hold up hold up, I never said I would "agree" with Randy. I just simpy said everyones tastebuds are different to make argments about it Die. I want like hell to try this place for sure. My taste buds are def more in line with Franks, I dont think I have ever had something Frank has said he liked and not liked it myself. For the record I do NOT have an opinion of gates because I was not fortunate enough to try it out myself. Maybe for GP Kansas that will change =p

ROFL! Thought that might ruffle your feathers. :P

This place was pretty good. I stay away from the "pork" because it reminds me of a smoked lunch meat ham. The beef brisket-esque was the bomb and the spareribs are pretty good and well seasoned. The sauces are really good.

Baked Beans are delicious. Yammers pie---delicious. Fries are even pretty good, but maybe that was because I was dipping them in the BBQ sauce. I had 1 bite of the sausage, and it was superb! Napper couldn't keep Brian's sausage out of his mouth...of course that is another story. :P

The Onion Rings that Randy got and said were amazing..were just that, amazing.

In fact, I would like to hear the adjectives Randy uses for a place he REALLY likes, because for a 6/10, Gates sure received a lot of "best I ever had" and "amazing"s from Randy. :P

I have thought about it time and time again. I would first need to actually write down my recipes in order to duplicate them as close as possible. Thing is, my BBQ changes every time I make it.

I have my mustard sauce down now, can reproduce that on cue...and that shit was pretty dang good if I do say so myself. I need some practice on the smoker again, and that will come this year.

I would need to put a menu together, figure cost to run the business in order to put that together. Figure sides, which I could make my beans and twice baked potatoes for as well, and maybe Paul's coleslaw.

Trust me guys, I have thought about it, never really put too much into it, because it seems like a pipe dream..but I guess if there are no other "good" BBQ shacks in Colorado, maybe it isn't a pipe dream.

I try new things every time, the real issue would be finding the right combination for sauce and seasonings to be right where I like it and recording it for reproduction. Lots of time and effort into that shit.

Then I would need to teach others, because hell if I am working 7 days a week. LOL!

I have some numbers and what not put together because of my recent dealings with trying to get the catering thing going. If your interested I would be happy to share some numbers with you and show you some of the research I have done on the "buisness" side of things if your seriously interested at anypoint let me know!

All I'm going to say is that there definitely seems to be a demand in a state that has little to no supply.

I did love the beans! But I'm SO going to get some barbecue from my favorite two places, and if you can promise you'll grade them fairly, I'd say worst rating you'll give is a 7. And I'm big on texture too.... the texture and lack of robustness to the sauce is what got me. Honestly, I don't like barbecue that much, but that place was good and got a 6 instead of 4. :) And I have weird taste buds according to Dave anyway.
The onion rings are great, that's not barbecue though. And to be fair, I liked the pulled pork a lot. I used a little hyperbole to not take any flack from anyone there, but it doesn't mean it was bad. It was really good, like I said. I've had much much better. I grew up in Kansas though, so maybe that has something to do with my taste in Barbecue. Usually, people like things that are different.
I still stand by the mexican food.
As a Ninja, the smallest container I can fit into would be maybe a tic tac container.
