We tend to struggle against 'hokey' teamcomps such as 5 carries or 4-5 supports but we tend to play well against 'traditional' teamcomps. Why do you guys think that is? |

I think it comes down to our playstyle. We play pretty aggressively - I tend to roam as support at around level 2-3 after our first kill and unbind myself from the safelane ASAP, looking for more pickoffs. We shy away from safelane carries like Anti-Mage and Spectre who kinda need to farm up before they can skirmish, and I don't see a lot of KotL/Omni for supports. As a result we're reliant on a stream of kills - not only for income, but also to suppress the enemy. And this works for awhile, because of numbers advantage. But, for example, the game where he had Storm Spirit/Pugna/Beastmaster/Ogre/SK? We could barely get a push going to take advantage of the early domination, and they had all of their T1s up for as long as I can remember. And the pickoff style only works so well before they're grouping up as 5, and from there heroes like Magnus or Disruptor had a lot more teamfight control than we did. In other games we'll be primed to push something but we'll send 1-2 people back to defend from one of them counterpushing a sidelane or whatever, and it means we can't push as hard or as long. And if you can't close the game out soon enough, the multi-carry team can get the farm they need. I like our playstyle - if nothing else it's damn fun for the early game - but I think the best way to improve on it is to focus a little more on objectives like towers / ward placement after clearing out enemies, rather than looking for the next hero to kill. I'm 100% guilty of scanning the mini-map for enemy heroes after we kill one and thinking "now, how exposed are THEY?" and it's not a good habit since a kill doesn't mean much if you don't do something with it. |

I tend to play in this way where I don't actually do anything, so I would say we're doing pretty well |

If at first you don't succeed... Read as: 1. Pick PA 2. Actively try to fulfill contract before 6 3. Fail 4. Feed mercilessly 5. Tell everyone to report Slark instead Alternatively: 1. Pick Slark 2. Forget to buy boots 3. Rush S&Y 4. Buy all the components of Basher but somehow don't assemble them The best part of that game was that Brew was someone Tommy invited. Right as the accept button popped up Brew apparently saw Tommy's profile and was like, "1K MMR?" and then left without saying anything right after that match. |

Considering he bought Vlads on Brewmaster and skipped Aghs altogether I'm not convinced he himself was that good. EDIT: Ghost and I also played a pretty damn good game last night. For some reason Viper refused to harass or deny me and fed First Blood so I ended with, like, 8:30 BoT. But I had Laser/March spec (because it's Viper) so it took me awhile to snowball. Then I started teleporting around stealing everyone's farm which made Sarge kinda angry that ghost was underfarmed and underleveled. Bounty Hunter kept getting angry at me that I wasn't pushing while I had 40-50 second death timers, but his "I'm Bounty Hunter at 70 minutes and I've got three core items, probably because I skipped Track until level 10" strat basically speaks for itself. They took a set of rax and Jakiro (Sarge's friend) basically said "It's over, at this point we're just waiting for it to end" so ghost and I murdered their team and pushed the throne. GG EZ. http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1079661563 its a long journey of mine getting good as Tinker. I used to be so caught up in the mechanics that I'd forget what I was actually supposed to be doing. I could do with pushing lanes more often, but I feel I have broken down the wall to Tinker and I think this was one of the best games I have ever played in Dota, based on sheer performance. Awesome game. |

Granted, I don't play Tinker, but that's a pretty weird build. Soul Ring/Bottle/BoT are all good Eul's seems...unnecessary? I consider Eul's to basically be a support item for setting up kills and bonus mana regen. You don't need regen when you have BoT and you'd ideally be getting Ethereal anyway, which serves both purposes Eul's does (ensuring they don't escape/you have time to Rearm without dying). Agh's is honestly not common on Tinker. I assume that's because Dagon 5 does more damage than Agh's Laser, and Missile is more a kill securer than it is a staggering amount of damage (by time you'd have Agh's). Plus, if you go Dagon instead you have both Laser and Dagon, and if you go Agh's you only have Laser. Agh's Laser=640 Normal Laser+Dagon 5=1120 Missile damage doesn't scale with Agh's, so you can throw it in there too and it doesn't change the proportions. I assume the Ultimate Orb was for Vyse, which is good. It also might've been Manta, but you said something about not liking that a few days ago, so I assume not. I guess I can see Eul's situationally, especially for dodging Assassinate and Charge, but it doesn't strike me as worthy of 2000+ gold and a slot. Point not being "uninstall noob" but like, things to consider when you play Tinker again. also how in the fuck does axe get 35 kills |

1) I only used uel's once to dodge an assassinate that would have handed me my first death and like 15 mins after buying it I was gonna just sell it but I thought "eh, who cares" 2) yeah ultimate orb was for vyse. I actually had WAY more than enough money for vyse, I just never got around to going to SS to buy the rest of it. I was needed in lane and that would have taken up precious seconds we didnt have to waste. also I just totally forgot. 3) Axe got tons of kills because anybody I didn't kill, he finished off. note my assist count. Most were assists from Axe. |

Yeah I'm not too big on Aghs Tinker. If there's 3+ heroes to hit with missiles I'll drop some Marches instead and I don't think doubling the cast range of Laser is worth 4200 gold and delaying big items. The biggest gating factor on getting Laser out is honestly the cast animation and fog of war, and if I want bigger range on it I buy Blink Dagger which has infinitely more utility packed into it. Dagon's main draw for me is the fact that it has no animation and can be used while you're Silenced. To be honest my main build is following the old Flavor of the Month dealio but since they gutted Eblade I'm steering away from that being an instant pickup as soon as I get Dagon 5. Ghost Scepter is nice if their physical DPS has BKB but Scythe of Vyse, for all its expensive components, turns you into a 1v1 god. Euls is nice I suppose but there's better stuff out there to buy, I tend to see it as a cheap way to buy time for one reason or another and I think there are better items to do that job. I might experiment with Shiva's somewhere in the mix but the 0-animation instant burst of Dagon is super hard to pass up. |

That screenshot doesn't even explain how fucking weird that game was. At a certain point Tinker got so ahead that he just murdered everything, but for the first ten-ish minutes everyone was doing so well it was bizarre. Actual event from like 5-7 minutes into the game: Tinker already has at least 4 kills by this point, and bot (PL, Sniper, WD) have a couple, it's like 7-1 maybe. "Lycan just pwned Windr-" Tinker: "what is happening with this game" "Lycan just pwn-DOUBLE KILL" *literally three seconds later* "Witch Doctor just p-Witch Doc-DOUBLE KILL." Oli's Tinker is officially into 'forcing out abandon' levels. I also didn't realize Dwest was actually picking PL because I never saw him move his hover, so I thought that was just where it started and he was waiting to see what other people picked, so I owe Dwest a PL game whenever we play next. |

It's a good thing they sucked because our trilane with the shitty Sniper really didn't go very well. Sniper was autoing the whole time. |
