IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR ...But it probably won't be happening here. Discord is bae now. Yeah, E3 is upon us once again. You all know what that means: Press conferences from the big 3, EA, Ubi, and anyone else who feels the need to pretend they're a BIG SHOT by having a presser. There will be mockery, because there always is mockery. Maybe if the presentations didn't SUCK, we wouldn't mock. There will be hype, because as much as we take the piss out of the pressers, most of them usually have at least one moment that gets (most of) us excited. There may or may not be vodka. I don't know. Well, there will be vodka during EA because EA is EA and has usually meh to turrible pressers. That and I'm drinking that day anyway. But for the REST, there may or may not be vodka. Let's get on with this shit. You know how this goes by now: What do you hope/want to see? The schedule: http://www.ign.com/wikis/e3/E3_2017_Live_Streams_and_Press_Conferences My list o' hopes: -SNES MINI -The Elder Scrolls VI. Will always be a hope until revealed. Even the name and a very vague release window would make me so hard the Mohs scale has to be rewritten. -Xenoblade 2, released in America this year. Nintendo has been saying "2017", but for all I know, that's for Japan. I also expect gameplay. -Seiken Densetsu collection localized. I'll straight up import this shit if it isn't, but I'd rather play SD3 in English if at all possible. -Nintendo does something proper with Metroid. (So we're getting Federation Force 2) -We learn what this new SMT for Switch is. Bonus points if it's TMS 2 because the salty tears from SMT fanboys would drown the internet. -We find out what Retro has been up to. -That FE Warriors having only chars from Shadow Dragon/Awakening/Fates was a lie. Are you fucking SHITTING me? I get why those games would be the focus, but no Ike (who is basically the face of the series), no Roy (Roy's our boy), and no Lyn at the very least is taking the piss. It's basically saying, "fuck older fans, you'll buy the DLC". And Ninty will probably be right. But still, fuck that. -Would prefer Pokemon Star(?) to another remade gen. Unless it's gen 1, because gen 1 is in need of the update more than any other gen. Would also prefer a Switch version; the 3DS shows its age when you play gens 6/7. -Some sort of cool collector's edition of the Switch. Would prefer it to release in July. -That RDR 2 looks incredible/comes to PC. I expect it to be shown this year. I'm convinced it wasn't shown last year because of the Pulse shooting. -A Civ VI expansion. I like the base game well enough, but it has its flaws, especially in the diplomacy department. Holy HELL is diplomacy in this game awful. -EA shows more than one fucking artsy indie game. Same could be said for everyone except Devolver Digital, but EA is notorious for this in my mind, and fuck EA. -Bethesda shows anything worth my time, for that matter. -Ubi doesn't show something vaguely racist. -The PC Gaming Show is actually *good*, for once. Last year was barely tolerable. I started zoning out during that one. -SNES MINI In the department of pipe dreams: Microsoft revives Scalebound. Hell, *someone* does. So basically I hope Nintendo kills it and I'm indifferent to everyone else. Same as it ever was. See you Saturday, assholes. |

I pretty much exclusively care about Nintendo at this point. Only thing I'd really like to see from Sony are some JRPG's announced and a new Ape Escape game that isn't some throwaway title. Former could easily happen but I won't hold my breath for Ape Escape. Main hopes for Nintendo's conference is to keep stuff we've already seen a good deal to a minimum (namely Arms and Splatoon 2) as well as mobile stuff. The dream scenario is for most of the presentation to be used towards new stuff we haven't seen before. I fully expect one or two more "deluxe" additions of some recent big Nintendo games (Smash 4 and Sun/Moon being the most rumored/speculated), but I hope to see some genuinely new stuff and plenty of it. Xenoblade 2 actually being confirmed for 2017 would be awesome but I really don't see this happening. Would also be nice to see more of it along with maybe some footage of Fire Emblem 2018 and the new SMT game, as far as games already announced that we haven't seen much of (if anything) go. I'd also like to see them keep 3DS to an absolute minimum. I don't expect to see much of anything for 3DS, but the Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga remake is rumored enough that I fully expect to see it in some form (hopefully it's something they break out at the Treehouse stuff after the presentations). |

