lets be honest here. the only people that would bet against the patriots, are those with money to burn and those that dont know much about football.

....or Paul.

LOL wow your right on. I wanted to bet only because I am an action junkie. I was having a chat with myself about it and it went a bit like this. “Dude no way they can have a perfect season. I should take this bet. Yea, but maybe I should ask for points though? Wait can I even do that in a 2 game thing? Thinking why would I even bet this. Obv he knows more about football then me and no one else is jumping on this offer. Frank is in the know and on the board often. If he liked the deal he would have jumped on it. I'll wait for others."

So I waited and then Djinn posted this.

And, it's a sin for a sucker to keep his money. On the contrary, I AM looking for action. I already have two field bettors locked up at work, so I thought I'd throw it out to everyone I know. Can't hurt, I mean, if I've got two here, that means there are two elsewhere.

I also never said I would reject offers with odds if they were given to me. In order to make a field bet in Vegas vs. The Pats to win it all, it's like 5.5 to 1. There you go.

Okay so now I am thinking this is enough for people to jump on it. We got odds (not that I figured those out too much even with all the folks here trying to explain it), but I know they are good. Waiting.......still nothing? Wow how can that be? I mean what if I offer him odds that put it more into my favor? I mean he can say no then I lose nothing, but if he takes it then even if I lose at least I made a +EV play? Ahh fuk it I don't know enough and just am an action junkie.

Hence why it is so funny that you posted it.

You can do points over 2 games, you just combine the scores of the 2 games.

In order for me to think of this a wager I would think about making, I would be needing 26 points in 2 games.

The spread for the Chargers is already 13.5. This means I would want 13 for the SB. Combine the games 2 scores, and if the Patriots outscored their opponents by more than 26 in these 2 games, then I would think about hopping on it.

Honestly, making a straight up bet against a team that has beaten the best of the best already, is stupid. It would take something major for them to lose at this point, i.e Brady getting injured. And knowing this, I would allow the person to retract said wager if Brady got hurt and knocked out of the entire game in either game.

Not sure why everyone doesnt want to watch this happen. 'NO DONT LET THEM WIN IT ALL!!!"

I say HELL YEA! I want to watch history. Those of you that dont are pretty dumb IMO. Would you want to pass up the opportunity to watch Barry Sanders run? or Michael Jordan play? THIS IS HISTORY FOLKS! and prolly wont happen again in our lifetime and maybe others to come. Watch it! Enjoy it! and when you are older, you can TELL IT! be that old guy that can bring up Marciano in any boxing discussion. or Ali, or the Bill Russel domination factor when basketball is discussed.

I, for one, am rooting for the Patriots, not because I like them, but because I want to be witness to greatness. This is the greatest feat in FOOTBALL HISTORY, and you dont want to see it? Makes me question your fanhood of the game.

I know I am rooting for it, and have been since they were like 13-0 ...

First off, let me say that I also believe that the patriots are going to take it all this year. I don't think that this weeks game vs. San Diego will be a blowout though.

Last week if you told me that LT and Rivers would both get knocked out of the game in Indy without a monstrous lead and the Chargers would win, I would have laughed. But Indy folded in the game by failing to score several times in the Red Zone and the stout defense from last years playoffs and this years regular season failed to stop Billy Volek and Michael Turner.

This team has shown great resilency all season and can't be counted out. I think they have a punchers chance, even if Brady or Moss stay healthy all game.

The pressure is all on New England, since San Diego shouldn't have even made it this far. The Chargers will blitz the hell out of Brady (2nd most Blitzing team in football this year), as opposed to rushing 3 or 4 linemen all game like the Jags mistakenly did. But nevertheless the Pats have too many weapons and manage to win another close one, Pats-31, Bolts-27.

Paul - on your wager proposal........No.

Frank - being a history buff is not a pre-requisite of being a fan of football. No matter what the outcome or the matchup, it will be a helluva story. We all know that. Personally though, I would be more interested in the game itself. I mean, I'm not watching it because of history books, I'm watching it because of the beer in my hand, the wings in my mouth while two of the best in the League this year duke it out for the Trohy.

You can question my fanhood all you want, but if it's a 31-3 affair at halftime, I'm going to watch the halftime commercials and then turn it off in favor of some Wii.

Paul - I tell you what. If you really feel your proposed bet is fair, then you wouldn't mind reversing it and I'll take the field and you take the Patriots at 10-1. You put up $1000, to my $100. I'm game if you are.

The problem, Paul, is that there isn't a soul in Vegas who would take that bet. Why should I? The other problem is, I trust 2 people when it comes to money (and one of them is me). Don't take it personally, but you are not the other person. In order for this bet to go down, I would want to see cash and a third party holding it. Whatever kind of bet we may do, this would be necessary.

Now. Because of the whole chicken comment, I'll give you 3-1, I'll take the Pats, you take the field, no points, Minimum $100 bet. Hows that taste?

XXX_Striker - I'll admit that SD has a great D, and they are healthier than they were in week 2 when New England pummeled them. But there are a couple problems with Blitzing Brady - one, the Pat's o-line are excellent at protecting him. Since Maroney does shit for them anyway, chances are he's going to be helping the line by picking up the blitzer. Secondly, Randy Moss will see a ton of double coverage. Which means, if they bring another pass rusher, SOMEONE will be open and Brady will find them.

Yeah, I like Merriman a lot, but I think NE is going to put it on them.

Ummm...I never questioned your fanhood, and never said you had to be a history buff in order to appreciate what is happening. If you took what I said as being directed at you, I think you either 1.) misunderstood what I said or 2.) need some counseling on your self esteem issues. But I am not going to go into it again.

So please continue to ASSUME that everything written on here is directed at you, and I will continue to shake my head in disbelief on how you could even start to derive that my comment was in fact towards you.

EDIT: Oh, and Paul, that is the STUPIDEST wager proposal I have ever seen, and then to call the guy denying it a chicken for turning it down? What Djinn offered is pretty straight up. Some people still don't believe the Patriots will win, like you, or either don't want them to win SO BAD they will put money on it. I learned a loooooonnnggg time ago do not bet with emotions, it will lose you money. What you offered is absolutely retarded, but I guess I should check the source eh? :P

I'm ready to see history be made. When if ever was there a perfect season? How long do you think it will take to tie this record? I mean because you really can't break a perfect season record all you can do is tie it.

You may be able to break it if the league ever expands and/or adds the 17th game that has been rumored. Then a perfect season with a Super Bowl win would be 20-0.

Even then your not breaking the perfect season record you are breaking the "most games won" type thing.

Don't get me wrong I understand exactly what you are saying and they would have went 20-0 Vs the pats doing it this year and going 19-0, but they both will have had a perfect season, and when it happens they will say "no one has done that since the Pats in 2008 when they went 19-0". So even though they will have won one extra game they will still be sharing the glory of perfect season with Pats type thing

In that case, the Dolphins in 1972 have the first perfect season in NFL history.
