Fireteam Legion

Marina gave a simple nod, backing away from the breach she had created to rejoin the team and get them moving in another direction. Her pace picked up somewhat, but with no word of discouragement she continued. A shuffled screech caught her attention. The first signs of life on this awkward planet. It obviously wasn't covenant though. She knew their sounds all to well. Despite this though she didn't stop...

At least not until she caught sight of the wreckage. The wing of a Pelican half way torn through a tree and jutting out, the engine block a few meters down, the tail, main body. The Cockpit itself was torn away. "Downed bird, nine o'clock. fifty meters out. "I'm going to check it out." Marina's form shifted, diverting course to close in on the wreckage, her HUD still linked to Victor's. She zoomed in on the armored body of a Spartan along the crashed path, sprawled out in one of the craters. "One body so far... Told you you were still lucky." There was still so much of that site to see though.

Viktor sighed trying to catch up with Marina upon her seeing the wreckage. Anxiousness was beginning to set in especially with a spartan down. He began to give her overwatch without saying anything at first. Just giving her space he trusted her he just needed to stay a bit professional over his feelings.
"Just be careful, with how long we've all be smashed onto this planet we might have uninvited guests soon. Legion stay on alert we don't know if they've been here yet." Viktor grunted as he leaned against the tree raising the saw to do slow scans of the area around. "I'll show you how funny that was once we get to the objective Marina..."

"Promises," Marina's cheeky reply as she moved closer toward the body. She gave the area a quick scan, doing a full three-sixty before taking a knee next to the downed Spartan.

"Roger." Kessler replied as he fanned out a bit and took up a security position. He hefted the DMR and started his scans of the wide sector he was responsible for. Anderson on the other hand remained with the pilots, keeping them low and quiet. "Not sure how long we can stay to look around boss."

Marina for the most part ignored their comments. The bio readings showed the Spartan was indeed dead, multiple breaches in his suit. It basically flooded him with biofoam and poisoned his system...but he was dead long before that happened. The Spartan set her Assault rifle down, and used her right hand to lift the deceased spartan onto his sighed. An audible gasp being heard as she observed the wounds. There several punctures, they tore right through him and his armor... Parts of him just seemed...burnt away judging by the wounds.

His left arm wasn't even connected, it almost looked to be nothing more than ashes now that she really got a good look at it. "What the hell... this isn't from the crash?" Another high pitched shriek forced Marina to jump, she dropped the Spartan and grabbed her rifle. Her green eyes slowly scanned the area in front of her as the rifle came up to her shoulder. "...something is out here. And that is not covenant."

Viktor continued to give overwatch as Marina inspected the body. Poor sod was riddled but all they could do is find out what happened to him. It wasn't plasma or needler that's for sure. Might of been heated shrapnel upon crash but that didn't make sense either. When the arm was deduced to be ash the large man stood up fully looking around. Another shriek, they needed to find the rest from the crash and fsst.

"Let's do a run by where that came from, if someone is going around killing those at crash sites we need to put a stop to it... we're closer to the objective might be a reason why..." Viktor began to move towards where the shriek was opting to get closer to Marina and the crash site. He prefers solid cover and didn't like someone being alone, especially her.

"Roger, moving." Kessler got up, keeping his sights trained on the area in front of Marina as he made his approach from the far left of the crash site. He flashed his waypoint as to alert his allies of where he was coming from so they wouldn't blast him if by chance they were feeling jumpy.

Anderson got up, keeping the pilots behind him as he crept forward with Viktor. "Goddamn, first contact is always such a bitch. Why does everything want to kill us?"

Marina kept her weapon trained downrange, noting several bullet casings littered the area. The pilots obviously didn't make it out of the cockpit judging by the crash, yet this was the only other body. "This is fireteam Devil...they were beign sent on a Raid to draw attention away from us... This Spartan is the only body here. Footprints and bullet casings, suggest a firefight broke out and the team made their exit toward our objective... What in the hell is going on?"