EA: Battlefront II actually being good. I'm interested in how the single player campaign looks, I'll get it if I'm impressed enough. Ubisoft: Not fucking up the politics in Far Cry 5. The new Assassin's Creed being a significant improvement, taking advantage of that year off. Microsoft: The revival of Phantom Dust and/or Scalebound. Crackdown 3 being good. A reboot of Crimson Skies (not likely, but I can hope). Halo 6 not being dumb. Banjo-Threeie. Sony: idklol Nintendo: New proper Metroid. Pokemon Star on Switch. Bayonetta 3. New F-Zero/S&P/Animal Crossing/Fire Emblem on Switch. Mother 3. Xenoblade 2 in 2017. Virtual Console. Full fall and holiday lineup. Minimal 3DS presence. Other: Kingdom Hearts 3 release date. FFVII remake release date. Solid look at Sonic Forces. Surprise RTS from literally any developer. |

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if it's a 2017 game at all. JRPGs have a way of getting delayed for any and every reason under the sun. Not that I mind delays of course; I'd rather have a good game from the get-go. Wouldn't be too surprised to see some gameplay, even if it's not an extended play session like the games featured on the Treehouse stream. If it's a 2017 game, it has to be in a playable state (hell, probably almost finished lol), and if it's a 2018 game, there has to be some sort of gameplay to show, even if only as part of a trailer. Things I forgot: -Mother 3. Obviously. -PC port of FFXV. This feels inevitable; might as well announce it on the biggest stage. Maybe monster rigs will be able to get 30 FPS! -New Platinum project. Do we even know what this is? -Virtual Console. Kinda forgot about this in the wake of Nintendflix, but I would still like to own my favorite games. Nintendo is likely going to shut this service down when the next console comes out. But even if we get VC, it does nobody any good if we get maybe one game a week until the end of time. -I'd like to know more about Nintendo's mobile offerings. We have Animal Crossing and we still know nothing about it. Can't see it being another gacha game, but I know sweet fuck all about the series so maybe it's possible. But beyond that, Nintendo still has quite a few IPs they can bring to mobile. I'd be very surprised if we don't see a Zelda title in some way, shape, or form because it's fucking Zelda. -Third party Switch support. Seems the system is getting third party support so far, but keeping it has been Nintendo's biggest problem since, what, Gamecube? Not sure Switch will get versions of the western AAA offerings, but I don't think it needs those games. Switch can and should fill the niche that Vita does, being a portable system that can play all your weeb shit, in addition to being a party machine for the more socially inclined amongst us. -Re-release the good shit on Wii U for Switch. Xenoblade Chronicles X would fill the void for people who want a big open world RPG (until Skyrim, if you somehow fucking missed that until Switch or just want portable Skyrim), and it's a damn fun game even if it doesn't live up to its predecessor. Tokyo Mirage Sessions got Last Story'd, in that it was released in the dying days of the Wii U. It's a good game that deserves a bigger audience. Bayonetta 2 should go to PC because the first one just did, but I'd settle for it on Switch. Don't have strong feelings about the rest of the stuff. It's *good*, but not to the point where I'd re-buy it on Switch. I would re-buy these games (and of course MK8, but Switch has that now). -Minimal 3DS presence, for all the usual reasons. -And another pipe dream, announcing the next Nier game. 1.5 million is probably more than Squeenix was anticipating for Automata, and the critical reception was great, so... I expect another Nier. Just not any time soon. I'd be surprised if we get that announcement next year, even. I JUST WANNA BE HYPE ;_; I expect any and all political/social statements to be fucked up, or charitably, to be teeny tiny steps. This is *video games*, y'all. If they do well, it's a pleasant surprise. Edited by Romanticide, Jun 5 2017, 02:24 AM.

