Basically, some of you know and some of you don't that while helping someone out on my old character, I managed to get a drop worth a decent amount of gil. Now, I don't NEED that much gil right now. But I'm not silly, I'm not giving it away either, so I thought about ways I could put it towards the growth of the LS. One idea, the one I like the most of the ones I came up with, is an LS Prize ...awarded say once a month (and funded by me) to the member with the most nominations from other members. It would work like this - say person A needs some help with a mission, and person B has some free time, and lends a hand. Person A would then think 'That was pretty nice of them' and make a mental note. But what id Person A were to think ' I wish I could reward them in some way'. Well, with this idea you can. Now, I'm only offering a small prize for this - after all, we all need gil and its never gonna last forever, but I was thinking a 5K a time prize, once a month on a set date. You can PM your nominations to me, and I will post the name of the user with the most nominations on the closeing date each month, as well as sending them the gil. This has many benefits - Linkshell members who already help others out a lot , gain recognition. Linkshell members who don't help out much, are encouraged to do so. And of course, more people use the forum. Do you, or do you not, like the idea. Be aware it will be funded by me, and although the prize is small, will probably grow as my char grows. |

Although I do like the idea of members being recognized for their hardwork towards helping the shell, I think that positive reinforcement can sometimes have an adverse effect on one's intentions. Helping for the sake of helping is a completely grand idea... but if say the reward did become bigger, and people started fighting to win favor in the shell, as well as feeling a bit cheated when they failed to recieve shell-mate of the month, such a system could easily turn ugly. I don't wanna put down the idea, I just feel that sometimes a system of rewards can sully the people's intentions. |

I agree, I wouldn't feel right accepting any type of award or anything for helping an LS mate. Heck, I wouldn't even accept it from a random person. Something else to consider would be to possibly help fund one or more people to increase some crafts to levels that would provide a longer term benefit to the rest of the LS. |

I would suggest that you keep the money to start a LS fund. Something that can be used if there is a LS event where certain items are needed. |

I did that on an old char, had a muloe set aside specifically for buying and providing meds and food for garrison - the only thing is, that something like that needs a regular income top up, and would be once a week, and cost a fair bit (at least to a lower player) That would be a good idea though, ita just would need to find a way for the funding ton continue... in the olden days, it would have worked by letting the owner of the mule have a free lot on a low priced garrison drop - but now EVERYTHING is low priced .>< |

I think its a good idea and definetly worth a try.. even if a reward is not included I also like the other idea of leveling up crafts for the benefit of everyone in the shell.. If anyones thinking of leveling a craft and hasnt done so yet, if you dont know which one to choose then consider one that another ls member hasnt already taken up.. unless you insist on a specific craft.. for example Ive taken cooking to level 32 so far, and I know Cavellia has woodworking up there somewhere high 30's did you say? all good ideas

I think it's a great idea. I used to do that a couple of years ago when I had my anime website. It does generate alot of Forum use. and unlike my old forum this forum has alot of useful content so I know people would keep using it after the fact. 5000gil is a good amount of gil espically for a lower level character which we have alot of. Could buy you some decent amor a ring or give you enough money for that new katana your looking for. I would like to add something to the idea. Cavellia you do alot for the LS and I don't think its fair that you try to take everything on yourself. I think top Members with charcters 50+ lvl should donate into the fund. I say about 1000gil a month wouldn't kill any of us with high level jobs espically since can farm it in about 5 minutes by killing a Ram or a Elemental. Not only would that ease the finincial burden on you but i'm sure since we have more than 5 members with higher than lvl 50 jobs we could gather more than 5k making the reward greater or maybe offering multiple awards. Or we could use it for LS missions, quest,BCMN,garrison ETC items that we may need. Those are just my thoughts though. |
![]() Gather all your strength when you follow the unpaved road because to reach the ends all your means have no value when the only resource you have is yourself - Vix | |

How about we give it a try for a couple of months, and see how it goes . I'm rethinking only allowing members to vote on the forum though, would make it unfair to PS2 users and Xbox users. Perhaps have members /tell their vote on the day before that haven't voted on the forum. Whilst I agree with people who have said that it could be open to abuse and used for the wrong reasons, I think thats only if we have those kind of members who would do that in the linkshell. Lets give it a try, with a few basic rules : You can't nominate anyone without giving a valid reason. For example, I can't say just ' I nominate XXX person' I'd have to say, I nominate XXX person because (insert reason here) I will be keenly alert for people who constantly nominate the same person each time. How about we try it, with results posted the 1st of each month - both on the forums and in LS message. I also like the idea of an LS fund, although think that would be more useful once we get into regular events such as promies, garrison , etc, where items like potions and yag drinks would be useful. I have one more idea - not relating to my own funds. I'm sure many people here, get low level armour drops from mobs that they just end up dicthing, or items for missions, such as fetisch quadav stuff. What does someone think of me setting up a mule that would store unwanted low level armour drops, and then distribute them to low level new players joining the linkshell ? I'm not sure how well in practice. Yup, I do a lot for the linkshell, but only because I feel so at home here. On my old character, I really struggled finding an LS that felt like 'friends' , and thats how I ended up setting up my own shell on old char. When I came back to game, I actually thought about setting up my own LS again this time, knowing that I could make it into a home, but I don't need to. You guys have been great to me, and I hope i've helped by bringing in members and sorting out a forum for us all to keep in touch ^ ^ |
