Welcome to the information & template over applying for restricted races and classes. Included is a list of all races and classes that are free, that are revokable, that are restricted, restricted and require progression and those that are forbidden from being played.

The Point of Applications

 • The point of the application system is to ensure that these varying races and classes are not grossly misused. Whilst you can't go wrong with the normal races and classes, there is potential for slip-ups when we move into classes such as the Assassin or Commando. There are also much higher tier classes than the generic ones provided at the beginning, and these classes become very powerful. In an effort to control power, we ask for strengths and weaknesses to make you aware of how important fallibility is, and to be responsible with your power. These require 'progression', and the applications will prove how your character has developed since they started being played.
 • Progression is a perception of the community as to how much your character has developed from day one. The more you spend time on that character and the more that you are in character with them and roleplaying, the more prevalence they have in Resurgence: the more 'stage presence' they have. That stage presence is not fully reflective of what your character is capable of, but the mere fact that your character has been around for a long time opens up the opportunity for you to spread your wings and expand on what your character can and can't do.
 • The last thing that is important to cover is that the application you submit is reflective of your understanding as if you were going to play the character straight after posting. If there are errors and flaws, they will be pointed out. Source material needs to be read and understand - you cannot be given the answers since that defeats the purpose. Ergo, we are not going to be able to give you many chances to adjust or correct your application. Things like 'consider adding more weaknesses' or 'flesh out this little bit of history' are corrections we allow, but fully changing the history based on critical misunderstandings will not be allowed. You are approved based on your understanding and responsible roleplaying with other people, not your ability to take criticism.

The Application Process

 • The application system that Resurgence uses has 5 categories of races or classes. These five ways are the following: Free; Revokable; Restricted; Restricted (Progression); and Forbidden.
 • You shouldn't be choosing more than 2 classes when multi classing, otherwise you become a jack of trades rather than a strong and powerful individual and are slower at both learning and progressing.
 • The Free class does not require you to venture any further into the application system. Just see if the race or class you want to play is on the list at the bottom and you are free to make them and start roleplaying immediately. The base races and classes are Free. In these cases it's hard for you to mess up as you have very limited morals to abide by. Warriors, Hunters and Marksmen are all very physical classes. There may be the occasion that we are forced to intervene in your roleplay, but that should be a rarity
 • Revokable races and classes are similar, as in you can pick them up immediately, but we also listen out for complaints regarding your character. If we hear things that sound illogical for that class or race, then we will investigate by inquiring with you and checking up on other people who are involved in roleplay with you. If we find that these complaints are true, we will consider revoking you. In most cases we will give a stern warning and one more chance. When you are revoked, you may not play as a similar race or class for up to a month. During that time we hope you brush up on your understanding of that race or class
 • Restricted races and classes have complexity to them that means we need to ensure you know they work. Due to the varying complexity of some of these classes, one might be more scrutinised than another. Classes have very little or no means to progress into because if they are here, they are commonly a base class. Therefore we don't expect progression with your application. You may use some background and character development in the history in order to push from a complete basis up to a competitive skill level compared with the rest of the server. To play as one of these, you need to go through the application process and be approved. Once approved, you may go out and roleplay as your applied race/class. However, these restricted races and classes can still be revoked or retconned, using the same warning system as the revokable races and classes.
 • Those that are restricted and require progression are mostly classes. These classes require you to demonstrate that you have progressed in your history. We cannot accept an application based on progressing into them - it must be done prior and you must achieve a certain level of mastery. Classes in this category succeed another class in terms of ability. An example is that a Warrior may develop into a Commando, which may develop into a Gunmen. The Commando is a progression requiring class and requires you to spend work on your character, bettering them in their personal battlefield prowess. After we feel that your character has sufficient presence on the server will we consider these applications.
 • Restricted races and classes, both progression required and non-progression required, require one staff member to approve of it. For each staff member that disapproves, another staff member needs to approve (so each staff vote has a value of 1, and it can be positive or negative. You need to get 1). The applications that have a star (*) next to them are much more powerful, consider accordingly.
 • The final category is a list of forbidden races and classes. It is obvious we do not want people playing as a Forerunner, or a Forerunner Monitor, or an Precursor or an Gravemind, or even a Prophet. Spartan-II's fall under this category as well. Needless to say, these are increasingly integral parts to the storyline and few in number. If you're considering playing a Forerunner, then you really need to think about what makes a good character. If you ever see a character on the Forbidden list, their appearance will be part of an event as an NPC and not a Player Character.
 • We ask that you withhold new applications for 2 full weeks (14 days) if it is approved, and 1 full week (7 days) if it is denied.
 • Also note that if you are inactive for longer than three months any character that required an application will no longer be valid and you will have to reapply. If your character is dead, then as long as you are active on other characters you will not have to reapply for your restricted race or class before the resurrection.
 • If you are looking to upgrade your characters aristocracy rank, promotion applications go here rather than use this application format.