Final E3 thoughts because I can. EA: Easily the worst conference of the bunch. I thought it was close, but thinking back on it, it's in its own category of bad. I missed the first twenty minutes, which sounds like it was no huge loss with FIFA and BF1 DLC. I don't care about that stuff, and I don't think most of us care about it either. The first game I saw was NFS, which is pretty much a poor man's Fast and the Furious. It looked just like a trailer for a new entry in that series. Sure, it looked impressive, but given the choice between NFS and Fast and the Furious, I'm taking the latter every time. I think I'd get tired of NFS in about the run time of a movie, anyway. No Way Out looked like Prison Break: The Game, which is cool if you're into that? I dunno, I'd rather see things involving prison say something about prisons. They're pretty fucked up in this country y'know, and the most marginalized amongst us get imprisoned disproportionally. Using white guys as protagonists conveniently means the developers don't need to make any sociopolitical statements. Which is their right as creators, yeah, but I find it thoughtless to use such a dysfunctional setting and have nothing to say on the topic. Course, maybe the game *does* have something to say on this topic. Not like that's going to be shown at E3, which as we all know is about the HYPE and not supr srs messages. Can't say I care about a game that *requires* co-op to play, even if it's infinitely less likely I'd be called stupid names by 12 year old kids. A big reason this was the worst conference is that this was easily the most cringeworthy conference. Whoever that Jesse Wellens or whatever was, he was physically painful to watch. I don't care in the least about "YouTube creators" or whatever the fuck they're calling themselves, which doesn't help matters. Even so, he seemed pretty uncomfortable on the stage. I can't profess to have any idea why or even if he was, but I'm getting the impression that YouTube personalities maybe aren't the best fit for E3. Between him and Day9, who sucks every year (but isn't helped by a terrible show), I'm starting to wonder. The No Way Out developer screaming about how pumped he was for his own game on-stage was groan-inducing too. I get a person is going to be excited for their game. I expect to hear a bit of excitement in whatever someone has to say. However, there's a fine line between being excited for your game and going into Howard Dean scream territory. This guy didn't just cross it, he put on a pair of wings and flew right over it. I really can't oversell how bad this moment of the show was. If not for the e-sports "announcer" during Microsoft's conference, this would be the worst moment of the show and it wouldn't even be close. Also when I hear "thirty minutes of unadulterated Star Wars", I expect just that. I don't expect a deep dive into the game's development, I don't expect talking with some pros whose existence I don't care about, etc, etc. I expect gameplay. I closed out during this shit, but I imagine EA eventually got there. Fucking fuck. Show some gameplay first and maybe we'll be receptive to that shit, then close out with something awesome to get the audience ripshit excited. This isn't hard. Something something Anthem. I liked the game's look but everything I saw of the game makes me feel "meeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhh". If this is just Bioware's/EA's answer to Destiny, it can sod off. If it has a singleplayer mode worth a damn, I might be interested. Might. Microsoft: A decent conference, filled with some high highs and some equally low lows. Highs first I guess. Tacoma was the first game that got me truly hyped about this show. Sure, almost nothing was shown. If you're excited for this game, you almost certainly played Gone Home, because the marketing for this game so far has been "MADE BY THE DEVS BEHIND GONE HOME". We've gotten maybe 5 minutes of footage for a game coming out on 8/2, but it's hard to show this type of game off without spoiling *something*, and finding out what happened in this game's world for yourself is the entire experience. I didn't need to hear anything beyond "Life is Strange" to know I'm getting Beyond the Storm, but an 8/31 release date for the first ep is nice. Seems this is focusing on the relationship between Chloe and Rachel, which IMO is much-needed. There's a certain part in LiS that didn't resonate with me like it should have, because this vital context was missing. Not sure I'm a fan of the episode involving Max being locked to the Deluxe edition, but I'm buying it anyway, so I guess the strategy worked. And of course we have the new Ori game, Ori and the Will of