Marina Carmine Requiem Fireteam Legion Anderson complied quickly, lobbing two drag grenades toward the large biped. It tried to move but the explosions caught it. "Damn that thing is tough...but that flash, I think it's shields are down." "Sweet," Kessler came from cover. engaging the Knight with his DMR. The Knight's 'mask' opened, revealing a human skull as it roared in what appeared to be anger. It charged forward, using short bursts of teleportation to throw off the Spartans. "Holy shit!" Kessler fell onto his rear when the Knight appeared in front of him. His falling saved him from getting his head chopped off by its bladed arm. At this point Marina had her Spartan laser over her shoulder. Once the Knight swung for Kessler she had a fifty percent charge. She decided that was enough and just fired. The beam slammed into the Knight, pushing it off its feet before cutting it in half. Anderson scrambled back to cover and put two rounds into the fallen Knight. "They're backing off," the pilot called out as he poked his head up from cover. |

Viktor "Akula" Carmine Requiem Time seemed to slow a bit as the bipedal machine nearly decapitated Kessler. Marina, god bless his wife's soul. She saved him in the knick of time. Viktor went right back to firing st the remaining machines as they retreated onot running over to Kessler when it was all clear. He patted the man gently just double checking he was alright before a sigh of relief came out from the large man's helmet. Viktor stiffened for a moment seeing the ashes that were the remains of the co-pilot... "We can't stop now, we're already down a man and foreign machines are on us. Before things get worse we need to head to the objective and link up with anyone there..." Viktor kicked at some of the robotic parts around. He was a bit distressed at how quick and what a brutal way they lost the co-pilot. It also meant that him being a large target was a bigger issue than before. A bit of fear ran through Viktor, if he got hit with one of those, would it fully disintegrate him too... and if it did would they be okay without him. Viktor shook his head as he just signaled everyone to move forward. He needed to stop getting sucked into his pessimistic mind and just act... The first few steps allowed him to just follow into a rythm. |

Marina Carmine Requiem Fireteam Legion Kessler took a deep breath as Viktor inspected him. "Hey hey I'm good boss man, all the parts still work." He grinned under the cover of his helmet and picked up the binary rifle. "What the hell is this? It's...So sleek." Anderson walked over to inspect it. "The weapon looks to have a trigger mechanism and optic...No idea how to reload it though, so you'll just have to mess around with it." Marina stayed near the pilot, keeping his head low for the moment as she scanned the area. "Once Viktor was ready to move, she got him up and followed. This time she let Kessler take point with his new toy. The worried wife decided to open a private line to her husband. "Hey, are you alright? Don't worry, the others can't hear us...you can be honest." |

VIktor "Akula" Carmine Requiem Viktor felt a bit uneasy with Kessler messing around with the weapon that had vaporized the co-pilot only moments ago. His normal movements jerked for a moment as Marina spoke into his helmet. Damn it she caught him, why did she have to be so good at reading him. "We already lost somebody and things seem to be going down the shitter. With how it just got him though it means I can't take hits for anyone and worse...I'm a big target hun...those seem to need only to hit. I just I'm a bit worried about the likelihood of success of the mission and eventual evac of this planet to keep it simple...." |

Marina Carmine Requiem Fireteam Legion Marina could understand what he was feeling. but maybe there was more hope than he was allowing himself to indulge in. "To be fair...And I don't mean to sound like a cold heartless chick. But the co-pilot was a soft target. We've got armor, shields...not that I think that's an excuse for you to play riotshield. I'm not sharing you with these boys." She allowed a faint chuckle. "We'll be okay. We'll know better once we get to the target site. Just remember, we're not kids were your teammates. We've got your back too. Alright?" |

Viktor "Akula" Carmine Requiem Viktor sighed nodding in agreement as they continued. He was s bit of a pessimist... he could see that there was some hope, atleast short term anywsys. He winced st the mention of the co-pilot. A casualty was a casualty nine the less but she had a point. He wasn't thinking about taking many rounds for them it was he was jusy a big target in general. He never feared snipers like he did now. "Yeah I know you're all capable relax... I wouldn't be me if I never stopped worrying though would I? Everything seems clear for now and at the least we still have the pilot... with all of the crazy science shit that seems to be laying around I suppose we could get home even if worse comes to worse... just might take a while..." |

Marina Carmine Requiem Fireteam Legion "Yeah well all I know about this crazy science stuff, is that if I apply enough force it will go boom. What more do I need to know," she joked. "Don't over think it okay? I love you." This mood was cut short as Kessler came over the teams comm which prompted Marina to switch back. Kessler was about twenty five meters ahead of everyone else, using that new rifle and its scope to decent effect. "Boss, you're going to want to come up and see this." With that said Marina moved over to Anderson. They held a defensive position around the pilot after moving him to cover. The site that would great Dom would be a rather destroyed Covenant checkpoint. There were several towers, a destroyed Wraith, covenant bodies littered the grounds along with a few hastily placed together barriers. "These guys aren't having a good day either." |

Viktor "Akula" Carmine The final words, they still made his face a bit red even this many years down the line. With a gentle morale boost Viktor lifted himself up a bit and just as he was about to return the affection, Kessler came on the comms. Viktor groaned internally before heading up towards the man to see what was needed to be seen. Viktor lowered the saw in a bit of awe at the scene. So the machines were hitting all living things on the planet thay was good but these covenant contingent was much more equipped than they were. Yet here it was in ruin. "We go around... God they tore them a new one. I hope the rest of Demon is okay, this was the contingent they were supposed to distract. Let's just keep going I don't want to get caught out again especially with no solid cover." |

Marina Carmine Requiem Fireteam Legion "Yeah, Roger that. Going waaaay around this craziness." The marksmen picked up, standing up a bit higher and moving off to the left. He planned to keep his spread from the rest of the fire team. "Hey, I got friendly contacts within two hundred meters going by this sensor." Anderson jumped on the line to confirm. " Yeah, my bioscanner is pinging friendlies between us and our target." "Well, I guess the rest of Devil is still kickin'. Suppose I'll stay with the pilot then since you all seem to be in party mode." "Sorry mom." "Shut up Kessler." |

Viktor "Akula" Carmine Requiem Viktor just shook his head in a bit of disbelief they needed to link up with some group if they had a chance. His prayers were answered shortly after. A few friendlies and only two hundred meters, hell that increased their odds a hell of a lot. Just as he was about to get them moving the old jokes began. He put the end of the suggestion rather quickly. "Another team or not we still move as a a unit, theyre probably slowed down if were catching on them after all this time. Anders try to get them on the comms otherwise let's get moving." It was pretty obvious why he'd gotten so serious all of a sudden sgain. A little bit of defensiveness had kicked in, he might of bit less straightforward if it had been anyone else but, leaving her with a just a pilot was definitely not hsppening. Besides they had way better odds altogether rather than splitting up to go chase down friendlies. |