A summary of what is listed above: If your class or race is on the free or revokable list, go ahead and play them now rather than read the rest. Those who choose revokable races or classes need to ensure they play them properly: You are given one warning before you are revoked. Restricted races and classes need an application (below) to prove you know how to play them, and those that require progression have a category of their own. If you are wanting to play a forbidden race or class, please reconsider.

Application Template
Code: Template

Before you start filling in this application, please ensure you have read the entirety of the Character Application Format Template thread again to ensure you're not missing out on any crucial changes to the system. If applying for progression restricted classes, make sure your character has some history established on this server. Finally, make sure that people have a gist of what your roleplaying is like. We tend to use this to decide whether or not you can cope with one of the restricted races or classes.

What is the name of your character?: Title, name, surname, anything you want to involve in his official place in the world being attributed to a name!

What is your characters age?: Try to research just to ensure your age is realistic. You don't have to be specific, feel free to round it to the nearest relevant number.

Which race is your character?: If you're applying for a restricted race, make sure this is it. Otherwise, leave it your normal race

What is your character's class?: If you're applying for a restricted role, make sure these are it. Otherwise, you may put in a free/revokable class, rank or title.
What is your character's rank?: Only if applicable. This tends to be filled in for authoritative ranks.
What is your character's title?: Only if applicable. This tends to revolve around prestigious titles.

What is your character’s description?: Provide us with a short description of your character’s physical appearance with the points provided.

Build (Height, Weight, Physique, etc.):
Body Color:
Eye Color:
Hair Color:
Gender:
Any Uncommon or Specific Features?:

What is your character’s personality?: Describe to us, in 2-3 paragraphs (4-5 sentences per) or less, what your character’s demeanor and personality is like. This is to ensure that it matches in with what your applied race/class is, and therefore is appropriate.

What is your character's history?: Try and avoid cliché things like orphan, or a sole survivor. If you're a normal folk you can connect much better to him and make everything more fun. Please provide your character’s history in a series of bullet points marking the most significant points in your character’s life that leads up to where they are now. Any other information between the important points must be put into spoiler, and is regarded as optional lore upon your character.

What is your character's affiliation?: This is to determine whether or not your affiliation is appropriate for your race/class. If their affiliation is different from what would be expected, please provide a short reasoning as to why they are affiliated to who or what they are.

What do you see as your character's future?: If you're applying here with no progression because you're going to be trained, then here's your area to discuss your future. It's nice to be insightful, but you can also be adaptive and not have anything set in stone if that's your style

Explain the background and role of your applied race/class?: The reason for the restricted requirement on your potential race/class is because of potential misuse. If you know what you're doing, you will score well here and succeed

What would you consider to be your character’s shortcomings?: This can be anything from your character’s weakness to something they’re not very good at. Being bad at social interaction, having a stark phobia of spiders, and suffering from PTSD are all valid examples, though you are encouraged to think of others. Attempt to avoid anything cliché, however.

What would you consider to be your character’s strengths?: These are things your character was made to do, or is just plain good at. They could be exceptionally good at fighting, or are good with math. Perhaps there’s something else your character can do that is hallmark for them?

How many "NPCs" would your character lead and how?: This question is not relevant to most classes or races, in which you can put a zero and move on. However, military ranks, nobility or certain race classifications may end up being the leader of a selection of non player characters. Staff do not need any justification for less than five, but beyond that you need to justify how you would have access to an "army" of such a size. How your character calls upon them and maintains their needs are both important questions you should consider answering here.

What sources have you used for your application?: This is to both help staff evaluate your character and to show that you have done your research on the race/class that you’re applying for with information you have used that comes from a viable source. If the information you used to apply for this character comes from another person, please ask them to provide sources to you for where they themselves gain their information.

Do you agree to follow Resurgence's rules when playing your character?: A formality. This means playing your character appropriately and responsibly, and not godmodding, metagaming, or powergaming.

Your application is in public for at least of three days before a final verdict is made.
During this time both staff and players are able to provide feedback,
and staff can either support or vote against the application.

 • Races and Classes which are restricted and require progression are in bold and underlined, and have a note attached on how to consider progressing into them.
 • If an asterisk (*) is marked against a restricted race or class, they are quite powerful, so make a good application, as it will need an extra staff members approval before it is accepted.