Wisps. All we got was a trailer and a guy playing some music from... the first game? This one? I dunno, but it's Ori music so it's gorgeous and it has me hyped for new Ori, so it did its job. A new DBZ fighter is always worthy of a mention in my book, and it really helps that this one looks just like the show but polished to an absurd level. I mean really. It's awesome. I like the Xenoverse artstyle, but this is the sort of thing I see and think "this is DBZ". Probably won't buy it at $60 though; I don't think any fighter exists that would justify the money. Not sure even Smash is on that level anymore, but more so because I don't play enough. Cuphead still exists and I'll get it at some point. Scorpio looks great and all, and the specs make it sound like TRUE 4K is actually going to be possible on this device (12 GB of GDD5/6 teraflops is some seriously powerful stuff), but I'm surprised it's only $500. Microsoft will be eating huge losses, probably at least $300 per unit, but they should make up for that with games. People who want a 4K machine are going to want a lot of games for the device. That aside, Forza, Metro: Exodus, and Assassin's Creed: Origins were all beautiful games. This is the first E3 that I feel justifies a new gen of consoles because these graphics are so much better than anything that was on 7th gen consoles. They're finally up to/near PC standards, assuming MS wasn't lying about running games on Scorpio. (Don't see why they would, but it's video games. I'm cynical.) The lows. Oh boy, the lows. I guess I'll start out with cringeworthy "announcer" announcing some MOBA or multiplayer game or whatever it was. I don't even know what that was supposed to be advertising because the over-the-top/fake announcing just made me go NOPENOPENOPE. What is so hard about just showing your shit and letting the audience determine if it's worth being enthusiastic about? I guess this is why I'm just an asshole pounding a keyboard and not a salesperson/advertiser making the BIG BUCKS. State of Decay 2 sucked shit, but that might just be my strong anti-zombie bias speaking. I don't think any trope has been more overplayed than zombies this decade. Combine that with yet another fucking post-apocalyptic world and zzzzzzzzz. This is the sort of stuff gaming needs less of, not more. But I guess it sells, so we'll keep seeing it. Sea of Thieves still looks bad. I dunno, I don't want a light-hearted pirate game because pirates are fucking badass. I don't want something grimdark either because lolno; I want something that treats pirates like the badasses they are without veering into edgelord territory. Probably doesn't help I really hated last year's presentation of this game. Still the worst part of that entire E3, I think. For the most part, Microsoft showed off a lot of games. I wasn't interested in all, or even most of them, but they let the games do the talking for the most part. I'm pretty okay with their conference; I got three things I really wanted out of it and most of the rest was alright. Bethesda: No TES VI. Get fucked. I love Skyrim as much as the next motherfucker and probably more than most. HOWEVER, it's time to give that game its long-deserved rest. At least the Switch version brings portability and motion controls, which are novel for the series and many open world RPGs in general. All Wii/U ever really got on that front were the Xenoblade games lol. I don't see why Skyrim VR needs to exist, though. Would it be cool to feel immersed in that world? Sure. But after 10 minutes I'd probably quit and turn on my modified version of the game, which looks and probably runs way better too. The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein are the only things that justified this conference's existence. The Evil Within 2 looked crazy as fuck. I don't even know how to describe that madness, but what I do know is I'm suddenly interested in that game, even if the first one looked about as appealing to me as a jar of pickles. Wolfenstein, well, shooting Nazis is suddenly very topical. That aside, it looked like a cool game and it seems to have at least one New Orleans part, so I'm totally on-board for this insanity. I even picked up the first one for $8, and I can't wait to shoot some motherfucking Nazis in their skulls. Whenever I get around to it, because it's not at the top of my list of gaming things to do. If I cared about Dishonored, the standalone expansion mite b cool too. But I haven't played 1 or 2 yet, so... But for the most part this was bad. The Bethesda theme park was lame, don't care about Doom VFR or VR in general, lol Scrolls, Morrowind sells itself why the FUCK were there reaction clips at a fucking E3 press