Buster Sword seemed a fitting punishment. Angeal didn't know if he would ever see his student, let alone the Buster Sword, ever again, but if he did, Angeal resolved to do what he should have done upon helping Zack into the Lifestream: Apologize. Get down on his hands and knees and beg for forgiveness that he didn't deserve.

After dwelling on his past, Angeal began helping in the fight against the Heartless. Every now and then he would see a battle where that one brown-haired boy showed more honor and faith in his dreams than Angeal felt he would ever regain. At those times, Angeal took it upon himself to keep as many Heartless as he could from intruding on the battle. It was the least he could do. His dreams had returned to him- now he would regain his pride and honor.

After all, Angeal still felt he was a SOLDIER at heart.

Somewhere along the line Angeal had acquired a broadsword that could withstand SOLDIER strength. His previous method of pummeling Heartless to the ground with his fists and said SOLDIER strength was surprisingly effective, but the sword got the job done faster. Angeal had also learned the basic magic spells, but he hardly ever used them, despite the convenience of not needing to switch around Materia.

Magic had always been as much Genesis’s strength as swordsmanship was Sephiroth’s and brute strength was Angeal’s. Using magic too often when he wasn’t even very good with it seemed like it would just dishonor his best friends memory.

Still, even after a few years of traveling from world to world, somehow Angeal had managed to avoid having a conversation with anyone from his own world.

Right Now: Angeal has finally gotten around to visiting the Radiant Garden, not realizing how many people from his own world reside there. He intends to obtain a better sword and take a break from traveling.
