It has come to our attention that a number of player accounts have been compromised due to malicious programs derived from some popular community sites. Investigation and recovery of several accounts are currently underway.
*Characters who have had their accounts compromised can apply for account recovery by contacting the PlayOnline Information Center.
*It may not be possible to recover lost items during account recovery procedures. We apologize for the inconvenience.
-As a reminder to players, we suggest taking the following measures to protect your PC from malicious programs: Never give out your PlayOnline ID and/or password. A Square-Enix employee will never ask for this information. Do not run third-party programs as these programs may compomise account information. Ensure your password contains both numbers and letters. Ensure your web browser is updated to the most current version. Download and install virus protection software, and ensure it is updated to the most current version. Download and install anti-spyware software, and ensure it is updated to the latest version.