conference, and lol no gameplay of Quake even though it's apparently coming out soon. I almost forgot the stupid as hell starting time of 11 PM CST. No conference should be so late that it ensures working people in the Midwest/east coast won't be able to watch it. Probably too early for a lot of Eurofriends too because that's like 5 am. Fuck outta here, Bethesda. You suck. Devolver Digital/Pre-Pre Show: This was on its own plane of existence. Comparing it to the pleb shit that was the rest of the conference (except Nintendo) is an insult to the gloriousness that was DD/the Pre-Pre Show. There's so much about E3 that's ripe for mockery, and the absolute madmen (and women) at Devolver Digital went right ahead and took the piss out of it. It was incredible. The Pre-Pre Show was basically what would happen if you gave a Twitch stream to Weird Twitter for ten hours, and... Well, you would have to see it for yourself. It's insanity. I need to finish watching this sometime lol. The TRUE winners of E3. PC Gaming Show: If EA didn't exist to be the worst, this would have easily been the worst, as usual. Where do I *start*? Probably with Mr. Gamergate himself, Tim Soret of The Last Night fame. In case you missed it, and I envy you, the asshole's Twitter feed was full of stuff that supported the aims of Gamergate. The most recent pro-GG-ish tweet that was found was April 2017. The guy tried apologizing, to his credit, and it wasn't the worst apology I've heard even this month, but it falls flat when shit from April exists on your feed/existed at all. I find it very hard to believe the guy transformed from a staunch pro-GG developer to woke, feminist developer. I get that it would probably be hard for the PC Gaming Show to fill the minute or two that would have been erased by uninviting the guy, but whatever. It could have been done. It should have been done. It's the right thing to do. Gamergate does not deserve to be handed a platform by the very industry it's harassing and threatening people in, even if said people are working within the industry. Make your own fucking platforms, GGers. We don't want you on ours. It's a shame though because this could very well be a good game. It certainly looks beautiful. As usual, it was mostly games I don't care about. Killing Floor 2 is just a smorgasboard of gore, Echo Arena was literally Blitzball: The Game, which we all know is the worst part of FFX, and the rest were just... kinda there. Ylands looked alright even if it's not my thing. Ooblies is still adorbs and I'll probably get it some year. Tunic came out of nowhere for me, but a coot game with a coot fox is always appreciated. Wargroove is pretty much FE: the PC Edition, with features like a map editor (awesome) and online multiplayer (PLEASE let it be true PvP). If that's any good at all, I'll certainly buy it lol. Age of Empires was the biggest reveal that this show has ever had, I think. Underwhelming to me because I haven't played it, but to the right people, that's pretty big. The Intel guy fucking suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. You can tell he doesn't go on stage regularly. His delivery was completely monotone, his jokes didn't land, he wasn't saying anything interesting, and LOL @ the streaming dipshit trying to imply the fucking *i9* line is good for gamers. You still don't need an i7 to build a great gaming PC! There's NO FUCKING WAY you need a processor even more powerful and expensive than an i7 if all you're going to do is game, watch media, and surf the tubes! I bashed my head against my concrete wall, in an effort to cave it in so I wouldn't have to suffer any more of the PC Gaming Show or E3 in general. As I said in the EA section, I'm not sure that Day9 is a good host, but I'm also not sure *anyone* would be a good host. This show has no reason to exist. It adds nothing. Its content has been terrible all three years, even if it's improved a fair bit from 2015 (which was irredeemable) and 2016 (which was just plain bad). No host can save a show that has no compelling content, no matter how talented they are. Anything that's good/A Big Deal is going to be shown on the main stages, unless it's PC exclusive like Civ or something, and this shitass show couldn't even get us a look at Civ VI last year. You know, one of PC gaming's most stalwart franchises. Fuck the PC Gaming Show, is what I'm trying to say. Ubisoft: This... was actually good. I'm still in shock. Mario x Rabbids looks like a legit strategy game. I expected to hate it because Rabbids are some of the ugliest things humanity has ever designed. Those faces look like someone hit them with a mallet. That aside, the game looks really good, like Mario Emblem or