She stood up, her weapon remaining pointed forward as another shriek rang out, this one seemed to carry, echoing around the area. It would fade and grow in osculation as if it were traveling around them. "Well shit..."

Viktor pressed gently against the Pelican as he scanned sround them. So if any of them made it they'd be at the objective hopefully. They'd need to link up but whatever got the best of them... it was still around. He checked his tacpad again, it was still close to being useless.
"Alright Legion, if Demon headed off to the objective they might need support so we need to get movin-" That's when the shrieking began to go around them. Viktor began to sweep a bit frantically trying to focus in on the target steadying his breath."Defensive positions! If whatever the hell this is caught Demon this bad then we might have to fucking bail so get ready to run to the objective if they drop the axe on us."

The fireteam tightened up with the pilots, ready to bolt if need be. "Holy shit..." Anderson breathed in a sigh as his motion sensor went nuts. "What are the chances that its just wind? As if on cure, a dark orange or even redish bolt flashed by Anderson's right forearm. "Woah! What the hell was that?"

"Three o'clock high!" Unknown to Kessler, what he called out would later be known as a watcher. "It's a...flying clock...I think." The Watcher veered to the right and started to open fire on the group again. Kessler started to strafe somewhat toward the Pelican, and fired up at the Watcher.

Marina turned, getting the two pilots to duck their heads low. She quickly pulled them toward the downed Pelican for cover. That's when a flash caught her eye. It looked like they were just...appearing from nowhere. "What the hell... six o'clock!" She brought up her assault rifle, and sent several controlled bursts toward the almost dog looking quadrupeds that had materialized behind them.

This was not good, was running again and again Viktor's mindset. Enemies were appearing in increasing numbers and some from just thin air. It wasn't plasma by how it traveled it was more of a solid projectile maybe super-heated he didn't know. Viktor turned opening fire on the quadripeds. There was no way he was going to do significant damage to the fast flying target the best thing to do was to fire into the masses. Viktor started counting down from two minutes. If the enemy reinforcements hadn't stopped by then, they'd have to make a run for it.
"Hold steady til my call, there's no way in hell the foliage will be able to hold up against that!"

Kessler and Anderson concentrated fire on the flying enemy with their precision weapons, scoring several hits before it seemed to turn tail and run. "The hell? Oh no you don't." Kessler brought the DMR back to his shoulder, zeroing in on teh mass of the weird looking thing before pulling the trigger and watching it explode. "...machines, no shields? What in teh hell are these things...and what are they shooting at us?" He muttered as his shields flared from the "dog like robots firing at him. He and Kessler moved back into cover near the Pelican's wreckage and started harassing firing maneuvers.

Marina watched as Viktor's controlled fire seemed to scatter the group of robotic like beings, some of them exploding as they scrambled. "Not so tough are you?" As if on cue a thick beam like heat streaked by her head. MArina's eyes widened as it burned through the Pelican behind her, cutting through it like butter, but even more so striking the co-pilot. She turned, watching him just...disintegrate. His screams were short lived, though well heard.

The Spartan turned, watching a larger robotic figure. This one was a biped, its motions suggested it was top heavy, which was quite obvious from the shape of its body through the fog. "Wha-...what the fuck is that?"

(Because Knight's plus binary rifle equal rape)

Viktor took a sharp inhale. He snapped towards the bipedal machine glancing back towards what it had hit. Anger flared into his mind as he aimed and peppered the target. He would of kept going but as his shields were put to the test he lowered himself back into cover giving return fire for the moment.
"Get the fuck down! I don't know what the fuck these things are but god damn it-!" One if the hound like creatures launched themselves at him. He raised his saw throwing it into his underbelly before slamming it behind him. Viktor fired rounds into it until it "popped" before going back to firing. "If they don't let up soon we're gonna have to hoof it, just- damn it be careful. If needed used explosives some of these targets are thick."
