What am I allowed to create?

Well this one is easy! If it fits into the Supernatural Lore, you are welcome to create whatever you want! Just have a full understanding of what you are creating, or be willing to learn. For example, a demon cannot evoke Enochian magic, no matter how hard it tries.

Humans, Hunters with base starting kits, etc. are the easiest to get cleared. Any creature with supernatural powers is going to go through a more thorough review process as we want to know that you know what you are getting into. If you are intending to create a high tier character such as a God, Angel, Demon Prince, etc. please come with a plot proposal with an intended story line so the character is not simply running around as a loose canon which could potentially disrupt other story lines in play.

Click this link for a list of acceptable monsters. They will still need to be reviewed by an Admin or Moderator, but no extensive discussion will need to be had about them.

So I can make something other than a human?

Absolutely. But be advised, if you make a character that is considered a canon non-human (Vampire, Werewolf, Djinn, Demon, Angel, etc.) you are subject to being hunted, especially if your character makes poor choices. There are no exceptions to this rule.

But my character is a good ______! I don't want to be hunted!

Supernatural is a gritty world and people tend to be stuck in their ways of thinking. Characters who are monsters that want to live a more redeemable lifestyle need to earn the respect to not be hunted. Good examples of this in Supernatural Canon are characters like Benny, Garth, Rowena, and Crowley. Whereas, on the dangerous other hand, one slip-up or mistake and you could end up like Amy Pond, the Kitsune that only killed once for her child.

Admins and Moderators will not protect your character if you choose to make a monster. It is your responsibility to take the necessary steps in character to earn your right to be on the good side and to make the right decisions. These should be very difficult for your character to achieve and make for wonderful character development. You will not be permitted to have an original non-human character be automatically accepted into any hunter ring unless it is presented to an Admin with a reason behind the need for the back story and an intended plot direction.

So... Can I make a canon character?

Absolutely! However, if the character is already taken on the list, you will not be permitted to make a double. People leave RPs, canon characters open up. However, if you are taking the place of a canon character who is already established into the RP, you must be willing to pick up where the previous player left off for continuity purposes.

**Canon characters are considered idled after 30 days of inactivity with the exception of the player contacting an Admin with a reason behind the absence beyond their control and the expressed intent to return. Admins reserve the right to take it upon themselves to NPC your canon character absent from the RP, and will direct the absence in the direction of the story line. If you play a canon, you will be updated on what your character has done NPC-wise while you were absent upon your return. After 30 days of no contact from the player, and no attempt at informing an Admin that the player intends to come back, the canon character will be considered available. If after 30 days, the original player returns and the character slot has not been filled, the original player may resume playing the character.

I don't want to play a canon, but I want to play something bloodline-based off the canon. What if I want to be Sam Winchester's young adult son that learned the hunting life with him?

This isn't really an option and here's why: This is an enduring problem at this point and will no longer be available as a go-to option. We'll take some ideas into consideration, but we will not allow any kind of write-in that would force a massive revision of canonical history. For example, if Sam had a son, many of his adventures would have changed. The motivations of everyone else around him in the show probably would have been wildly different. For instance, how many fights and arguments would have ended in reminding Sam that he had a kid to go back to? How many more times would he have tried to retire? While the rule used to be that it just needed the immediately related canon player's permission to allow, but since then it has been noticed that the main problem is the inevitable butter-fly effect in canon characters around the OTHER canon characters. It brings to light so many more questions that mess with canonical continuity. Questions raised are things like: Why didn't Sam tell Dean he had a kid all those years? How did he hide it from Castiel who could pop in mid-poop on them, much less when they travel together all the time? Yes, we can argue John had Adam secretly, but John only visited Adam a few times his entire life, and that was while depositing Sam and Dean as children in a motel room. It's pretty hard to just make Dean and Cas stay out of Sam's life.
This is a metaphorical situation. I'm using Sam as an example. The same is applicable for Dean, and Castiel. No, Castiel will not have a nephilim child, because you would underscore seasons of his objective. Etc.
While some characters were previously approved before this clause was applied, and they will be continued to play, the notice moving forward is this: Henceforth you will not be permitted a related-to-canon non-canon without strict review and reliable understanding of the effects your character may or may not have on the canon characters.
Do you want to be the son of Dean Winchester in his young man-whore days when he got drunk, forgot a condom, and fucked off to the wind completely ignorant to him existing? Sure. That doesn't obligate anyone to changing up their entire canonical history.
Do you want to be the other-other child of John Winchester that was effectively hidden from the angels, but never once met nor heard of the Winchesters, and didn't know their father? Okay. That doesn't obligate anyone to changing anything.
Do you want to be the one that the Winchesters secretly hid from each other for no good reason? Do you want to obligate Dean to being a dick that mind-wiped Ben and Lisa for their safety but let you pine after him with unrequitted daddy issues? No. Because then you're obligating anyone attached to Dean to dealing with the ramifications - and that is not OK.