Mario XCOM, take your pick. Utilizing Mario mechanics like pipes and bouncing are neat touches. It seems like it'll be a fairly deep strategy RPG and I can't wait to play it. But I'll have to wait; the second Utawarerumono game takes precedence. What can I say, niche weeb games that I'm surprised even got localized need my support more than efforts by major publishers like Ubi and Ninty. I also need to see the end of the story damnit. Life is Strange also drops that same week. Someone give me money. ;_; Skull and Bones is more in line with what I expect of a pirate game. Shit looked awesome. I don't think I'll commit to buying it any time soon, but what we saw was... Promising. I just hope that what we see of it in the next year is just as good/better. I'd love a good pirate game; it's a criminally underused theme in video games. This is about the point where someone goes "Ro maybe you should buy AC4". I'm still not sold on FC5's politics, but it seems like the game might be a bit more incisive than I'd have thought. Seeing things like RESIST and the black woman (who is already bae) calling the cultists bigots was more than I expected, really. I just expected the game to be about taking down obvious nutcases and having nothing to say about the sociopolitical conditions that led to the birth of such nutcases. Not sure that's the scariest thing about the environment we live in, but a video game examining how the average person can seem so rational and sane until the subject of politics comes up (at which point they turn into raving regressive lunatics) would not be the most fun of video games. It certainly wouldn't be an open world shooter lol. It's a needed political statement and it might even provide some degree of catharsis for us dirty liberal commies, but it's probably not going to be a statement that changes anyone's mind, either. Beyond Good and Evil 2 exists! The trailer was amazing. I might just be a sucker for space and futuristic shit, but hot damn that was breathtaking. It was also kind of funny; the "bang bang motherfucker" part got me to laugh. I'd like to see some gameplay of this, but it seems the game isn't very far into development at all. I'd expect to wait a year or two before we see anything more concrete from this one, sadly. But in the meantime it gives me plenty of time to put off the first game! Ubisoft didn't show a lot, but what they showed ranged from passable to great. Except for Just Dance of course, but we expect that and fuck Just Dance. Sony: When I could argue the best thing shown was in the pre-show stream, you have real problems. Undertale's physical version is cool and all, but what the fuck was this doing in the pre-show stream? At once, it would have given Sony an indie game and a Vita game to show on the main stage. Telling us that we can get physical collector's editions would have been the cherry on the cake. I like Undertale and all, but personally I don't know if I'm passionate enough to spend a lot on the collector's edition. Maybe if it's $60 or less, which is probably a pipe dream with all that it has. Did not like this one from the word "go". Starting off with commercials is never a good look. I do not care about Vue in an age where the cord-cutting choices are both better and more plentiful than they've ever been. I don't care about the Trump version of PS4 retailing for $250. A gold device looks gaudy as shit anyway; it doesn't look very cutting-edge to me. Too much focus on VR too, which is to say "any". Does anyone care about Playstation VR? Days Gone was yet another zombie game, because apparently we have a quota of more than one shitty zombie game per E3. The only thing about this one that might be cool is the zombie hoards, and I get the feeling this game will live or die depending on how they're received. I don't think this game is adding anything new to an already oversaturated genre. Y'all know I don't care about comics, so MvC and Spider-Man were eh to me. The only things I'd say I want from this conference are God of War, which still looks good. Looks more like a father-son journey than another story of seeking vengeance. Gaming needs more of these sorts of stories. IMO they'd be a perfect way to confront toxic masculinity. If you've paid *any* attention to this industry/hobby in the past three years, you know it's a problem, one that won't go away until men start examining it both in games and in themselves. I hope that Kratos comes to realize that maybe the hyper-masculine persona isn't always a good luck. I hate that shit outside of, like, Jojo, where it's complimented both by cunning and flamboyant looks/poses. Shadow of the Colossus is Shadow of the Colossus. I still need to