I remember coming back to high school after New Years was over and we seemed to be in that bleak state of existence where Spring Baseball was being practiced in the gym. Football was over so life revolved around the "Snow Ball" which was a Rainbow Girls sponsored function and the girls invited the boys. Spring break which was designed to save the sanity of the Teachers was not until early or mid March so the downtown theater was the hot listed item for many of us. Jobs for the Juniors and Seniors were after school and weekends while the Freshmen and Sophomores shoveled walks and baby set their younger siblings. Trips to the Library in New Castle became the group adventure for research papers and speech preparation. Days dragged on forever and Concert Band was usually preparing for a Spring Concert. I am sure most of my Classmates remember far more about those months than I do. Hunting seasons were over or in the last days of finishing up for the late seasons. Since I promised my Boss at City Market I wouldn't participate in any sports but football, my routine was confined to School, after school work and the excitement of finding a way to spend a few hours a week with my girlfriend (Kathy my future wife.) who also worked after school as a nurses aid. My Senior year I was given the additional job of being Janitor for City Market after the store closed. I often wandered what all my buddies were up to who didn't work all the time. I don't regret even one minute of my time working and going to school but can anyone fill me in on the general activities everyone else was doing in January, February, March, April and May? |

As always, Don, your memory simply amazes me and I love reading your stories. I'll have to scratch my head on this one. You cause me to think about things that have long ago been buried in the recesses of my mind and quite possibly lost forever! |
