Hello everyone, and welcome to Zozoken's Blog!

This is actually an unofficial blog that I'm testing out to see what kind of blog I'd like to do. Expect some experimental stuff here!

With that out of the way, it's time to jump right into today's topic...

Inside Jokes
- Blog #001 -

Throughout my year of streaming, my channel has picked up quite a few dedicated fans (as proven last night when I got 10 viewers with a short secret surprise cast). I think many channels have a core fan-base, and from that fan-base comes channel memes and inside jokes. Those that are uninitiated to the channel may feel left out or taken aback by these, whereas the regulars feel a closer tie to the channel.

If those casters stream together or visit a few streams together, those inside jokes spread and become even more closed. Now in order to get them, the future fan would have to watch several streams for awhile. Once again, this ties the already formed fan-base even closer together.

My channel is certainly no exception, and so without further adieu, I'm going to cast some of my own channel's memes and inside jokes. If others would like to post theirs, we can create a new thread and learn about everyone's secret handshakes.

Galactic Glacier

This one started while I was on Crimsonnn's stream during his first marathon. He was playing through Super Mario Infinity, a very difficult SMW romhack. I knew about it because I saw a Let's Play of it by Raocow on YouTube. In it was the following message box:

I cannot put to words how this pulls different chords in my mind. Perhaps it's because Raocow laughed hysterically at this message too (but he laughs hysterically in a lot of his Let's Plays). Perhaps it's because this game's plot expects you to take it seriously. Maybe it's just the term itself and how ridiculous it sounds. Whatever the reason, when me and Crimsonnn started to talk about Galactic Glacier... I lost it. I couldn't stop laughing, no matter how hard I tried. I had to leave the stream for a bit to recompose myself. Crimsonnn thought my reaction to Galactic Glacier was more funny than the term itself could ever be, and throughout the marathon, either he or his chat would randomly bring up Galactic Glacier again. I would lose it again, have to pause my mic, come back, rinse and repeat.

At the time, I shared a similar fan-base with Crimsonnn because I was playing through some SMW romhacks myself. Me and Crimsonnn would also attend each others' streams regularly. So it was no surprise that people in chat started talking about Galactic Glacier even when I wasn't playing a SMW romhack, just to see my reaction. Maduo probably did this more than any other viewer combined.

Zatching

There's a certain caster named Zatch581. He's a good kid that at the time had a horrible quality stream and horrible commentary to match. I was friends with him, and he saw I was gaining in popularity, so he did the logical thing. He asked me to help him make his stream better.

Try as I might, though, I couldn't get Zatch to take my advice on improving his stream. I found it hard to promote him at all, especially when he was at times flat-out rude to the few viewers he had. In particular, he would go into popular retro streams just to say he's going to cast now, and then post a link to his channel and promptly leave. Eventually, GQ got tired of this and banned him from his channel.

I felt pretty bad for Zatch. When I say he's a good kid, I really mean that. Me and Zatch go way back. So I talked to GQ personally about unbanning him and explaining to GQ that he just wants to get popular like we were. GQ understood that Zatch meant no harm, and unbanned him.

However, Zatch did not give up. He refused to improve his stream, and he kept asking me to find a way, any way, to make him popular. I did know of a way, but it had its costs. I asked him if he was sure he really meant any way. He begged and pleaded. I decided, there's no such thing as bad publicity, and I'd promote that his channel is really fun if you go into it with the mindset of a B-Rated movie.

So, with the help of GQ we decided we would promote Zatch, in probably the worst way possible. We created a meme that he eventually hated, but his channel became a household name. He got the fame he wanted, and even a cult following of younger casters that actually did like his cast. Eventually, Zatch started improving his stream on his own.

Oh, right, got a little side-tracked. I started the meme by going into GQ's one day and said "Well, I'm gonna stream now." Then I posted Zatch's stream and left.

There's a lot of history between my channel and Zatch's, because we're friends and we've been a part of each others' streams since the beginning. So there's more than just one reference to Zatch in my channel, but Zatching is the most famous one and the one that's likely to be considered an inside joke for new viewers.

Are You a Bad Enough Dude?

And finally, these last two happened due to last night's stream:

Due to Tax Limitations

Shoes are the Winner