experience that game, but if I had a PS4 I'd be adamant on getting the best experience possible, which should be PS4 if it's at all competently re-made lol. I'm not sold on Detroit: Beyond Human. It looks like a poor man's Deus Ex at this point. The thing with David Cage games is there is nothing there beyond the story, characters, and the choices, and it's hard to put that package into a compelling E3 trailer. I'd say that the 2016 trailer did a better job of it than the 2017 trailer; this was mostly about showing off the EMOTIONS - errr, polygons - in this game. I'll have to watch this one and hope the story and such is good, but as it is I'm ambivalent about its existence. Nintendo: I'm biased. Nintendo won lmao. Opening up with a new Xenoblade 2 trailer and confirming a holiday 2017 release date was enough to win E3. I don't need any more than that; the first Xenoblade is one of my favorite games ever. I'm buying this day one. Even though we (well, mostly Volty and I) gushed about waifu blade Pyra, there's still a lot to be enthused about here. The simplified UI looks great. The first game's UI was *usable* to me but I'd never call it great lol. Being able to switch between blades on the fly to access other arts sounds like a great addition to the system. The artstyle looks a lot like the first game but more graphically advanced because the Switch is light years ahead of the Wii. And lest I forget, CATGIRLS. Hopefully there are some good catgirl NPCs, because that one party member is just not cutting it. Odyssey looks like the fresh breath of air that Mario has been in need of for a long time now. I can't express how incredible this game looks. The graphics and artstyle are obviously wow, and the gameplay looks really good too. The cap mechanic has the potential to be tedious, but from what we saw during Treehouse, I don't think it will be. This game feels like it incorporates the best mechanics not just from past Mario games, but even from other Nintendo games. The whole wall thing that was lifted from A Link Between Worlds is the most obvious example. Nintendo is trying their damnedest to change the game, once again. We all need those Amiibos too; they have sooooo much swag. Bowser's is easily one of the best Amiibos in general. *adds to list along with Celica and Mega Yarn Yoshi* I always appreciate a new Yoshi, even if the last two efforts have been mediocre. I dunno, Yoshi's New Island wasn't all that good, and while Yarn Yoshi was a very charming game, it's not what I want out of Yoshi? But I guess a return to Yoshi's Island is out of the question; it's been 20+ years. Yoshi is gonna be one of the easier franchises in Nintendo's wheelhouse, and I suppose nothing is wrong with that. I'd just prefer a platformer like back in the day; this treasure hunt stuff isn't to my taste. Not one, but TWO Metroid games, and neither is Federation Force 2! *is promptly shot* Lame joke aside, Samus Returns looks decent. I don't know when I'll buy it, but I'll try to? Could go for more of that sort of thing in my life. Metroid Prime 4's reveal was just a logo, and I don't expect anything on that until next year's E3. Gives me plenty of time to play the Metroid Prime games. Arms looks a lot better than I thought. Seeing people play it changed my mind on that one. I still don't know if I'll get it though. I'd much rather have MK8 and Splatoon 2 for my multiplayer needs, and besides that there are already other games I want more on Switch, to say nothing of other systems. I'm not seeing a convenient time for me to pick up Arms, barring Ninty doing something un-Ninty-like and selling it for $20/30 in an effort to expand the playerbase. Fire Emblem Warriors looks good, but fall looks pretty damn stacked and I plan to buy Fate/Extella, so I don't need it right away. Still wish they had used at least more Lords from previous titles, but what can you do. Guess it's easier to sell the game with characters most people know and monetize older fans. Kirby looked alright, but I dunno, never been a huge fan of Kirby outside of Super Star. Course, I haven't played that many of his offerings, so... *shrug* Last but not least, Way of the Sushido looked stupid as shit. But a good stupid lol. I get the feeling that one's gonna be pretty damn fun to play. Other: Fuck you Square Enix. I was hoping for both a XII and XV PC port, but I haven't heard diddly squat about those. Would have also liked to hear about a Civ VI expansion, but I think they're working on the two next DLC civs, so maybe after that. I dunno. Basically I dunno how I'll afford all of these games lol. Final non-DD order: 1) Nintendo 2) Microsoft 3) Ubisoft 4) Bethesda 5) Sony 6) PC Gaming Show 7) EA |
