So I watched Poker After Dark recently, and they had a very cool idea. They took an amateur (Ken Light) and allowed him to pick his "Dream Table" to play against in a 6 man winner take all tournament format. I imagine what happened, is that Ken won some sort of contest that allowed him this privelage, with an entry/expense paid by NBC. I also think that he hand picked the pros from a list of available pros to play against and those were his "favorites". So here's the thing, and I may have done this exercise before with y'all, but some of you may not have done it yet: Who would you pick to sit with to play in this format? Well, you could go two different directions here. You could play with pros who you think wouldn't be good at this format, maybe intentionally pair some folks who don't get along and would go on tilt, or hell, just pros that you personally think that you could beat in order to win. We'll call this dream table A. Or you could do what the program hyped - pick your "dream table" of pros that you look up to and think are the best in the world. We'll call this dream table B. (honestly, I would pick a dream table A before going with dream table B. Because honestly, for all intents and purposes----if they are THAT good, then you really wouldn't want to see them sitting across from you.) Remember these picks are for this particular format, which is 6-man NLHE tourney 1 winner. Here would be my Dream Table A: 1. Myself 2. Mike Mautsow 3. Jamie Gold 4. Scott Fischman 5. Dutch Boyd 6. Josh Arieh This table is rigged to explode. With the tension between Boyd and Fischman, and three pros that I feel I can personally best, this is the table I would pick to win the thing. Here would be my Dream Table B: 1. Myself 2. Doyle Brunson 3. Chris Ferguson 4. Phil Ivey 5. Jon Juanda 6. Phil Helmuth Jr. I could not beat this table. It's not that I wouldn't have the same confidence going into this tournament as I would have at any other tournament. I think I might be able to beat one or two of them on a full table even. But it's entirely too stacked with incredible tournament players. Doyle just *knows* what people have, it's unfair. PH's reading radar is completely unfair, despite what people think of him. Chris Ferguson is unreadable, period. Phil Ivey is scary aggressive and psychic to boot. And Jon Juanda is just too, too good. Just for kicks, if I were to play against my favorite players the following would be that table. The definition of "favorites" are the players that I find entertaining AND good. Guys that I wouldn't mind hanging out with outside of poker: 1. Myself 2. Phil Laak 3. Humberto Brenes 4. Sam Farha 5. Antonio Esfandiari 6. Daniel Negreanu This table would be a riot. Win or lose, I would have a blast with these guys. Give it a shot yourself! |

Where did this poison come from? Is it hypocritical to have confidence in one's self and at the same time admit that I am outmatched by more experience and talent? Then again, it's hard to determine whether you're being serious or just busting my balls. DJINN |

Paul told me about this post, he was more fucking with you than being serious. I know, hard to read that in from text, and especially with his 3rd grade grammar.
