So I wanted to touch base, ground things a bit, and really hash out what this RP is here for and where we intend to go with it.

OOC
SPN is an old RP fandom and over time, a lot of conflict has risen in groups over various drama. People can argue until they're blue in the face over who did what to whom and deserved what-why, but I don't want to hear about that. This is a room designed to dump out old grudges, old bans, and old problems. I don't care who you are, I don't care who pissed you off. Drop the baggage at the door and make a new threshold where everyone is welcome. The only time someone will be removed is if they fail at the "drop the baggage" part. If you get OOCly vicious, you will be removed. This is a safe haven, a reboot, and a fresh start.

If you're new to the SPN fandom in RPH for RP, that's fine. Don't let that scare you off. I have a staunch no-bullshit policy on people being assholes. I won't let it in the room. If anyone ever bothers you, log it and send it to me and it will be handled immediately.

Period.

IC, Story
We intend to encompass all parts of the SPN fandom. There's humor, friendship, and adventure; but there's also grit, grizzle and the unexpected. The rules cover how the latter half manifests, and I expect those to be read.

However, the rules don't completely convey one thing I want to construe: The Spirit of Supernatural.

Somewhere in the glamor, the special effects, and the salvation of the world, people tend to forget the real origin of SPN: Humans saving humans, against all odds.

We openly allow monsters and beasties and all kinds of things. I will gladly work on you with a plot that everyone can engage in. And I emphasize everyone. But plot proposals I will not humor are when a supreme being makes a plan to make a thing with another supreme being and all problems are handled on a divine level. Divine and demonic, monster engagement is fine - but I want people to remember that the human struggle against adversity and fate is what made us love Supernatural to begin with.

I realize there's irony in this while I type from a Castiel name, but I actually chose to occupy the Castiel name as a form of restraint. It wasn't Cas that had the fortitude to actually stop Lucifer and Michael; he failed. It wasn't Cas that took down Richard Leviathan, that was Dean; it wasn't Cas that had the will to leave Purgatory; that was Dean. It wasn't Castiel that outmatched Naomi's control, that was Dean's plea. It wasn't Castiel that ended Amara's situation and negotiated for God; that was Dean. Like... Cas is there. He HELPS, he helps a lot. But... it's always been about the humans and that's what we adore. And Castiel is just an engine to help humans move on that. Our other angelic roles require a story direction and proposal as per character creation; Castiel as a free-canon loose-cannon if he isn't properly inhibited and tailored to promote human objectives can be a story-wrecking nightmare. I'd have to constantly sit around being a dick and keeping someone in check to prevent making just about anyone else irrelevant.

I miss the old Supernatural RPs, when people made hunters more than they made monsters or hunter-monster fusions. I want to see if I can encourage that again. You are free to make strange and wonderful creatures to engage with along the road of the human hunters, and I encourage that too. But if you're looking for me to assist you in promoting any sort of over-arching campaign to present to the room, please keep in mind that it can't be a deity or monster-based self-resolving issue; we need the human element. I will gladly help tie in magical characters to missions and stories to promote them, but please remember the spirit of the show we so adore and why we love this show and these characters. It's so easy to lose sight of when we stare at special effects and think something looks cool... but make sure the cool is a compliment to a thematic story, and not the center of attention. Special effects and grandness don't themselves build a wonderful story. Humanity and heart does.

And most of all, for the love of Chuck, if you make a special snowflake for a story purpose, be ready to let that special snowflake melt away. By this I mean creatures that are plot-pivotal evolutions that the humans have to work to or through. Very few monster or angelic beings stick through with the humans, and for a reason. Those that are become highly regulated and limited to not shatter the dynamic we love.

Consider this a public service announcement.

Canonical Complications:
For a long time we've run canon parallels where applicable alongside our storylines, and even recently continued to try to press through it for quests. Considering the bad-fanfiction nightmare that season 12 has become, I am going to try to more boldly enforce a break away from this and discontinue canonical parallels, as they have become completely incompatible with people who have actually objectively been maintaining canonical character continuity and advancement. Henceforth writing prompts from S12 are going to cease once we resolve the nephilim storylines we're engaged with. I honestly consider S11 the last true canon season at this point - before the MOL were all James Bond and before Lucifer had toddler tantrums and before Castiel forgot everything he learned the last 8 years.
