Alice Stryker
Requiem

Alice was still pinned by her squad mates against the rock. She clenched her right hand in anger. Giving their cover a good slam with the side of her balled up fist. It left a small crater with vein like cracks reaching out to the rest of the rocks smooth surface. After the frustration removed itself from her body, Alice eased her muscles. The two remaining members of fire team Olympus let go putting their focus on the engaging enemy. Alice was still sitting, but had her M7S at the ready. She looked straight ahead to Viktor picking up Marina to her feet and barking a plan of action. Alice was in no shape to form any strategy herself. "Roger that... Metis?"

Metis looked down to Alice. "Yes?"

Alice was still breathing a little heavy with her tears drying on her face. "Do you have any smokes left?"

Metis gave a quick nod. "Three."

Alice picked herself up to a kneeling position to match Metis and Asclepius. "Big guy!? Lead the way to the base! Olympus will provide some diversions! We'll be right behind you!"

Requiem

Marina slowly pulled herself together. She thought her end had met here as the hardlight particles flew by her head. She released a breath which she wasn't aware she was holding as Viktor got her up. A simple nod was made from her as she shouldered her M7S, taking a quick glance back at the remaining members of Olympus. "...I'm sorry," she muttered her condolences to them before she got ready to move again.

Vik sighed stretching just a bit in the lapse pf all the conversations that occured. He was about to try and lead spartans in a dead sprint that were faster than him. They couldn't just sit around in thiss foliage moving slowly with snipers that could rip through their shields and it all be over.
"We're hoofing it, they're just going to whittle us like this if we dont make this trip short. I'm still broadcasting so if you lose me somehow just find that."

Vik readied himself glsncing down at Marina for a moment before his back foot sug into earth as he launches himself in the sprint. With his mass and speed any minor foliage was shredded as he made contact. He was effectively making an easy to traverse and follow trail. If he couldn't take hits for them or hell kill the enemy when he couldnt find them stleast he'd get them somewhere safe. "Legion you might want to get ready for contact I have no idea if these things will follow us ehen we break into the opening."

Requiem

Alice took all three smokes from Metis. "Go with them. Both of you." She didn't hesitate to give the order.

Metis paused for a moment. She knew Alice could read her facial expression under the cracked visor. "With all due respect. No, we will not leave you. We all agreed that if one person would stay behind. We all would. Do you remember that?"

Alice shook her head knowing that any further discussion would waste their time. "Go... That's an order."

Asclepius sighed. "But-..."

Alice stood up enough to keep below cover. "Now! Those two aren't going to wait. When I come back you can be pissed at me. Now, get out of here!"

Asclepius and Metis would shake their heads in disappointment and try to catch up with Vik and Marina.

Alice used the opportunity and ran for a nearby tree. She slid into cover where her broken rifle lay. "I hope this works..." Muttering to herself. Alice popped one of the smokes in the middle of the dirt path. The enemy wouldn't be able to see her quickly run across to nearby shrubbery. Within seconds Alice was back to her original spot. Again she popped a smoke. The leaves and small vines she had just obtained from her trip across the path were made into almost a candy wrapper shape. On the inside were the useless rifle rounds. She held two in each hand along with her final smoke before setting them down. Sitting with her back against the tree, Alice was thinking of a way to start a fire. Her hand was resting; touching a soft texture. Feeling it, she ripped away bringing it to eye level. Alice smiled, but it faded when she noticed the armor shaped crater where Erebus once lay. Alice took the knife from her armor and put the tree fungus against her outer thigh plate. With a few great strikes from the knife the fungus was lit. Quickly Alice would light both ammo sacks on fire. The leaves were thick so she had a decent window before they went off. Alice popped the final smoke. This time she threw it further so the enemy would be engulfed in the grenades obscurity. Alice was fast. Her smaller frame made it easier for her to sneak. With that she ran through the smoke behind the enemy planting the ammo sacks in different locations. It wasn't long until she was back to safety and the smoked cleared. A constant gunfire could be heard in the distance. Like an automatic rifle going off. Alice peeked over the cover to see the enemy retreating to the noise.

Requiem

With the shifts of the Spartan's hastily fortified stronghold swapping regularly, Kessler had taken the time to get into contact with Infinity. Comms were still a mess, but making contact was as good a start as any. He sent out the combined groups contact report, and situation report consisting of wounded, KIA's, ammo count, supplies. He sighed once he was finished.

He sent an alert to Spartan Carmine. She was on watch right now, and the big bad boss needed to rest.

------

Marina was on shift, sitting out on rock face watching the structures six o'clock. Her legs dangled over the edge somewhat as she cycled through a few family pictures, being sure to scan her sector.

She paused for a moment, answering the alert. "Whats up Kessler?"

"I made contact with the infinity. Did you want to come in so I can brief you?"

