Thats what I was wondering. Were they the only ones to ever do that before? How long was their season? |

The Bears did it in once the 30's and once in the 40's, but only regular season. They lost championship games in both seasons. The Dolphins were the first to have the perfect season throughout the championship. And the NFL as we know it, was not around until the 60's. |

Frank - gear down dude. You had said quote: "I say HELL YEA! I want to watch history. Those of you that dont are pretty dumb IMO. THIS IS HISTORY FOLKS! This is the greatest feat in FOOTBALL HISTORY, and you dont want to see it? Makes me question your fanhood of the game." and then you say.... "Ummm...I never questioned your fanhood, and never said you had to be a history buff in order to appreciate what is happening." Juuuust a slight contradiction there. And yes, although this might not have been directed specifically at me. But all the same, it was directed at SOMEONE on this public board. And since you weren't completely specific as to who you were targeting with your comment, it's a safe assumption you were just putting it out there for everyone. I simply picked up the rope, and chimed in and offered my own opinion, which happens to differ with yours. Plain and simple. No need for insults about someone's self esteem and shit. |

Umm...how is this a contradiction? Where in this thread have you said you didnt want the patriots to win it? Anywhere? so how would I know you didnt want them to win it? so if i didnt know your feelings about their run, how could you deduce that i was directing my comments to you? So again, I dont need to gear down, you need to reflect on the whole context of someones statement and discussion at hand before jumping to conclusions. the actual statment i made was directed at people that make statements like Paul did. something along the course of "OMG PLEASE DONT LET THEM WIN ITT!!!""" i hear people say that all day, and i ask myself why? Paul is a bronco fan. Broncos are out. so why root against a history making event? Yea, i could see the reasoning of people saying "I hope that space shuttle blows up because I dont want to see history in the making." (a bit extreme, but a similar analogy on a different level.) Patriots winning it all only hurts those that bet against them, and the fans of those teams still in it. otherwise, people are ignorant to what is actually happenning. And nowhere did i reference watching every single Patriots game in its entirety didnt make you fan of the sport. I only said that not wanting to be witness to history of a sport you so-called love, then I would question your fanhood. You have no other motive to not want this to happen other than being a hater. EDIT: wanted to fix this, but not change it. You dont necessarily have to WANT this to happen, but to not want it is questionable without outside motives, i.e. money or allegiance to a team. and being a history buff has nothing to do with my statement. I simply said why not be that old guy 30 years from now that tells the younger generation about that crazy good Patriots team that went 19-0? what does this have to do with being a history buff? So again, i ask you...where do you see my statement being directed at you? |

Frank - I NEVER SAID THAT IT WAS DIRECTED AT ME. I ADMITTED THAT. I think you are assuming that I thought your comments were a jab at me specifically. I make no such claim. I BELIEVE YOU that this wasn't intended for me specifically. But REGARDLESS of who it was intended for I have every right to respond with my own opinion on the matter (which I did). In your blast, you had emphasized history and a "why not" point of view for rooting for the Pats. You said, your words - "I want to watch history. Those of you that dont are pretty dumb IMO." Gee thanks. I'm sure alot of people who aren't history buffs or who could give a shit less about the history books really appreciate that. I would agree that there are those that do not want to see the Patriots win. There are haters out there for sure. But there are also those folks, like me, who aren't haters, but instinctively root for the underdog. In this case, whoever the Pats play are definite underdogs. Regardless of which type of person Paul is, I think lumping all the people who don't want to see the pats win under the "hater" or "wager" flag isn't right. Personally, I don't really care who wins or loses. The underdog spirit will have me rooting for the NFC team, but I also have some money riding on the Pats. But if I lose, I really win because the game will be a great underdog story. A David and Goliath kind of thing. I care more about watching a strong game from both sides. I care more about watching good football. The Patriots have my respect, as do the remaining teams left in the hunt. I'm watching for all those things, not because I hate any team or because of some history book. That's all I'm trying to say. Just my two cents. |