In short, bloodlines are allowed to some degree, but must in no way impact previously established canon or demand the communal rewrite so you can get your easy-in. It's not fair to the player you're asking to have to rewrite for your purposes, because the option you give them then is to feel like a dick if they say no. It's not fair to everyone they play with because they then have to try to back-write all of their own history or have the inevitable fallout of discovery that is obligated to from the secrets after. It's simply not acceptable.

We will permit bloodline proposals, but only in contexts like the ones outlined above. Understand that if it will, by any means, force another character to rewrite their entire back story, then it will be automatically declined and you will need to find another proposal.

What if I want to make a specialized hunter?

Be prepared to present a thorough back story as to how your character ended up with the specialization. For instance, if you want to play a 20 year old who's been hunting for three years, he's probably not an expert at anything just yet. However, if you want to play a seasoned hunter, just be ready to explain what made the character take the road he or she did and how they ended up pursuing a specific type of hunt. This does not discourage people from playing younger character that have a specialization. The hunter world is a cruel world where children tend to get involved most of the time by their parents. Characters who are 23-24 years old can still be experts on hunting things like the more classic monsters if they have been exposed to the world all of their life and their parents taught them how to handle the threat.

Now, bare in mind, in the show, Sam and Dean didn't even know Angels existed until they were in their late twenties, and they were terrified of demons in the first few seasons. Dean did not originally even believe in vampires, and was also ecstatic to go on his first werewolf hunt while in his twenties. Young characters still have a lot to explore and discover, especially when they are new to hunting. Skepticism is encouraged for character development, and having a character that does not believe things like Banshees actually existing is a very possible thing. Be creative and think. Would you as a person believe someone if they just randomly came up to you and said they were hunting a werewolf when you were told it was just a wild animal attack?

Do I have to play as a Hunter or a Monster? What if I just want to be a normal person?

We like to call this being the potential to be caught in the crossfire and is an amazing opportunity. You are not required to play as a hunter. You are not required to play as a monster. You can be Betty Anne who lived down the road from some crazy old man who swore he hunted vampires for a living. Or you could just be another person on the streets that has an opportunity to get caught up in some pretty crazy adventures! No one is stopping you from being just a person, and marvelous character development can come out of these characters.

But if I make my character, I don't want them to die! How do I prevent this?

By making intelligent decisions in character. An Admin or Moderator will not protect you, especially from your own mistakes in character. Free will is a very real thing, and if you are in an intense situation and a gun comes out? You better be ready to figure out how to not get shot as bullets are very hard to naturally dodge once they are discharged from the gun.

But not all mistakes can be made in the presence of a gun. For instance, if you are a human and you make a demon angry, he is going to attack and you are very likely going to get hurt. Demons are stronger than humans. Angels have the power to smite. Vampires are faster and stronger than humans and will also not hesitate to rip out your jugular. As a player, you are required to accept the consequences of your decisions in character and understand that this is a Supernatural RP. Characters will die.

Keep in mind, however, that characters will die even if they did not make a mistake. There are monsters in this world, and a hungry werewolf could be lurking right around the corner, jump out, and attack your character. If you are not prepared for this, you will be wolf kibble. You will at that point be what is known as a 'victim' and other characters will react accordingly. You may not always die in these situations, either. This opens up for rescue missions, revival stories (pending Admin approval), and revenge. All of these options are dependent on your character's relationships with other characters and how much of an effect you had on their life. If your character was someone that just happened to maybe possibly meet another character in a potential passerby RP the last time you logged in three weeks ago, you may not ask them to work a rescue mission for your character, unless you want to be considered as a hunter case, in which you will need to contact an Admin or Moderator to get that ball rolling.

So how many characters can I have in this RP?

As many as you can handle in regards to OCs, but still within reason. Please refrain from logging in all of your character accounts and alting as all of them strictly so you can be everywhere and do everything.

HOWEVER! You are limited to two ( 2 ) canon characters, with extreme exception pending both Admins' approvals. We want everyone to have a fair chance at canons, and we also want to encourage less popular canons to make an appearance!

So what if I want to play a canon that is already dead or was removed from the show?

Do you have a good idea as to how to make this possible? Do you have a great story to back up how they didn't actually die or how they came back from the dead? Then go for it! Exceptions to these rules, however, will be canon characters that if they came back, the entire Supernatural story line would be moot. Canon Characters like Michael, Raphael, Zachariah, Abbadon, Azazel, and Lillith will not be permitted with extreme exception pending both Admins' approval.

Do you have any other questions or need further clarification? Contact one of the Admins or Moderators and we'll help you out!