"No, everyone needs their sleep. Just send me what you have and I'll disseminate information once my shift is over."

"Got it... Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

Viktor "Akula" Carmine

Viktor knew he didn't feel safe even if his nerves were at ease. He couldn't take off his helmet the whole time he tried to rest. He had been exhausted when they had finally made it back. Sure he was big and the armor wasn't that heavy to him but he'd been running most of the day, smashing through flora all the while. He felt sore, still tired but mostly mentally and was already wishing he had kept some form of flask with him to at least calm himself. Why couldn't they just have one easy job? Marina's words came back to his mind about how they didn't have to do this anymore.

Viktor's breath hastened as for a moment he felt the cold chill return from when he encountered the flood on that dreadful coffin of a ship. There was no way he was going to lay around after those thoughts. The large man stood with a grunt patting his side arm before heading outside. Viktor stood near the ledge of the structure just peering out across the land towards the trees. They were sitting ducks almost helpless and alone. How could he even get some sleep without his body requesting it?
"Marina I can take over your shift and the next, I can't sleep anymore if I tried... Guess our talk had a bad premonition huh?" Vik laughed dryly as he began to go through his hud, searching for anything knew while still watching the tree line with a heavy stare.

Requiem

Alice, like many others, couldn't sleep. She lay awake against the foreign wall as a dim light slightly sent an aura around her. Alice's helmet sat on the floor next to her. The rest of Olympus was far away in their dreams, or nightmares... Those were too often now. In Alice's hand was a ring. Given to her by Erebus after a leisurely excursion. They weren't legally married or even recognized as so. But they were great friends, and had decided that this was as good as it was going to get for them. So they hitched themselves. They never formally told the rest of Olympus, but they could see through the secret. They just never made their knowledge aware. A single tear fell from Alice's pondering eyes, and crashed onto her armor. Quickly and silently she rushed outside leaving her helmet as is. Disappearing into the surrounding shrubbery, Alice met the edge seeing trees below. The ring moved between her fingers as she remembered the memories that her and Erebus had. Holding the ring close to her chest, another tear fell down her face. The wind strong enough to move it in another direction causing it fall down the rock face into the trees. Alice lifted her hand over the edge letting the ring fall into canopy below.

Marina was a little surprised to hear Vik. she assumed he would atlest be trying to force himself to get some rest. She pushed the visuals to the side, clearing the internals of her visor. She wasn't sure if it were a private channel or not, so she had to be careful with her wording.

"You really should rest. But no, my shift is just about over, I'm switching with Kessler soon. But we got word from the Infinity. Could your raise Artemis, and we all meet inside if she isn't sleeping? I've got Devil's team lead enroute. We'll probably be moving soon."

She got up from her position, checking her weapon before walking toward their hastily fortified structure. "...Viktor...I'm not going to lie, I'm worried about you...a lot's happened and...I-I guess, I just... Are you okay?"

Viktor "Akula" Carmine

Viktor sighed looking down st his hands just putting a fist into the palm of the other. He took deep breaths but his hands wouldn't stop shaking. Too many new horrors his nerves might of finally been fried. Viktor geunter as he punched his palm the aggression stopped the shaking briefly before it came back weaker. His muscles were too tense toshake about. He had been listening to Marina just not making much chatter. Viktor sent a message on his tacpsd to Artmeis apologising for waking her but there was logistics to discuss.

He really must be out of it he almost didn't catch the fact Marina was approaching. Vik took in a gentle breath as he held his arms down by his sides but tight to atleaat keep the shaking from his hands to be noticeable.
"I would say never better... but we both know that'd be a lie... Marina I'm not about to break down, I'm fine." He rarely lied to her but this was obvious. His posture and his voice said it or stleast hinted. Some part of him wanted her to catch him, just help him actually breathe for a moment that didnt feel strained. He needed to be her rock too though she got to decide what she wanted, it was how they started it was going to be how they lived. "It's just a bit of restlessness. I didn'twant to wake anyone up with my giant ass rolling around slamming my head into the floor. I'll rest when we're all safe."

"It's not just me okay...we all need you. This team looks up to you, so you need to be rested and level." She paused for a brief moment once she finally stood in front of him. Her right hand leaving the grip of her weapon to lightly touch his forearm. "Hey...we'll be okay. A lot of crazy shit has happened in quick succession, and I know there are things that you won't tell me, New horrors because you don't want to worry me. And that's okay Viktor, because I trust your judgement. I always have and I always will."

Marina closed her eyes as her head lowered. She let her armored body rest against his. "No matter what, I'm here okay? I made a promise to you way back when...I'll keep the monsters away, you just have to trust me...trust us. We'll be okay, and should the worse happen. You can't blame yourself. We're all here by choice, it's thevjob we were given and we'll do it. Nothing has changed...just don't go wearing the weight on your shoulders."
