No-Limit Hold'em:

"Fearless and creative" is how much people describe Tom Dwan's playing style. But even durrrr can run into monster hands, and at that point fearlessness and creativity won't go very far. Dwan opened to 1,300 pre-flop from early position and was called by Shawn Buchanan in late position and both blinds. The flop was all diamonds, 3d8d4d . Action checked to Buchanan. His bet of 3,200 folded both of the blinds, but not Dwan. Dwan check-raised to 14,700. Buchanan called.

Both players checked the Qh turn. On the 7s river, Dwan tried a bet of 23,500. Buchanan snap-called with the second nut flush,KdQd . Dwan showed the Ac and mucked.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No-Limit Hold'em:

Tom Dwan is down a healthy chunk of his stack after tangling with the WSOP record-holder for most cashes in a single WSOP -- Nikolay Evdakov. There was a pre-flop raise that Evdakov called from the cutoff. Dwan, sitting in the big blind, then re-raised to 7,200. The original raiser folded but Evdakov called again.

Dwan led for 11,300 on a flop of Qs2c3d . Evdakov made a just-slightly-bigger-than-mini mum raise to 25,000. Dwan called.

Dwan check-called 30,000 on the Kh turn and another 25,000 on the 3c river. He couldn't beat Evdakov's top pair, AhKd . As a result Dwan's stack is down to 35,000 while Evdakov is up to 215,000.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

during pot-limit Omaha when Dwan checked a flop of Ah 9c 4c along with Daniel Negreanu and Shawn Buchanan, and then the Js fell on the turn. Negreanu bet 5,000 and both Buchanan and Dwan made the call. The river brought the 10s and Negreanu and Buchanan each checked. Dwan bet 11,200 and Negreanu mucked. Buchanan made the call and flipped over Qd Jc 10h 8s to win the hand. Dwan was left with less than 20,000 after that and he busted a short time later(115th out of 116).

OK, I thought about not commenting on this, but I can't help myself...Frank's 15? You just didn't have the time/money to play...but what is with the side bets and Frank's 15?

BTW----Mark, I think it's awesome that you're doing these updates. Very fun, and if you continue to do these, I'm in infinite.

I did the same updates the last time we did this draft, the problem that will be with this one is last time i was able to access the pokersites at work, since then they have blocked them so most updates won't be updated till early morning when im home, unless i pull a double at work in which case on those days then it will be around 4 pm.

At the time of the draft I was not in a position where I would want to commit $25 to something like this. Since then, things have changed...for the better (wife is back to 40 hours mainly), and I am in a better position to take side bets.

Daniel Negreanu busted
Down to 8500. Razz hand. Had 86 and Eli needed to catch an Ace 3 or a 4 to beat me. He caught a 4. I'm running really terrible. 9 minutes ago

RealKidPoker I'm out. Stud hand Eli raised in last position with. Q I was bring in with 22J needed a 2 on river. Sweated the card it was 2 or 3. 3 brutal

Also
David Chiu busted

and

Raymer Fossilized

After a day where he couldn't build much momentum, Greg Raymer was eliminated by Ted Forrest. He has yet to stand up from the table, however and continues to chat with Amnon Filippi while the rest of the table continues their tournament.

Todd Brunson = Busto

Todd Brunson got his short stack in before the flop with but unfortunately ran smack into Roman Yitzhaki's . Yitzhaki flopped a set and rivered a boat, sending Brunson to the rail.

Carlos Mortensen met his tournament end on a Razz hand against Brett Richey. Mortensen's draw did not come in and Brett Richey's T-8 ended up taking down the pot.

Stud 8/b:

Jason Mercier (busted)predicted a "heater" earlier after he slipped below 50,000 chips. The heater never came. He was all in on third street against Eugene Katchalov. Mercier's split fours with a jack were in bad shape against Katchalov's split queens with a ten. Mercier never improved his hand and didn't make a low draw. He shook a few hands, picked up his bag and left the tournament floor.

In the space of two hands, Mike Matusow(Busted) went from in the tournament to on the rail. In the first hand, Morrison started with split 8s against Matusow's three diamonds. Matusow had a flush in five, but Morrison filled up on sixth street to put a big hurt on the Mouth and cripple him to 17,500.

The very next hand, Matusow got all in on third street with three spades. Although he made aces and fours by the river, George Lind had already made a flush on sixth street. That was all she wrote for Matusow.

Chad Brown-Busted
Vitaly Lunkin-Busted
Huck Seed(Busted) is stuck going to bed early.
Hoyt Corkins Eliminated

Stud Hi/Lo:

At a different table, Chau Giang(Busted) was all in on third street with / . Tuan Le started / and promptly caught a third king on fourth street. Giang picked up a low draw by fifth street but it never filled. As a result he's out of the tournament.

Michael Binger is busto after losing the last of his short stack to Erik Seidel in a Stud 8/b hand. Binger calmly paid his favorite masseuse and took his leave. Maybe he should have taken his brother Nick's idea. Both won satellites to this event on Thursday, but Nick kept his lammers to cover most of his events for the rest of the Series.

barrygreenstein -busted Just went broke in razz in #wsop2. Started with 763, but paired twice and hit a facecard. T0.

Razz:

Sorel Mizzi came into today with a back-up plan. With only a 36,000-chip stack in the $50K, Mizzi decided to register for Day 1B of Event #3, $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em. He built up an 8,000 stack over in the Pavillion before heading down the hall to take care of business here in the Amazon Room.

Mizzi met his end on a Razz hand, putting his last chips in on third street against Doyle Brunson. Brunson made a T-6-3-2-A low, besting Mizzi's J-9-7-4-A.

"Go play hold'em," Lyle Berman said as Mizzi made his exit.
